Personality
Autumn is a troll with a big personality, both forthright and brazen. She has a quick grasp of social cues that allows her to navigate most conversations with ease but at the same time suffers a bit of an emotional disconnect. This sometimes prevents her from seeing eye-to-eye with others. Strongly independent, with no shortage of self-confidence, Autumn tends to value her own autonomy over the feelings of others. She will not sacrifice who she is for the sake of someone else.
While she is secure enough that she does not need it as validation, Autumn thrives in the spotlight. Even with bad attention, she can often spin it to make it work for her, remaining cool under pressure. As long as everyone's eyes are on her, she does not see a reason why it should not be a good thing. Considering all the terrible things she has heard about how mutants are treated in the outside world, being liked and admired is definitely a nice feeling. She is not always good at balancing good and bad attention however. As much as she would rather be looked at in positive light, she struggles to come to terms with what she believes would be compromising her autonomy.
Though her mutation is generally an easy-pass to catch someone's eye, Autumn does not rely on it to make an impression. Her wings are not the only interesting part about her, after all. Whenever there is an opportunity to prove herself and take centre stage, Autumn will take it. She is not afraid to show off if she thinks she is doing something interesting or cool, nor does she have scruples about exaggerating her qualities to make herself appear more striking. Worst comes to worst she will not hesitate to approach others first. She does have a tendency to dominate conversations, and it can be a little hard for her to let go of the limelight once she has it.
Autumn has no room for small people or small ideas. She takes every moment as an opportunity. With no patience for the mundane, she is constantly seeking out new experiences. She becomes restless quickly, and tends to flit from one activity to another, even between people. As much as she is a socialite, she begins to feel anxious if committed to anything for too long. She is happiest in an ever-changing environment. On the flip side, when forced to remain stagnant, Autumn's mood can pitch drastically. She hates the feeling of being held back and can turn impatient and brusque. She does not always play nice in groups because of this. She is too strong-willed to make compromises, and would rather work on her own than have to cope with different ideas. She has no qualms about leaving people behind if she can better pursue her own goals without them. She has big, important things to do, and if someone can't keep up, that's on them.
Not surprisingly, Autumn is a troll of action. She cannot stand to sit around twiddling her thumbs and appreciates a healthy dose of excitement in her night-to-night life. If that means she has to make her own excitement, so be it. Sometimes though she straddles the line between fun and trouble. For instance she has a persistent prankster streak. While most of her tricks are harmless, they can get annoying, especially if she is looking for attention. Paired with her headstrong nature, her puckish humour can make her insufferable at times. Unfortunately, Autumn takes poor responses to her pranks as a fault of her audience's part. She has no sympathy for people with no sense of humour and would rather dismiss them than admit to being wrong. To further avoid taking responsibility Autumn often lies, about her actions, her intentions, or even her feelings. In a way she feels it helps to secure her independence. As a result, lying has become something of a compulsive habit. If caught, she can turn sulky for hours.
Autumn is not the type of troll to serve her grudges. While she is not mature enough to forgive necessarily, she does try to forget. She is not interested in wasting her time being frustrated or angry. Not when there are much more productive things she could be doing. When faced with conflict, her first instinct is to separate herself from it. If the conversation takes a turn she does not like, or if things do not pan out exactly her way, she is liable to drop everything and find a better way to occupy her time. This, she believes, is the mature choice of action. By removing herself from a problem, she is in essence eliminating the problem. She does not want to get emotionally invested in something that will only generate strife. That said, once she is invested, she can turn mean. Back-handed remarks, cold-shouldering, and passive aggressive behaviour is her usual mode of operation.
Growing up in a village inhabited by rebels has given Autumn a bit of a bias towards the hemospectrum. Being a mutant certainly does not help, though Autumn has not had any personal experience with prejudice. Her knowledge is all second hand, and this makes the hemospectrum seem a far off problem. She does not fully grasp its significance, nor the dangers it presents. It is also difficult for Autumn to grasp that her mutation could be viewed as anything other than a good thing. She is proud of who she is, yellow blood, wings, and all, and no one can tell her otherwise. She does not want to be pitied or looked down on for something she cannot control, but nor does she want to be exalted for it. She wants to prove herself as her own troll, independent from preconceived stereotypes. Even so, it's less about how others view her, and more about meeting her own personal goals.
Both Autumn and Caterpal have a terrible sweet tooth. Autumn likes to cook for the both of them, but almost everything she makes is a combination of sugar, syrup, candy, and more sugar. To name a few inventions: ice cream and tart gumbo, sprinkles and caramel jambalaya, and hot fudge waffle steaks. She would love to share her talent with the world, but no one else seems to appreciate the pure saccharine goodness.
Autumn has a love for all things bright and colourful, including fire and daylight. She is positively enamoured by the sun and the glow it casts over Alternia. Often she will stay up late to take pictures of the morning from some shadowy place. She covers her hive with these photographs and likes to imagine being able to live out under the sun. The mystery and danger the daytime presents is both thrilling and beautiful to her.
With how isolated the swamp village is from the rest of Alternia, Autumn has developed a strong curiosity for the outside world. Though Caterpal could not care less whether they live in the swamp forever, Autumn longs to go out and explore the world. She wants to meet new people, travel new places, and expose herself to culture. She is quick to latch onto anything new that comes into village as a result, whether it is an object or a person, and will not let go until she has exhausted her excitement.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths:
Self-sufficient
Autumn's greatest strength is, without a doubt, her independence. She has a seemingly bottomless well of confidence to draw from and the smarts to act on it. Her self-assured attitude should not be confused for arrogance however. She recognises that she has limits, and knows that to be successful she has to work with or around them and not against them. Knowing exactly what she is and is not capable of allows Autumn to pursue her goals realistically. She is, for the most part, and able to take care of herself, even without her lusus. She warms up to new tasks quickly, and takes satisfaction in overcoming challenges. Even emotionally, Autumn is a step ahead. Though she likes to be around other people, she finds happiness in solitude. There is nothing more liberating.
Decisive
Autumn is not the type to spend a long time analysing a problem. She prefers to make a decision quickly and deal with the potential fall out later. In most cases, she views extensive analysis as a waste of time, time that could be better spent doing something. Though she is not against looking at things logically, she more often relies on her intuition. With the ability to subconsciously process information and minute details, she tends to excel in making snap decisions. Conversely, the more time she has to consciously consider a decision, the more likely she is to overthink it and second guess herself. Her air of confidence and lack of hesitation only lends her credibility. While she may not always make the best choices (Caterpal tends to encourage her bad impulses), she keeps a cool-head under pressure.
Wily
Autumn may not always act on it, but she has a lot of cunning especially when it comes to dealing with others. She has an intuitive grasp when it comes to people reading, and knows how to play off emotions. While she tries not to be outright manipulative, there are times that she will try to work a situation to her advantage. Most of the lies she tells are to keep herself and Caterpal out of trouble, but she has no scruples over using deceit to get something she really wants. Her guile extends beyond trickery however. As a quick problem solver, she has a knack for making the best out of bad situations, even when resources are limited. Her greatest resource after all is herself.
Weaknesses:
Headstrong
Once Autumn sets her mind to something, she will not budge from that. Ever. In general she does not take advice from others, but especially not if it contradicts her own thoughts. She would rather learn things on her own terms, regardless of the consequences. Even after the fact, Autumn is unlikely to admit being in the wrong. It is far too important for her to do things her way, than to become reliant on someone else. She can be petulant in this regard. She might plan on doing something one way, but the minute someone tells her what a good idea it is, she is likely to do something entirely different just to be contrary. The only thing she hates more than her decisions being corrupted by someone else's influence, is people making assumptions about her.
Aloof
As extroverted as Autumn is, she tends keeps a part of herself detached. With her concern for her independence and how fiercely she protects it, she unintentionally creates distance between herself and others. Sometimes this is painfully obvious. Transparent lies and a contrary attitude serve to drive people away. Because she refuses to let anyone in, she can come across as haughty. Worse, with her outward lack of empathy, she can appear cold, even towards those who she would consider friends. Autumn does not have to be chilly to be aloof though. Even when friendly, she has an air of being removed from the situation. She is often motivated by self-interest and that shows.
Reckless
With a deep well of confidence and no one to reel her in (Caterpal certainly won't!), it is no surprise that Autumn has developed some... reckless tenancies. From testing the daylight, to exploring new territories, to proudly displaying her wings she walks a dangerous line. It is not that Autumn never considers the consequences, or that she thinks herself above them. She just plain doesn't care. There are more important things than worrying and being afraid. While she does not deliberately seek out danger, she tends to throw caution to the winds for the sake of staying true to herself. In general she likes to believe that she values principles over security. Strong as her intuition is though, she may put a little too much faith in her impulses. This may stem from her naïveté and lack of experience facing real consequences. Her life in the village is softer than she realises.

Home
Autumn lives in the heart of the swamp village. Her hive is a tiny, run-down building built thirty feet off the ground between four trees. Big patches of moss cover the wooden walls, scuff marks stain the tatami floor, and the tin roof is rusting. The paned windows which make up the left and right walls of the house are kept clean, but sometimes the glass rattles in the wind. During the day, Autumn pulls down the bamboo shades over them to keep out the light. She also cracks open the windows when it's warm. Even with the protective layer of foliage overhead, the tin roof can make the little hive heat up very quickly.
Her hive has four blocks, if they can even be called that. The ablution block is of course separate, but the nutrition block and rumpus block are more like half-rooms with only a low wall between them. Her respite block is even less than that. It is loft located over the left half of the rumpus block. Despite how little space she has, Autumn keeps the hive tidy. She does not have much to begin with, so it would be difficult to clutter it anyway. She decorates the walls of her hive (the ones that aren't windows at least) with photographs. Around the roof of her hive (both inside and out), as well as the bridge leading towards it she has strung up electric lights.
She also has a penthouse in Chittentown she began to rent out, after her stint as Seraph in the Superstar Authority competition.

Lusus
Glow-butt Caterpal. He is a big, fat caterpillar, about a foot long, with translucent wings and elytra, and a shiny glow-stick butt. He often uses his glowing appendage to get Autumn's attention or direct her. He has a childish demeanour, and while this makes him perfect as a playmate, he is a terribly irresponsible guardian. Instead of keeping Autumn out of trouble, more often than not he gets her into trouble. Most the terrible ideas Autumn has originated from Caterpal in some form or another. Much of her independence can be attributed to Caterpal as well. Because he has never attempted to dictate her life, she has developed a sense of entitlement.
Though Caterpal is all about having fun, with his petty, impetuous nature, he has a tendency to create strife. Most of the time Autumn can reel him in. As the more mature of the two, she generally knows better than to pick fights. Other times though, she is liable to encourage him, especially if she feels personally invested. The two are not necessarily the best at looking out for each other. Even so they are as thick as thieves and trust each other implicitly.
While not much more responsible than his charge, Caterpal does know how to act as a proper guardian when he needs to. His charge is his best friend after all, and he would protect her with his life. Fortunately such drastic measures are not necessary. While small (at least compared to most lusii), Caterpal does have a special talent: he can spit acid. A single glob is usually enough to deter anyone who would think about laying a hand on Autumn.
Because of his larval-like state as well as adolescent behaviour, Autumn is unsure of whether he is actually very young like herself or just a strange anomaly of a creature. She has thought about asking Caterpal about it, but can never seem to work up the nerve. It just doesn't seem to be something worth worrying over anyway.
