We return to this wonderful time of the year. Love has taken force on the SDRP Academy and brought a stash of events to tickle your fancy and express your feelings for others. We welcome you to come witness the cycles of love and all the stages of heartache in this fantastical tale! We just can't guarantee that you won't become an actor yourself!
Background: In world of innocence and beauty located in some pocket dimension in the world of SDRP, Lovebirds are the name given to undercover operations specialists who are in charge of going on missions to help couples fulfill their Valentines Day wishes and fall in love. Everything would go according to plan if only there were not mischievous Cupids running amuck, pretending to be Lovebirds when they are not. Instead of helping to further the cause, they like being naughty and making a mess of otherwise seamless dates. In this world, the fate of love rests in your hands.
Gameplay: The game play write up here is designed to be as clear as possible. That said, it is rather information heavy, but please don't let that dissuade you from joining! There will be instructions along the way during gameplay and you will be welcome to ask the GM (i.e. me, Watervoir) questions privately through PM at any time.
Each person may only participate with one account. Additionally, all communication about the game must be done in the forums unless the conversation is with me (during which you may PM me). No privately telling each other your secrets and spoiling the game that way. All behaviours such as hinting at each other and claiming innocence and pretending to be Lovebirds MUST take place in this thread and in this thread only.
Initial Preparation: I am the Game Master for this game.
I will be taking sign ups until I have 8 people. If this number is not met by Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 11:59 pm PST, then the game will start when at least 5 people have signed up.
Next, one third of the group (rounded up) will be selected to be Cupids. Then, each participant will receive a PM telling them whether they are a Lovebird or a Cupid. Cupids will be informed of the other Cupids amongst the players, but Lovebirds will not be informed of the roles of any other players.
Rounds - General: Lovebirds must succeed on 3 missions to win. Cupids must fail 3 missions to win. If Lovebirds win, then Cupids do not win, and vice versa.
Gameplay will consists of rounds and sub-rounds. Each round, a team leader proposes a mission by assigning people to go on the mission. This is followed by a vote by everyone on whether or not the mission should be allowed to happen. If it is allowed to happen, then the participants in the mission individually decide on the outcome of the mission. Based on the results, a mission will either be declared a success or a failure.
I will quote everyone at the start of each stage, and perhaps even while the stage is happening, to better keep everything running smoothly.
More details on how everything will happen exactly to follow:
Rounds - Step One: Mission Proposal: I will randomly select someone to be the first team leader. This person will select a number of people to go on the mission. This person will post in this thread saying who they are selecting to go on the mission (i.e., this information will be public).
This stage will take (at most) three days, to better let everyone discuss their options.
The exact number is specified by the number of players and is as follows:
Missions marked with asterisk (*) require two Fails for the mission to fail
Rounds - Step Two: Mission Voting: After the team leader proposes a mission, all players get to vote on whether or not this mission will take place. In order to place their vote, players will send a PM to me (Watervoir) telling them whether they APPROVE or REJECT a mission. You must get your vote in to me within 24 hours after the proposal has been made and the voting stage has begun. You may not change your vote after it has been submitted.
When all of the votes have been submitted, I will reveal in this thread who voted on what. If more than 50% of the players accept a mission, then the mission will happen, and the game moves on to Step Three. Otherwise, the game moves back to Step One, a new team leader in turn order is selected, and a new team proposal is made and voted on.
If four mission proposals are rejected in a row, then the fifth mission proposal will go through for sure.
Rounds - Step Three: Mission Execution: If a mission happens, then the participants in the mission will be asked to send a PM to me (Watervoir) to say whether they will contribute to mission SUCCESS or to mission FAILURE. Lovebirds must play SUCCESS, but Cupids may play either SUCCESS or FAILURE. You must give me your mission result within 24 hours after the mission execution stage has begun.
When all mission success/failure options have been played, I will reveal the results, but won't reveal who played which option. If even one failure appears (unless stated otherwise), then the mission is a failure.
Game end: The game ends when three missions have been successful (Lovebirds win), or when three missions have failed (Cupids win).
Prizes: All participants will receive 50 mil and an Achievement for participating!
All winners will receive an additional 200mil gold plus an Achievement for winning!
More prizes may be added as we go on!
Note that prizes will only be given to players who finish the game.
