Your character finds a campfire, and there's a few people settled around it. The people stationed at the campfire are fixated at it,and almost say nothing to you. You can (and any other players in the thread) talk to them as you wish. When you are done talking to them all, this event is over!

Character 1: A girl with long black hair. She stares into the campfire and continues to say the words she lied over and over.

Character 2: A balding, old man. He begins to recount a story about his past, about how he was a fisherman. All he fished up were dead bodies. He continues to talk about fishing up his friends. He continues to talk about his wife and how he fished her up too. The story gets more and more morbid.

Character 3: A small boy, maybe five years old. He is looking straight at you the entire time. As you approach him, he whispers I know why this is is happening. If you question him further he doesn't say anything. However if you bribe him with a food item (DISCARD IMMEDIATELY AFTER) he will take it and continue speaking. I am Peter Pan. You blink, and as you do, you realize it wasn't a child at all, but simply an skeleton corpse of a child.

When the event is over, add +10 infection to your character's infection meter

Quote:
- RPing in a thread with someone who has LESS infection rate than you will decrease your infection rate by -5. This only works ONCE PER THREAD (so if your thread has 5 people, you can only have it effect you ONCE in that RP by ONE of those five people). This RP must be over 250 words of interaction between the two players to count.

With the clear air Justin could see the set of tall buildings, the windows that were knocked out, the opening of the vehicle by. "This was an institution." he spoke to no one. he could tell that it was a former hospital, a place of healing. It was also probably one of the sites where the infected and undying came from first, considering the profession at the area. The sick came here for help and quite possibly died, then un-died here too. It left Justin with an unsettling feeling about going inside. Which meant going completely against what he heard on the radio.

The creaking of the gate set him in a panic, whirling around at the origin of the sound and ready to bolt. There was just no way to take the edge off. the scurrying of rats to the sound of a pin dropping made him worry that something was out to get him. something probably was.

But in the darkness came a light, a glowing container of orange yellow light that called to him. and there was a little campfire in a old storage barrel. It was crude and rusted, but the fire was welcoming, it even had company already, noting the three figures standing around it, basking the lights warmth and security.

The fire was bright and fend off the darkness a few meters around it, and darkened the shadows as well. Light could not exist without shade, it went hand in hand. Justin was glad to have the beacon here. maybe other would come and he hoped to find his faction again. The idea of them considering him as lost was terrifying.

But not nearly as unsettling as the young girl who muttered the same thing over and over. "She lied" she kept repeating into the fire like it was communion with a priest telling her laments and life's woes in hopes that the god of light would ease her pain and burdens. Justin tried to get her attention, to find out what the lie was, but she was far too entranced with the holy flames and the vision it bestowed on her. She was stick in the lie.

It made Justin wonder what lie he himself was stuck in too.

A campfire drew his eye, and Austin started toward it: his steps rough, stumbling, awkward. There was blood on his shirt, and smeared across one side of his face as he came into the light, eyes raking over the scene -- settling only briefly on Justin -- sweeping past -- and coming back.

"I know you."

In short, Austin looked like s**t, itchy and nervous, scraping a hand up the back of his neck as he took his own place at the fire, only too grateful to sit somewhere a little bit more quiet. a place where people sat, and spoke around a campfire, and weren't horrible monsters reaching out of the fog --

But they were strange. Austin flicked Justin another look, suddenly wary, like he didn't believe he was real, or worried that he was about to do something terrible. A fevered paranoia in his expression before he forces himself to focus on the balding old man's story.

"...first one was my buddy Bill, ya see, and when he came on up it was with his eyes gone white and starin at me, and I swear he could see me..."

It was a disturbing story, but it was better than everything else out there, Austin thought. So he nodded, just a little glazed, folding arms over his chest and shrugging just faintly at the other man. Hopefully the pair of them could agree that this guy was a loony and then move on with their lives, relax a touch.

"...wife was worse, when she came on up it was in her sunday best, and the flowers on the hat..."

He closed his eyes and drew in a slow, calming sort of breath.

Austin's slim and a bit taller than average at 5'10' with sandy hair shorn short on the sides, longer and curly on the top. His eyes, behind a pair of thin wire thick plastic frames with the wrong prescription, are faded green and usually amused; his skin is fair, freckling in sun unless he's careful; his mouth is just a little too full, in a way that appeals to most people.

It was pleasant to see another person from the university, even if the voice made Justin jumps out of his shoes a little bit. "Jeeze, you startled me." he let out a sigh, unsure if it really was Austin in front of him and not the lady by the fire that was closing in on him screaming She lied, like he imagined. The story of the old man was disheartening, having to drag up his friends and loved one, all in a sad state. it was torturous, he could imagine.

How the man wasn't overcome with grief, he didn't know.

"Um." Austin blinked up at Justin blankly for a very long moment before his eyebrows pulled in together, slowly thoughtful, considering the other man. Trying to place him, put a name to the face -- and, of course, he couldn't. He still looked shell-shocked, huffing out a sigh and keeping his voice low so he wouldn't interrupt the old man's flow of thought.

"I forget your name." Maybe that, at least, would bring him to. Behind him, the man's story continued,

"...Jimmy had maggots in his eyes..."

Kelly was wandering with the voices in her head as her only company, occasionally scratching her arms and trying to get past her plight. She was stuck in here, and without anywhere to go she just needed to find a way to get past whatever was going on in her head. As she moved to look around the grounds, and ignore the undying, she caught sight of a flickering light in the distance. The lack of fog helped her easily recognize that it was a campfire, but she still was hesitant to approach.

Would this be another sick illusion.

As she approached the fire, she caught sight of a group lurking quietly. The first person she saw was a girl, who seemed to murmur the same statement over and over again. Rubbing her arms, she waited to see if the girl would look up, before glancing toward the other there. She recognized the uniforms and the people with them, and felt reassured.

Then she looked to the man, the fisherman that was mumbling about his past as a fisherman. Kelly shivered as he spoke up, about dead bodies instead of fish. His friends, his wife, his children. Kelly tried to avoid it, but she was struck with the memory of seeing her own family in the fog.

She then turned to the last person, a small boy who looked to be no more than five years old. She shivered as she realized he was looking right at her, and slowly she moved closer. Surely his story wouldn't be as morbid as the other two, right?

As she settled, she looked toward the other university students, and scratched her arm a bit more, "I'm so glad to see you...so so glad..." She chattered a bit, her voice coming out a bit weak as she ignored the whispers in her ears.

To be forgotten was a horrible feeling. It sat like a rock, discomforting. "My name is-"

She lied the young woman decided to interject, with her own two cents. "Its Justin." he reminded softly. making no fast movements, nothing that would cause panic. The air was charged with a sense of panic behind the calmness. He was unsure what could happen next. "Any luck finding the others, did you get turned around in the fog as well?"

The appearance of Kelly meant a lot, that the university faction could be in the area, if only dispersed. If they were real. "you made it out of the casino as well?"

She lied the lady of the fire continued while the old man droned on in his story. "she had the pearls on that i gave her, and the wedding ring, still on her bloated hands."

It was getting rather depressing, and it twisted at something deep inside, justin remembered his emotions.

The light, the fire drew him onwards, out of the fog. He shivered, looking around warily at the dark shadows of people who stood by it. Harvard stood next, unseeing anyone near him. Someone was telling a story, his voice rough and as weather as an old sailing ship's hull. He stared and stared into the fire as he approached, hoping the light of it would draw some of the numbness out of his bones. He was almost afraid to look up, but when he did, he startled forward, Austin's name on his lips.

A hand tugged on his shirt with surprising force. "I know why this is happening." The voice made him freeze for the moment. He turned and looked down. The boy was young, too young to be alone, too young to know and Harvard frowned. "What was that?" But the boy shook his head, dark hair flopping into his eyes. Harvard crouched down, ruffling that unruly hair. He could see Austin in a bit, see Austin.... and hopefully not see glass.

"Will you tell me if I give you this?" He produced a Kinder egg from his pocket, glad he'd held on to some candy. (Candy was not typically useful in the games he played.) The boy held out his hand, small fingers half-curled, and nodded vigorously. Harvard obligingly dropped it into his hand and waited.

The boy touched the foil reverently, and spoke. "I am Peter Pan." Harvard blinked and the boy wasn't a boy but a collection of bones. He fell backwards, letting out a yelp and a heartfelt curse. The kinder egg, he noted, was not among the bones.

Kelly just stared at the girl who kept murmuring about lies, and tried to ignore the old man as she pushed to look at Justin. He was like a beacon, with his jersey and stability. She felt like she could make it, just on the sight of him there.

"Barely...I just got my coins in...but it seemed like it didn't matter in the end." She said over the voice of the girl before the boy spoke up at last. She turned, curious, considering a few people seemed to believe they knew why they were there. She also noticed an older man, and the jersey caused her confidence to bloom.

She kept silent as the older man gave away an egg, and the boy took it willingly. Leaning forward, and trying to block out the fisherman and the call for lies, she waited.

All she saw next was the man yelping, and she jumped up to rush toward Harvard, "Are you oka-" Looking to the pile, she blinked a long moment, before letting out a defeated sigh. An illusion, again.

"Uh huh, that was no problem, until those stupid protestors -- " He shook his head, sharply, and some focus finally came into Austin's face, a slowly dawning comprehension of the world around him. He blew out a breath and squared his shoulders, swiping at his face, the lingering effects of a faded nose-bleed still smeared across his jaw and one corner of his mouth.

"I'm Austin." But there was a certain confidence behind it, as if he was saying but you already knew that. He shrugged, crookedly, and slowly his eyes settled on the figure beyond, talking to what was apparently a long-dead skeleton. That made him frown. He could have sworn there was a little boy there.

"Doctor?" It was a good thing he'd come to by now. Being out of it, again, probably would have driven him crazy.

It was quickly gathering people as Justin heard the shuffling move closer. If it was foe or ally he wasn't sure, but they were coming. Justin took a careful look at Austin and where he was looking, seeing nothing of interest. "are you ok? you found something Austin?" he asked, twisting his head to look in the area and ignore the whispers around him. "Well at least you got away Kelly, i just wish we could use the Radio to contact everyone." he sighed giving the device a shake, nothing but blips and clicks and static save for the other occurrence. he was not going to tell anyone about that.

Harvard was also in the area, looking like he was trying to search for items. Not wanting to disturb the man as he went about his rummaging., he let him be until the man let out a shout and fell over, making himself tense up and whip around.

Into the eyes of a little boy that were dulled with the trial. "I know why this is happening" came the quiet whisper, his ears straining to hear it. Another yelp came and he glanced the other way and flitted back into a decrepit skull, far more decomposed than expected.

He blinked furiously, wiping at his eyes, rubbing the tricks and visions away. "Are we losing our minds or what?"

"Yeah, well, I don't ******** know. But I know that little boy is now a skeleton and I know I saw your dead-a** body." He pointed to Austin, rather more dramatically than he normally would. This hospital was too goddamn spoopy. HArvared was too old for this s**t. He took a few deep breathes and stood. By the time he was up, he was more or less composed.

"Congratulations on not being dead, Austin." He rubbed a hand across his beard and avoided looking at the skeleton. "Hello, I'm Dr. Harvard Falls and I don't normally have conversations with skeletons." He made a self-depreciating noise.

Kelly nodded idly as she was able to focus slightly on the group around her, the real group. Her arms still itched terribly as she ignored the voices in her head, and she made sure to always look at the jersey on the people she spoke with. She refused to imagine what it would be like if those were proven illusions as well.

"Ever since I left the casino, I've heard voices. It's like people are watching me..." She grumbled, eyeing Harvard with no judgement at all.

"Kelly Vanderbeck, and what's normal anymore?" She was still scratching, and caught herself before moving back to sit around the fire. The warmth was nice, and the crackling seemed to overshadow the girl's words.

She lied.

The thing materialized from the shadows. It's familiar form reflected eerily in the light of the campfire as it approached, quiet save for the wet little pops as eyes blinked in and out of view, and as randomly appearing teeth snapped open and closed.

It surveyed the group, head turning to look at those who spoke: where its actual eyes should have been, was nothing more than empty sockets.

"Where are they?" It asked, the feminine voice distorting. Suddenly, all of the homunculus' open eyes focused on one, and a moment later, it lunged.
