A shout in the distance caught Austin's attention -- brought his head up sharply, which hurt like hell and left him sitting with stars in his eyes for another long moment before he could lever himself up to go look. Of course, by then, there were more of the things. The girl's attacker hadn't been alone, and he was face to face with a monster of his own...

Austin's slim and a bit taller than average at 5'10' with sandy hair shorn short on the sides, longer and curly on the top. His eyes, behind a pair of thin wire thick plastic frames with the wrong prescription, are faded green and usually amused; his skin is fair, freckling in sun unless he's careful; his mouth is just a little too full, in a way that appeals to most people.
"Oh no more of them." Jane looks just distressed. She took her bag and smacked the thing around a bit.

Before Austin had a chance to do more than blink at the creature, it lunged at him, knocking him sideways and setting his teeth rattling against each other: for the moment, distracting him too much to even react. Instead he stood there, dumbly, blinking as the creature came at him again.

Liam hadn't been far off, but his mobility was fairly compromised at the moment. It took a bit longer to follow Austin to reach girl that had cried out, and when he did, catching sight of the undying, he had a moment of soft panic with which he wondered why he'd thought it was a good idea to follow.
Chivalry, maybe. It hadn't been wisdom, that was for damn sure.
A scrapping sound pulled his attention to the rear of their little party, and what he saw there pulled a small, strangled sound from his throat. "Austin, there's another one!" With spikes all of it's damn body!

Liam's shouting didn't help this time, certainly: it made Austin, blink, turn, and get tackled roughly to the ground. He let out an exasperated puff of breath, torn between anger and terror, struggling to keep the creature from taking a huge chunk out of the back of his neck.
This time, at least, Austin managed to get one good blow in: striking the creature across the face and causing it to go down hard enough that he could recover his own feet, breathing just a bit heavily and looking around for the other two. It caught his ankle, raking at skin while he was distracted.
Running wasn't an option. even if he'd been physically able to, he still wouldn't have, because that would have left the other two with three undying to deal with, and no matter how frightened the things made him, Liam just couldn't do that. He was too good of a person.
So he stood his ground and waited for the shambling thing to reach him, and as it did he'd lash out at it, swinging a wild hay-maker at what was left of the thing's face. Knuckles hit, but in that same instance it was reaching for him, decaying fingers wrapping painfully tight around his other arm.
Jane dove for a leg and wrestled with it. she wasn't strong but the undying was weaker than her, especially after she wrestled the leg off it's body... ewe. Honestly she was doing a lot better fighting this then she thought. then again taking a page out of her dog's book was useful.

He didn't have time to see how the other two were doing, but he could hear the sounds of struggle behind him as he yanked on his arm. It's grip loosened, letting Liam slid free, but it was already moving forward as well, hands on his shoulders, forcing him to the ground.
Jane grabbed a big rock an smashed it into the thin and it vanished disappearing into a million pieces. She was victorious! "I did it! I did it..." she collapsed in a heap panting with fear shaking a bit still.

Someone had succeeded, that was good. Liam wasn't sure who yet, hadn't had a chance to get a good look at the woman, and didn't have a chance now. Not with jagged nails digging into his shoulders and broken, yellowed teeth snapping a inches from his face.
"Oh are you ok? No get away from him." Jane got up and tried, pitifully to save the one who came over to help her. she waved her purse and did nothing.
