So, Katarina City has a new Gym Leader! And now he needs gym trainers to help him out preferably someone older and more responsible because he doesn't really know what he's doing. Fortunately he has two older siblings and a pokemon he's never really bonded with, so he's going to offer the Sawsbuck to one of his siblings in exchange for them becoming a gym trainer. But he needs more gym trainers than that, so he's also looking to hire other trainers. Read on for more information.

Lyle needs someone he can depend on to help him in the gym. He also want to help his family, and since his whole family can't move into the gym, he figures the next best thing is to offer his siblings a chance to be trainers.
About the family: There is a very rough outline of Lyle's family in his journal. In short, his family is poor, with a single mom raising 5 kids in a small apartment. Lyle has two older siblings; a brother (Lyle's about to turn 12, so his brother could be 16 or 17) and a sister (14 or 15). His little sisters are too young to be trainers. Applicants can make up any details they like about the family, as long as they fit within what I've established (which isn't much, so you have a lot of room to get creative.)
About the pokemon:
Lyle caught a Deerling while out training with Gym Leader Shina, and at her suggestion he named the pokemon Brocade after the pattern of her coat, which resembled the style of a fabric known as brocade. He hasn't battled with her though, or gotten to know her very well, so he wants to offer her to one of his siblings.
Her new owner is free to change her name, though for consistency's sake her gender should stay the same. No personality has been developed for her, so you're free to come up with you own.
The perks of being a gym trainer: Honestly, Lyle can't offer a lot to gym trainers, even his siblings. The Pokemon League pays for maintenance of the gym, things like food, utilities, and whatever's needed to keep gym residents and their pokemon healthy. (In addition Lyle gets a small salary, but one is not provided to gym trainers.)
But that does mean that gym trainers get free food, health care supplies, and a clean, freshly renovated bedroom they don't have to share with anybody. (Which is why Lyle applied to be a gym trainer in Motterossa in the first place; it's a big step up from living with a poor family in a crowded apartment.) Lyle is also willing to buy his sibling new clothes out of his own salary.

Lyle needs more than one gym trainer. One trainer from the gym leader hiring has already agreed to be a gym trainer, but Lyle would like to have at least 3. His requirements are simple: he wants trainers who already have at least one pokemon of their own (and therefore must be at least 10, old enough to have a trainer's license), but will accept trainers of any experience level, even if they've never battled before. He got the same job with only one pokemon and a handful of battles, and he wants to offer the same chance to anyone else. They also have to be available at least part of the time to battle gym challengers, but do not have to be there constantly. Lyle himself is still a student, so weekdays he's usually at school.
The perks of being a gym trainer: The benefits are pretty much the same as outlined above: free room, board and health care supplies. It's a good chance for someone to gain battle experience, but it's not fancy.

Cricket family sibling, reporting for duty! Trainer Name: Sterling Cricket Trainer class(es): Healer and Watcher Gender: Male Age: 17 Description: As the first child born into the Cricket family, Sterling has watched his brother and sisters grow up, and has helped them along the way. Though he can appear rather gruff and quiet, he is always watching for their needs and providing for them when they need it, and has been known to silently put a plate of food in front of one of them when they begin to get grumpy. Sterling dropped out of school at sixteen, when he became old enough to hold down a steady job, so he could take care of his family. His day runs from three in the morning to eight in the evening, when he puts the twins to sleep before their mother gets home; his shift at the fast food place is from four to noon. He has become an accomplished cook over the years, since eventually, his siblings began to demand more than a mac and cheese and sandwich diet. The only thing he refuses to cook is seafood, as he hates the way it smells - and smells up the house.
Sterling has always loved pokemon and the many gifts they bring to the world, but has never seen himself as having time to pursue a career as a trainer or anything else. For a long time, his siblings were too young to take care of themselves while their mother was at work, so Sterling stepped in to help them after school. He has a few free hours every day before they get home from school, and during that time, he reads about pokemon and goes out to look at them on the plains. Because he has helped raise four younger siblings and tended their wounds (sometimes from each other) over the years, Sterling has a bit of medical experience and knows a few quick household remedies. When he goes out into the plains, he's learned to carry water and corn starch with him to rehydrate pokemon hurt in battle and stop bleeding from their wounds. Wild pokemon, when he can get them to trust him for a moment, are his most frequent patients, but occasionally he'll stumble across a trainer with hurt pokemon.
Overall, Sterling is a deeply caring person who often hides and is discreet about his opinions in favor of helping others with their immediate problems, rather than judging them for whatever it is they've done. If asked (or furious) about a situation, he may give advice about how to prevent another possibly dangerous or aggravated situation in the future (for example, he would tell someone to carry some easy medical supplies on them if they're going to battle their pokemon down to nothing). He's a problem solver, but sometimes his logic can be flawed. He has some omnipresent inner turmoil about his decision for family over school and has tried to continue his studies of pokemon in his free time, but things like complicated math (beyond basic algebra) and essay-writing have fallen to the wayside. A man of actions rather than words, Sterling is more grown up than most seventeen year olds, and honestly, wouldn't trade his family for the world... But he's beginning to see that he needs to let them grow up, too. He can't take care of them forever - after all, his younger brother is already a gym leader. Maybe it's time that Sterling looks to his own future.
Appearance: Sterling is tall and almost startling thin and pale, with dark brown hair and blue eyes. As time goes on and he gets stronger, he will begin to look a bit more healthy - right now he's feeling rather worn. When he goes out on the plains, he is very careful with his sunscreen, so he hasn't really gotten tan from his adventures out there.
Goals: Having only read about most pokemon, Sterling wants to see them with his own eyes. Deep in the back of his mind, there is an inkling of someday being a Pokemon Researcher, but he hasn't thought that far into the future yet. For now, he wants to see pokemon and learn from them, build close relationships with them. Sometimes he dreams of having a small herd of equid and deer-like pokemon, but those are mostly idle thoughts... However, when his brother came home with a Deerling, he couldn't hide his affection for it, even though it wasn't his. He's enjoyed watching it change through the seasons and evolve.
Why he/she would like/wouldn't mind being a gym trainer: Though he thinks it might be selfish, Sterling is beginning to think it might be time to have his own life, rather than dedicating it all to his family. His younger sister is old enough to take care of the twins, and they're old enough not to set the apartment on fire - or so he hopes. Sterling would like to be a gym trainer, firstly because it would mean he would have his own space, but he would still have the freedom to have his job and help the family. Secondly, he wouldn't be a strain on the income anymore, as he'd have his own food and medical supplies, so maybe his mother would be able to afford more things for the girls. Thirdly, he would be able to see all the pokemon that go through the gym and meet them - but I think after battles that require pokemon to report to a Pokemon Center, he would want to be there to administer emergency aid if it was required before moving the pokemon.
He would probably battle in the afternoon hours, between his job and when the girls are done with school, so he could go home and help them with homework and make dinner for them. (This is all assuming they go to a regularly scheduled school program - I've seen kids going on adventures and to pokemon academies, but I'm not sure if I've seen a "core education" school in the world of Pokemon. XD ) He would also be willing to cook for the trainers and Lyle at the gym, because it's something soothing that he enjoys after long days.
Sawsbuck name: Brocade; Sterling has always known her as Brocade, and so wouldn't change her name. Personality: Brocade is very perceptive, watching everything with wary eyes. Calculating and observant, she rarely makes friends, but the ones she does are for life. She sees the Cricket family as her family and will protect them with her life. She's very aware of her antlers and likes to nudge people with her nose to get their attention, carefully keeping her head tilted back so they don't get a face full of spines when they turn around to talk to her. One of the things that she has had the least opportunity to show off is what she believes is her ability in battle, which she would like to use as a means to show her family that she is worthy of training... But again, she hasn't seemed to have had the opportunity, so she might be ornery for a while. In addition to that, Brocade is a bit possessive of her trainer, so if Sterling were to get another pokemon, the poor thing would have to put up with her until she relaxed.

Cricket family sibling, reporting for duty! Trainer Name: Elijah Cricket Trainer class(es): Trainer/Healer Gender: Male Age: 18 Description: Elijah is tall and incredibly lanky. His metabolism's always been too fast for how much his family could afford to feed him, which left him rather gangly. He has black hair just like Lyle and it always looks like he just rolled out of bed - and, er, not in a good way. One thing he has going from him is his striking blue eyes, which he'd been told he inherited from his father.
Elijah's a kind of complicated character. Growing up he enjoyed the attention he got from his mother; even after his sister was born she still gave the two of them loads of attention (as much as she possibly had to give in her busy days, anyway). However, once Lyle was born things started changing around the house, and got even worse so with the birth of the twins. He knows that his mother had absolutely no control over the way she divided her attention; the older children need less care, and thus she had to focus on the younger ones. But it still pushed Elijah into himself, in a way, and he became kind of a shut-in, spending most of his time alone, as far away from all the fuss. He always leapt to action when he heard things like fights break out because he did truly want the best for his family, always the first to soothe the wounds the tiffs might cause, but then he would retreat back to his space and continue on doing what he'd been doing.
Overall Elijah is a rather kind and selfless individual, he just feels that he's better off keeping to himself unless he's needed. Staying out of the way, he believes, is the best way to help his mom manage the household. Why he/she would like/wouldn't mind being a gym trainer: He honestly never really wandered outside of the house. Elijah likes to stick around in case he's needed, and so he's never gotten to explore or really interact much with Pokemon at all. He's always wondered about them, striking up conversation with Lyle and observing his interactions with his own Pokemon, but never has he put himself out there enough to try to catch one of his own. He loves being useful to his mother whenever he can, but he knows there's so much in the world he hasn't experienced and he sees this opportunity as a way to free up space in the home while opening up to something he thinks he might really enjoy. Also, although he'd never admit this, he wants to be a more social person and he'd love for this position as a trainer to force him out of his comfort zone of solitude and into a land of getting to know other people.
Sawsbuck name: Brocade Personality: Brocade is Elijah's polar opposite. She is constantly in motion, prancing about, seeking things to do. She is extremely kind but sometimes a tad bit much for others to handle. Brocade seeks attention like no other and therefore feels most comfortable in a large group of people/Pokemon.
(I quite like to think Lyle innocently offered Brocade up very purposefully, hoping she would actively work to pull Elijah out of his shell. xD)

Also, small correction for his history: by the time Lyle caught any pokemon besides Spinel, he was already living in the Motterossa Gym, so he was not living back home when he caught Brocade. He would certainly come by to visit from time to time, or send emails home telling about his pokemon, so Sterling could have met/seen Brocade then.

Thank you so much! Um~ I think Sterling would be most inclined toward the bedroom in the northeast corner of the image. Corner room = windows = extra daylight, which will probably help him stay on schedule (and also allow good light for reading XD ).
Poke me if you and Zakiax would like to do some room-mate type RPs, or if you would like to do an RP between Lyle and Sterling - I know I would. He could cook or do some first aid or meet the rest of the gang, etc.

Personality He is quite adventurous and enjoys exploring new cities, caves, buildings, etc. If he finds places in which he thinks they could profit off of, then he will report it back to TRHQ. Sometimes his ego gets to him since he knows he's good looking to be featured in magazine covers. When that happens he'll become pig-headed. Watch out though, if he wants something from you, he could keep a conversation going and end up leading you into crowded places full of people (and pokemon). His thieving hands will naturally go to work and steal things.
Why he/she would like/wouldn't mind being a gym trainer: Since his fashion model job is only seasonal, he has a lot of spare time on his hands. He keeps himself busy by training his pokemon to become stronger while having a good time as he steals things from strangers. The notice about a free room, board, and health care supplies made him become interested. Having this job means that he doesn't need to rent out an apartment anymore and it may reduce his habit of stealing. Being a Rocket Trainee and a Traveler means that he will not always be around, but if the Gym Leader gives him a call in advance about events happening in the gym, he would be there.

She ran away from home to Zatao, where she met Lenore. After requesting that she help her catch a pokemon, Jin-Gitaxias offered to join her for unknown reasons. Trainer Name:Merle Wylde [WIP] Trainer class(es): Trainer Gender: Female Age: 16 Description: Merle is a bit of a wild child, now that her grandparents don't have a say in how she dresses or acts, she's gobbling up the freedom. As soon as she made it into Katarina, she dyed her hair and even went to get her ears pierced. She's finally her own person and she intends to live it to the fullest! She's still got their backing, but not for long. The sooner she's independent the better! Merle's dream is to be an Ace Bird Keeper. She longs for a team of tough and highly trained companions with which she can explore the world. Maybe even show people that flying types are not to be trifled with. She even has her team name all picked out! She and the Wild Wings are here to rock, so hopefully her challengers can roll with it! Why he/she would like/wouldn't mind being a gym trainer: Merle would love to be a gym trainer. It would certainly let her meet more folks with the same goals. She wants to be an Ace Trainer and with a nice flow of challengers, she'll get all the practice she needs to reach her goal. Plus, the benefits or being a gym trainer are quite a plus! The housing gets her off her grandparent's tab and she's then free to pick up odd jobs here and there to cover any other odds and ends she needs.

XD Suddenly Lyle has a lot of applicants! While he'd love to give everyone a chance, he doesn't have enough space to house all the applicants. So he'll be hard pressed to make a decision. In the mean time, he'd like to point out that the Motterossa Gym is now in need of a new gym assistant as well.

What are your goals as a trainer?: My goals as a trainer are to gather a team of bird Pokemon and to be an Ace Trainer. How often will you be available to accept gym challenges?: Anytime the need arises. I want to be a go to trainer for this gym.
