The Jagged Pass is a small area which leads down from the top of Mt. Chimney all the way to the base by Lavaridge Town. This area is typically only able to be traversed from the top, but you can climb up it if you have the right equipment.

With the battling done with, and having reached their destination, Jay took a moment to heal up his pokemon with a few potions. He straightened up, though, turning towards the old man, who had gone still, but he could feel standing beside him. "Thank ya much fer yer help, Carl," he remarked, giving an appreciative tip of his hat, "And thuh battle. Was mighty int'restin'. Ah dun s'pose ye'll be stickin' 'round?" The old man turned towards him, giving a nod. "Given your pokemon's performance, I think you'll be alright on you're own. Good luck, sunnyboy, and remember, wait until you find the right pokemon. Don't go grabbing the first thing you see," he said, turning, and heading out. Jacque smiled, shaking his head a bit, and turning to venture into the pass. What an odd old man....
It wasn't long before he encountered a Numel, but he frowned, pausing a moment. Oddly enough, he couldn't help but think about the old man's advice. The pokemon were apparently abundant here... perhaps it would be best not to just grab the first one he encountered. He released Mime Jr, to help him, but has Tod go ahead and wipe the pokemon out with a water attack.

Ah heard sometimes y'can find some items that're dropped'r somethin', 'n ah'd like ta see what might be nearby," he asked. She blinked, but then nodded. "Sure, Jay! Can Ralward come?" she asked. He paused at the nickname, but shook it off, nodding and releasing the other psychic-fairy pokemon, and then turning to the battle as Quena came bounding back to be returned to her pokeball.

Was this becoming a pattern? Mime Jr came running over just as another Spoink appeared, and Jay turned towards her, a bit hurriedly. "Jay! Jay! Look what we found! I found this pretty scale, and a Tm! And Ralts found a FOSSIL!" she exclaimed. He was actually impressed, but leaned down, holding out his hand. "Here, gimme the scale. Ah wanna teach ya a move ta take out this here pok'mon," he urged. Mime Jr blinked, but handed him the scale. He used it to teach her Signal Beam, then gathered the other items, giving them each a pat on the head, and straightening up, turning back towards the spoink as Mime Jr ran forward. Ralts shifted closer to Jay, watching with his hand at his mouth, quiet and demure as ever.

Finally, a different pokemon showed up. Jay frowned, holding up his pokedex. Machop, huh...? That was a fighting type, if he recalled correctly. Mime Jr would be able to take care of that, so he quickly used some potions to bring her to full health, and sent her out against the muscled pokemon. As she defeated it, it occurred to him that, actually... he could really be catching some of these, and hurled a pokeball out, snagging the pokemon, and sending it to the PC.

Another Machop followed suit, and Mimey was ably to take it down just as quickly, taking only another 5 health. The battles certainly weren't producing exactly the pokemon he'd been hoping for, but... they at least seemed to be doing the trick on training... He just hoped that it wasn't all in vein. The Numel he had caught had fainted, so he wouldn't be able to train it, which meant he had pretty much decided to do a bit more training here, and then start heading back, and return to Pinwheel Forest to do some final training, particularly with the Numel, and finally challenge the Gym Leader.

The next time a Machop showed up, Jay sent out Heracross. Mime Jr had taken quite a few hits and was working hard-- even Jay could tell she was getting tired. Besides, Heracross could use the training, too, and he was getting about ready to leave. He just wanted to give a few of his pokemon a final chance to train, but maybe he'd come back sometime, given he was pretty sure he'd seen all the pokemon in this area, and if he needed to train pokemon strong against them, it would be a good place to go to.
