The courtyard had been repurposed entirely to training quarters number two, the training quarters for less-than-knights. The second best. The ones that hadn't made it yet.
It was hard to ignore the large schism between knight-apprentices and true knights. Those who had sacred weapons carried themselves with purpose, their abilities were unrivaled in battle, and the darkness feared them. They were respected, they were greater.
Those who did not have a sacred weapon were just elevated citizens, forever waiting to prove themselves in a moment, and one day be acknowledged to take the Trials.
It was there that the lesser knights would train amongst themselves, trying to better their skills, hoping one day someone would notice them.

- If you are unfamiliar with the middle ages a quick wikipedia search is fine! As this is an AU, as long as there aren't like, laser beams and robot unicorns, historical lenience is okay. This is much more fantasy medieval than regular anyway, surely people understand what that is about!
- Right now, PRP Sanctuary and Battle Arena are closed. You may interact in the three orps for as long as you'd like until they open (ETA May 5th - 6th)
- Have fun! You may interact with the setting as you wish. A GM prompt may occur later on, you are always free to quote it and interact with the GM and/or interact with other people in the room, this is an rp to introduce knights to each other after all!
- Additional prompts:As this is training quarters, you can indeed practice sparring with someone! Just quote a person when you're ready to spar with them and roll your 1d4 dice to practice. Just abide by the regular battle rules from the main event thread info. All characters have 30 HP.

[Shun Kuroda - Entering]
The knighting 'ceremony' was over with, and he was now free to roam about. He had done a quick tour of the compound to get a feel for this new place. The Banquet hall depressed him. The meager amounts of food available was just a stark reminder of how harsh things were right now. As ironic as it was, that killed his appetite to eat for the time being. The war room was a place to note. He was going to need to stop by there later on to see what he could learn. But he had other plans for the time being.
He saw some of the Knights gallivanting about with their sacred weapons. One day, he too would have one of his own. He was determined for that much. He was only a trainee, as it stood, having just been initiated into this order. Shun was going to need to work on growing stronger so that he may join the ranks of the full fledged Knights and be able to hunt the darkness that plagued the land.
It was time to train.
Taking in a deep breath, he drew the sword from his waist, wrapping both hands around the hilt. He stared at one of the targets for several moments. As swiftly as he could, he raised the blade and shifted forth, then brought it down to make a diagonal slice.

[Rei enters the courtyard]
He's supposed to be happy after being anointed as apprentice knight- Yet something has been gnawing constantly at his mind. He remembers everything else BUT his past.
Why?
To take his mind out of that, he wandered to the courtyard. -or at least what's left from it. Since it has been repurposed into a training grounds, you can't even see a single blade of grass with the color green---almost all of the ground around has been stamped by greaves at least more than one thousand times.
He sighed after looking at the poor soil. Nothing can grow on this land anymore; not after all those steel rust and sweat absorbed.
Reith walked to the training straw-dolls lined against the wall. Arrows and various projectiles has been embedded on all of those dolls. But no, he didn't use ranged weaponry---
He stuck his hand under the cloak and pulled out something strange; it looked like...someone forcefully nailed two scythes together---and smashed the resulting piece into five pieces.
But this is his weapon. His speciality. His origin... ---huh?
There comes that sensation again. Like he's near the edge of remembering something---but nope, that feeling dissipated in a flash.
Groaning, he unfurled the shield-like object. Joints made from steel clicked, the dense heartwood rod combined in place, and two heavy bronze blade locked.
He firmly grasped the heavy shaft and started swinging it with ease- -before making a sudden snapping movement, allowing himself to be dragged around by the object's weight and severing the nearest training doll in two.
He know how to use this. It seems he has decided in using this contraption as weapon since....
-when?

[Uru Enters]
His pledging was done, he was no longer needed in the hall. It was going to be a long day there. It wasn't necessary for him to stay. Judging by the number of knights and other apprentices around, he was sure that had thought the same. The knights carried their sacred weapons - devices of destruction of the corrupt and dark. He aspired to be a knight, to protect and to serve. However, these knights gallivanted and boasted rather than make good examples of themselves for those of the apprentices to become. However, he still smirked to see that all of these knight's weapons had their chains intact.
Withdrawing his blade, he took stance before a straw post. Blade out in his right, his left hand over his chest. There was no way for him to train with a shield against a dummy, but this was his preferred style. The apprentice went through the motions in his head; jabbing, slashing, parry, block, turn, slash, block, cut. The movements were quick and trained, but predictable as he had not really sparred outside of inanimated objects such as this. Perhaps these trials of knighthood would allow that.
He wasn't going to say he was the best of them. But he was going to be one of the hardest working, that he was determined to prove.

[ Rae Enters ]
Rae had wandered around the compound after the Knighting ceremony. It would be a good idea for her to familiarize herself with the location of key places throughout the compound. What she had discovered was that the library was a mess, which had truly been a disappointment to her, and that the dining room wasn't what she would call a dining hall by any means. It seemed like more of a battleground that the courtyard did. Of course, it was a far more depressing sort of battlefield in it's own way.
Her last stop had been the courtyard, it was quite the bustling place with trained Knights and apprentices like herself throwing weapons at dummies. Her own weapon she had by her side, it usually acted as a walking stick most of the time. Somehow she had felt drawn to it and she knew at least a few basic moves with it. She didn't feel like 'playing' with it just yet though. Instead she found a spot to lean against a pillar and watch the other trainees at work.
There was a big difference between the Knights and the Apprentices as they trained. The biggest of which was simply the number of things they could do with their weapons. Their 'strategies' were different. That could only come with experience. All of her training up to this point had been just that, training. It couldn't really be called experience.
How would it go for her? When she finally faced one of those shadows on the battlefield. She liked to think that she could handle it, but she couldn't even begin to compare herself to those Knights.

Her family didn't really think highly of her growing up so she turned to Knighthood as a way to rid herself of their influence while also proving to them that she could really go something useful once she set her sights on them. It's a mystery as to why she was drawn to the War Scythe, but she loves to use it to drag people of their 'high horse' and she is good at fighting from a distance. Of course, she's still just training. Rank of character Apprentice-knight Sacred Points obtained: 0/100

A few others like himself had shown up for the same purpose. At least it seemed that way from what he saw out of the corners of his eyes. He didn't turn to look, really, as Shun was focused on his current task at hand. If others were training as well, then good.
The more of them who were 'ready' for the fight when the time came, the better. He figured they could use all they could get to fight the darkness that threatened to consume them all.
He couldn't remember what had brought him here in the first place. But the past and whoever he was didn't matter. This is where he was now, and he had one goal.
Eliminate the horsemen.
Narrowing his eyes at the thought, he severed the 'head' of the dummy in front of him. Perhaps the straw targets were not the best idea... or at least using live weapons rather than practice blades against them. The targets were all going to be a pile of hay sooner or later otherwise.

Coming to the courtyard, Shayne saw this dark haired person slice a target in half. Losing his memories about his past, something still doesn't sit right about battling and fighting with him. However, becoming a Knight in training; he needed to learn how to fight. How to fight to protect himself and other in need. "Hey there!" Shayne called out as he walked up to the dark haired person. "My name is Shayne McQueen." the shaggy gingery haired boy greeted him. "You seem really good with that sword. Have you been training for a long time?" He asked with a soft and friendly smile on his face.

[Johan Entering]
Ah, here it was. He'd been certain that the castle would have some sort of training grounds. It felt that he'd seen this place before, but he couldn't remember when, specifically. The effects of his pledge. He had no means to judge the importance of what he'd lost. What remained to him was by necessity his highest priority.
Become a true Knight, and eradicate the Darkness.
There were others here already, training against dummies, or conversing. Expression grim, Johan ignored them to find a space clear of severed dummy remains. He checked to make sure no one was close, settled into a balanced stance, concentrated, then drew and struck at the air in one fluid motion, aiming to make the katana an extension of his arm. A flick of the sword meant to remove blood, and back into the scabbard. Re-center. Draw and strike. Flick. Re-sheathe. Back to center.
Draw and strike. Flick. Re-sheath. Back to center.
The repetition was calming.

Someone had approached him. Lowering his blade, he turned towards the green haired boy and tilted his head.
"Shun," he tersely offer in turn. At the comment about his skill with the sword, he looked down at the weapon, then shrugged.
"Maybe. I would not know, honestly." he shrugged. The sword at least felt familiar, so he figured he had some experience with it. He didn't even know where he had gotten the sword, though, let alone how much previous training experience he had.
For now, he decided to avoid the dummies, moving further back to get some space. He closed his eyes briefly and relaxed himself. Once he felt ready, he began to strike at the air, attempting to keep his motions as clean and precise as possible. Whether or not he managed that is up for debate.

The shaggy gingery haired boy kept a smile on his face as he was listening to Shun. However, the smile fade away a bit as he realized there was some stuff wasn't clear to him as well. "I believe I know how you feel." Shayne replied to the dark haired guy. "I am having this unsettle feeling about fighting and battling. Yet, I'm here being a knight in training and carrying around a crossbow." He added with an uneasy expression come across his face. "However, I know or feel like I know the reason that I become a knight in training. To protect anyone that couldn't protect themselves. However, it unrealised coming from someone like me." He began to laughed a bit.

The form, simple though it was, had warmed Johan's muscles considerably. He sheathed his katana, and noticed that someone had joined him in the open area. They looked like polar opposites. One dark, one fair, but they were both carrying katana.
Heels clicking together, Johan stood ram-rod straight, then bent at the waist in a formal bow to the other man. He watched intently for the dark haired man's reaction.

While Shayne spoke, Shun kept his gaze forward, keeping his focus. He was still listening; he didn't need to be looking at him to do so, after all. After making one of his practice strikes, he let out a light scoff.
"You better leave that doubt behind while you still can."
He might not have fought the darkness yet, but he figured any shred of doubt or second guessing could be deadly out in the battlefield.
The man beside him caught his attention with a bow. He turned, with his blade lowered and tilted his head. No words were exchanged, but he understood what was 'said'. Briefly, he sheathed his own katana and returned the bow. Once he straightned back up, he drew the sword out once more and held it steadily. He kept a level gaze on the other man, waiting. Watching.

As the dark cloaked man returned the bow, Johan settled into a ready stance, hand hovering over the katana in its sheath. He studied how his opponent held his weapon, trying to decide how best to strike at him.
The distractions around him faded away.
Trying not to telegraph his movements, Johan darted toward the other man, drawing and striking with his katana in one movement at the last second.

Shun kept his breath steady as he watched his current opponent. His movements came sudden; faster than he expected. Though he tried to move, he felt the blade cutting against his arm still. A low hiss of pain escaped him, and such, he moved in for a counterstrike, lashing out at the light-haired man's wrist while they were still close to one another.

As Shun made his light scoff comment, Shayne blinked a few times at him with a timid expression washed over his face. The dark haired guy was right, any doubt that he is having right now probably would cost him dearly in the heat of battle. However, what if he couldn't leave them behind what if he let his emotions take whole of him during mid-battle. "Y-You're right, Shun. I shouldn't need any doubts" Shayne finally mustered up the cougars to speak. "I hope we could meet again. I'm going to take a look around." He added as he saw the guys bow to each other. "Later?" He asked as he slowly began to walk off from Shun.
