DAY ZERO ENTRY PROMPT:
They had been instructed to put in an unbelievable amount of overtime on this very day or rather more fittingly, on this very night. She and her team members were wrapping up in preparation to head home and catch a few hours of sleep at last. She reckoned that quite evidently someone higher up in their chain of command did not buy in to the hubbub that was all the rage these days, which could explain to some degree why they were only now able to get off from work but not provide a more logical reasoning behind why it seemed only their tier on the corporate chain was left at this hour.
Anyway, Lee, formally Taylee Young, was glad to put an end to the long work day now. She blew out a silent breath of relief as they exited the building together. But the smile on her face faded as quickly as it appeared as she was about to speak parting words to her colleagues. Good night and see you tomorrow; those two phrases had not the slightest chance of leaving her throat as they found themselves all pulled into the chaos they stepped out into. She was alone before she knew it. They had all scattered, all ran in panic, all sought safety. And here she was, hiding, taking muffled and shaky breaths with her heartbeats pounding loud and clear to her in her ears, terrified, currently unable to wrap her head around her current location; where her fleeing had brought her to at this time.
The prison faction is an eventful place, Lee found herself thinking in her mind this morning. She had slept in today, having just woken up and shifted to a seated position as she stretched. Already she awoke to sounds of bustling activity around her. And her mind then transitioned to taking a brief moment to recall events that happened over the latest days.
Recently a rank system was announced and implemented in their faction. Her mind continued to juggle different thoughts about the present as she went about her morning tasks of prepping to tackle the day today. She admired how the announcement of the new rank system was followed with much interest and the endeavoring of many of her fellow faction members to rank up and contribute further. However, when recalling the large part of her experiences from day zero to now, she got to thinking what she should consider as her action plan. The aim to survive was no easy mission, it was a struggle and not just for her she reckoned. Personally, while she wanted to survive along with everyone, she also wanted to contribute with her own individuality. She did not want to underestimate herself, nor did she want to overestimate her capabilities. So there was a balance she decided on targeting day to day. She would prioritize not becoming infected and thus posing an added threat and so forth. As amazing as she found the new rank system, what she felt she considered her aim next before ranking up was to contribute to the offense, defense, and supply status of the prison faction that has now come to be a memorable community she is a part of. She would be fine even staying a civie while in keeping with this order of priorities of hers. And now out she stepped, limping slowly and carefully, from her cell room to optimistically face her day.
