[ INSIDE- Broken down hospital wing, first floor. ] (EMOTION: PANIC) Something claws in your chest, and you feel the urge to run, to panic, to flee. It feels like something will pop out from the dark corridors almost immediately. Sometimes, you hear someone calling out to you, and it is a familiar voice. It always shouts help.
After Caroline had taken off, it took all of Harvard's willpower not to follow her, not to yell out 'nine' for every pause she took. But, he had told her he'd let her run and so he would, for a while. Maybe the kind of Caroline that she was now didn't realise exactly how persistent he would be, but Harvard felt he had to be persistent, that somehow his very determination would make her better. Or he'd have to put her out of her misery.
He shook his head and started off. There were others he needed to find in the interim. And it didn't seem to hard. In the fading light, Harvard thought he caught a glimpse of blonde hair. He moved forward, unaware of the shadow that had detached from the wall and was now following him.
"Austin!"

MOB SUMMON
[ MOB NAME] YOUR SHADOW MOB HP: 15 HP Mob Autodamage: It only attacks back when you attack it, doing the SAME damage to you as you did to this mob. For instance, if you roll and do 5 damage, it will do 5 damage to you. This applies to everyone attacking it. Mob Special Ability: This looks exactly like you do. Who it takes the form of is the person who "summoned" ie: rolled it. It is able to talk and mimic the identical actions of you, the only difference other than it being much, much more sinister and sadistic is that it is also semi-transparent, fading to grey, around the edges. Other than that there is no difference between you and this apparition. Mob Loot: Roll 1d4 to see what you get: 1: Junkyard five card: (http://halloween.thesporkedken.com/loot/card_5.png). As Harvard nears you, you notice that behind him is... him. It fades at the edges, and its mouth is stretched int some rictus of a grin. It stares intently at the back of Harvard's head, mimicking his movements.

Austin had been rummaging -- searching for a flashlight, or a lantern, or something that might serve to brighten the place up a bit. Something that might take some of the fear out of this creepy old hospital. Thus far, he hadn't had much luck: a candelabra, which he had lit, the flames lighting up his hair into rose gold and whiting out the lenses of his glasses as he raised his head. It made him spookier.
It made the hall no less spooky.
Especially when two Harvards came toward him, one shouting his name and one trailing inhumanly close. He blinked, once, and then caught the talking one by the shoulder, pushing him back out of the way and shoving the flame into the monster behind, instead, fire licking up over its shape.
Apparently, Austin had grown a bit of a spine. Or he wasn't too freaked out by these anymore, at least.

Austin's slim and a bit taller than average at 5'10' with sandy hair shorn short on the sides, longer and curly on the top. His eyes, behind a pair of thin wire thick plastic frames with the wrong prescription, are faded green and usually amused; his skin is fair, freckling in sun unless he's careful; his mouth is just a little too full, in a way that appeals to most people.

"Is that a candelabra." It wasn't a question, and it also really wasn't the thing Harvard should be focusing on, but it was hard to ignore a flaming light-wand being shoved past his face.... into the face of another him. Oh.
He whirled and jabbed his knife into other Harvard. "Feeling brave, today, Austin?"

No, not particularly -- but Austin didn't admit to that out loud, anyway. Instead it came through in the way he clung to Harvard's sleeve as he lashed out again, in the way he mostly kept the other man between himself and the monster. Sure, he was going to attack it, but that didn't mean he was going to be stupid about it.
Better safe than sorry. He didn't say anything, just let out a little shuddering breath, not exactly happy with the situation.

In any other situation, Harvard would have found enough pluck to make some kind of sexual joke about Austin just not being able to handle two of him. Though, as much as he found his own face to be moderately appealing, a shadowy version of himself was not something he wanted to have a threesome with. Just for the record.
Harvard noticed the way Austin usually kept him between himself and, well, Harvard(ish). Sometimes, it was easy to forget he was only twenty and that they were all scared out of their minds. He felt that sense of responsibility kick in. Ugh. It also meant he couldn't act like he was afraid. Luckily, for Harvard, he found it easy to dissociate from his fear. Shaking Austin's hand off, he ran forward and shoved his knife into his own heart.
For something semi-transparent, it felt remarkably solid. He watched, a shiver running down his spine, as it faded away. Then he turned back to Austin, looking at him searchingly. Stowing his knife, he took Austin's arm. It was quick toss up between something cutting and sarcastic and the genuine concern he felt.
"Hey, doing okay?"

With Liam, it was easier to play at okay: to fall into old habits, a biting edge creeping its way into his voice, carefully putting the young man at the butt of jokes designed to take the sting out of his situation. With Harvard, it seemed, it got too easy for Austin to give into it, with a hard pressed against his chest, as if he was worried his heart might come bursting out. He closed his eyes for about a count of five and then nodded, setting the candles down and creeping in to see what not-Harvard had left behind.
"They're just. Everywhere. These things."

The way Austin had closed his eyes made Harvard want to draw him in, but Austin wouldn't want to be coddled, he thought. "Kind of endless-feeling," he said instead, and watched the doorways closely as Austin scavenged around. And then, he too, moved in, picking up a water bottle and sniffing it to see if the water smelled potable. When he spoke again, he kept his back to Austin.
"You know," and he said it because he wanted to, even while fully aware that Austin might laugh at him. "I'll always have your back. If you need me, I'll be there. We'll be okay." It was his second promise. Harvard did not promise things lightly
I you hide, I will find you. If you need me, I'll be there.
He didn't outright laugh -- but it did make him pause, frozen for a moment, before he turned an incredulous look back to Harvard. Judging from his expression, Austin was just waiting for a punchline, for the professor to laugh at him or crack a joke about falling for it. His eyebrows raised, slowly, the moment dragging out in an awkward kind of silence.

Harvard stood and faced Austin, both his eyebrows raising as well. He stood and stared at him, daring him to go ahead and laugh.
It was too much. Austin blinked first, and it happened: a bubbling kind of laughter that drove him from searching through the boxes at the back of the room to his knees -- and then sitting, head in his hands, and just letting it out. The laughter rose up into something louder, until it wasn't exactly clear if he was still cracking up, or if it had shifted into something more like tears.
He stripped off his glasses, slowly, to rub at his face.

Well, he hadn't quite expected that. Dusting his hands off on his pants, Harvard walked over to Austin. He crouched and placed on hand on his back. Slowly, Harvard pulled Austin's hands away from his face, and if he would allow it (for once, Harvard wouldn't be pushy and force it - it was a rare occasion), Harvard kissed him.
He didn't fight it, anyway, and at least his cheeks weren't wet -- so no, no tears here, just a touch of hysteria, now washed away. He was very flushed from the laugher, with just a sparkle of something in his eyes, making them a bit yellow in the candlelight. They searched Harvard's face without quite focusing, probably about half blind, and he licked his lips as the man pulled away again at last.
"This is really messed up." It almost hiccuped at the end with another laugh.

"Tell me about it," he said, and kissed Austin again, fingers delving under his hat to curl in the hair underneath.
He bunched fingers at his knees, head tipped back obligingly, and yes, Austin could be pliable enough, now and then. He closed his eyes and gave up, and he was twenty years old and it shouldn't have been possible, all things considered, but he was enjoying himself despite his best effort.
Another break, and he had to draw in a couple breaths, near-gulping. "Really messed up."
