3/18/15: Roseryn grew to Adept! 3/17/15: Rose chose his clan: Ysali. 12/22/14: Roseryn was allowed into the world. Oh, no.

He is more than willing to accept every challenge thrown at him and goes at everything with all of the power he is capable of. He is not without limits, and is just as likely to fail as to succeed. His willingness to persevere past such failures (riddled with much frustration, annoyance, and downright aggression as they may be), and continue to improve is what sets him apart from the rest of his father's children.
Even as a young child, Rose never shied from the person his father expected him to become: powerful, intelligent, dignified- a leader for both his people and all those of Magesc. So while he is still small, with much to learn and still completely untried, he takes a ridiculous amount of offense to anyone that indicates he is less capable at doing anything and takes a great deal of pride in showing his opposition otherwise- be it by force or deceit. He is incredibly spiteful and will fixate adamantly on people who upset him.
Repeated praise at his accomplishments (from both parents) have instilled a sense of superiority, confidence, and self-reliance. For the most part. While he prefers to train and study alone, he still has a very discernible soft-spot for all in his family. Rose doesn't personally find much use in "playing," but it is an activity his youngest siblings take great joy in, and it's appealing enough to humor their pastimes if it does anything to make them smile. On the other hand, he has virtually no desire to engage anyone else in useless activities. He sees little value in those that aren't his immediate kin and even less in those that have different ideals than his own. Roseryn's father teaches 'Dovaa supremacy,' so he is hateful of Orderites and Oblivionites. The soulless race in particular seems even more different physiologically, and inspires substantially more loathing.
Despite his distaste for people, Rose is fully capable of understanding their ridiculously complex thought processes. Magescians are all remarkably baser creatures, with conflicting wants, desires, feelings, and hopes. It's a little bit of a strain, but he isn't incapable of appealing to strangers' sensibilities if it furthers his own ends. Particularly when it comes to revenge. If someone hurts him, they should full-well expect that Rose will do everything in his power to get even. While, conversely, he is willing to offer some degree of retribution to people he offends. Within limits, of course. Naturally, he will never admit to being wrong and apologizing is out of the question.
As he ages, Roseryn adopts a more casual, laid-back, friendly guise, spurred on by a misuse of the Ysali magic he learns to control. A constant stream of narcotics addling his mind tends to leave him euphoric when high and downright moody and easy to offend when sober. He has a strong interest in a great variety of drugs with differing effects and will experiment with anything, but always swings back to depressants most frequently. Description: Apprentice A spry young lad with a mop of grab-able messy red curls, dark, watchful lavender eyes and an array of white thorn-like spikes bristling from the left side of his body. His curved, white, swooping, branched horns are all but lost in his mane. Despite his tender age, he's already taken on an array of physical training regimes from his father, including hand-to-hand, fencing, archery, and anything else his old man deems worthy for a noble-born lad to know. As such, he's developed a lean, fit frame that will likely continue to show once he's older. There isn't much that amuses him as a youngster, so he seems to be frowning a good bit of the time... Adept Due to the physical exercises Rose has done since he was a young child, he's developed into a lean, tightly muscled young man. He is of average height (5'11") and unlikely to grow any taller, with pointed ears and high cheekbones and a smug set to his lips. Choosing the Ysali clan has turned his eyes a bright, toxic green, and his horns have developed into a form reminiscent of thorny, curled vines. While the bases of them are white, as they've always been, they gradually deepen to a dark emerald near the tips. The thorn-scales along his left side remain white. And from the left his thick red curls drops a single straight strand of emerald, to match his clan. Background: Daemo was born a high-class noble with the exact same type of father as he turned out to be for his kids; stern, expectant, dutiful- more like a soldier than a devoted daddy. The only difference was that Daemo didn't have six siblings distracting, encouraging, and challenging him. He more or less turned out to be an obliging puppet to his father's whims. He married the woman his father selected and continues to pass on the same ideals to his children. He took over the family practice and intends to pass it on, as well.
Perennis was a quiet, sickly, pushover of a woman. She could be expected to be a decent breeder, so long as all of her children didn't turn out sickly like her. And if they did, she could be disposed of easily, as the woman had little prestige of her own. Her only hope of surviving beyond her teen years was the excellent health care that could be supplied by Deamo's family. It quickly became apparent the two were not romantically attracted to each other. Or attracted to each other at all. She bore his children, lived on his estate, and hoped to avoid her husband, otherwise.
Roseryn was the second-born of the unlikely and unenthused couple. For years, he was on the backburner; pushed to the wayside while his father focused on his first son, Soldaster. Training Aster, teaching Aster, pushing. Aster. The firstborn, the one who would carry on the lineage, the one expected of great things. Rose wanted that. Rose wanted to be tested, challenged, trusted. He was just as capable as Aster. To be fair, most of his siblings were just as capable as Aster, if not more so. And it wasn't long before Daemo realized that. Without actually meaning to (but still ridiculously enthused by it), Rose outshone his older brother.
He displayed a stronger affinity for just about everything his father expected of his children, barring anything that required communication with others. He excelled in their home-schooling and actually enjoyed physical training. What he doesn't particularly enjoy is anything that requires him to leave the estate. He isn't particularly adventurous, doesn't get along well with others that are unrelated to him, and finds anything that could possibly happen outside the security of his home is likely to be unsightly.
The only things that encouraged him outside the estate's walls were his younger siblings. They are all active, excitable, and adventurous, and he is not one to be outshone in any matter, and it is only due to their enthusiasm that Rose comes to appreciate travel, though he is still vehemently against going alone. It is with this in mind that he travels to Serenia alongside his brothers Soldaster and Quince. Their exploits there turn out to be more exciting (and dreadful) than any of them could imagine, and Rose ends up choosing the Ysali clan to save himself from a lethal dose of venom.
Tensions rise at home as Deamo's treachery and dishonesty towards the family is revealed. Roseryn and Quince escape on a class trip to Eowyn. Little did they expect to be abducted by pirates within the first few days.
Thoughts on the Great Engagement: Killing is such a useless way to obtain power. If both sides are simply going to wipe each other out, wouldn't it be for the best if the Dovaa simply subjugated them both? In his mind (and per his father's teachings), this is the best solution for everyone. The goddesses of darkness and light erred in their ways and created two races that are essentially opposite, but equal in power. One never has any hope of conquering the other. They'll simply kill each other off. If that were to happen, who would be left to serve the Dovaa?
Thoughts on the Dragons and Khehora: Dragons are tests of strength and courage and do not deserve fear or respect. Khehora are basically just smaller dragons, with a slightly higher capacity for intelligence and a much higher capacity to be able to control them. Rose should like to control a khehora one day.
Thoughts on Oblivionites: Oblivionites are hardly even people. They are soulless, mindless husks that have no right to want or dream of anything. They were literally created to be nothing but drones to a goddess who shows no current interest in the world. Oblivionites are the lowest of the low, beneath even hybrids.
Thoughts on Orderites: Substantially less disgusting than Oblivionites, and the group Rose's family has decided to "side with" until this conflict can be resolved. While the family as a whole is on friendly enough terms with them, Rose sees Orderites being more useful as pretty, colorful servants to their Dovaa masters. In a perfect world, this is how it would be. Perhaps one day.
Thoughts on Dovaa: How anyone could fail to see the Dovaa as the superior race is a mystery to him.The are innately capable of wielding a much more vast array of magic, are intellectuals and peace-bringers by design, and furthermore their god created them after witnessing the trail and error of his sisters. The third, the best, and clearly the most powerful, Dovaa were created to be Magesc's rulers.
Thoughts on Hybrids: Interesting, deformed specimens. While there are worse things in the world, hybrids have very little place in Rose's vision for the future. They were already born of people who break rules and spit on authority, so that doesn't give them much hope where that is concerned. But they're unusual, novel, and have probably seen things Rose can't even imagine. He should like to speak with one. Just once or twice.
» Ysali Abilities Buffs: ● Increased Magical Attack versus Peisio and Gaili Dovaa and Khehora (x2 Damage) Debuffs: ● Slightly decreased Magical Attack versus Ysali and Aiskala Dovaa and Khehora (x.8 Damage) ● Decreased Magical Attack versus Ayrala and Firani Dovaa and Khehora (x.5 Damage) Skills: ● Grants Ability Vine Summon > Grasp - Every Ysali can summon 2 vines from the ground and entangle an opponent for one turn, allowing the next attack to be a hit, regardless of die roll. Costs 30 Energy. ● Grants Ability Healing Touch - Heals 25 Life Points (when INT > 15). Usable 5 times per encounter. Costs 10 Energy. ● Grants Ability Leech Vitality - Summons a small vine that wraps around the opponents leg, stealing energy. If hit - Steals 15 Energy from an opponent but boosts the user with 30 (when INT > 15). Usable 3 times per encounter. ● Grants Ability Poison Bomb - Using Ysali Magic, the Dovaa or Khehora blows poisons into their hand, containing it in a magical sphere. When thrown at the enemy, if they are in the affected area of the bomb's explosion (if the attack is a hit), they will instantly become poisoned for the next 7 turns. The first three turns, 10 damage is taken due to the immense stress of the poison taking effect. The next 4 turns, the damage is reduced to 5. Once those 7 turns are over, the poison has fully worn off. Those who were stricken with the poison are now immune to it the rest of the battle. Ysali are immune to the poison regardless (when INT > 30). Costs 20 Energy. ● Grants Ability Majestic Rejuvenation - Every time the user heals someone or uses Leech Vitality (whether the attack hits or misses), the plant life around them begins to glow a faint green, increasing the user's Intellect by 2 points per heal or leech used and allows them to use a new heal called Rejuvenate, which, when used, heals an ally for 1.5 LP or 1.5 Energy per 1 INT (ie: 50 INT = 75 Healing Done, 75 Energy Rejuvenated). Can only be used once (when INT > 50).

» Weapon Specials Etched Coin adds +5 to INT [Bonus already added to stats]. Vendetta is a rapier given to Rose by his father. During his younger years, it is his preferred form of combat and his only weapon prior to his clan choosing. He shows relatively ample affinity to it and is nearly as comfortable with Vendetta as he would be wielding magic. Ysali magic immediately grants +10 to INT upon clan choosing [Bonus already added to stats].

P L O T S
o1. College of Sorcery RP. Rose is not amused, but someone probably is. o2. Aster being disowned by note, coupled with Embryl leaving the children on Serenia to discuss the decision with Daemo. o3. Roseryn meets the Dealer, and demands to know why he's lingering around. o4. After a hunt involving venomous animals, Roseryn is poisoned, and chooses the Ysali clan to cure himself, with his brother's guidance. Unfortunately, no one seems quite enthralled by the choice. o5. They return home. Satisfied with his decision and progress, Rose heads to see Marcus Ysaride. o6. The Charlotte Arc.
-- After initial meeting, Quince decides to stalk Char back to her ship. Rose begrudgingly follows. They argue the entire way until one of Char's crewmates sees them stalking her and abruptly attacks and captures them (solo). -- Char confronts them in holding. Quince convinces her to convince her father to free them. Char admits they were going to be ransomed. Quince expresses a desire to stay. Rose freaks out (prp). -- Rose complains to Quince about how their mother will be missing them, and what of Aster, and they shouldn't be away from home so long. Quince is pretty nonchalant (solo). -- Rose and Cici learn a new trick. Rose is a gambling man (solo). -- They land in Soudul. Charlotte (being an Orderite) elects to stay on board. Rose, being extra hateful of Oblivionites, also decides to stay behind while Quince and others explore. Char questions Rose about his home life (prp). -- Rose adamantly pushes Char away from both himself and Quince while she's just excited to have someone near to her age along for the ride (prp). -- Quince notices that Rose is starting to smoke pretty heavily. While he doesn't mind the attitude adjustment, he doesn't care for the smell and doubts their father would either (solo). -- The ship docks on Ayr. Char wants to show her new friends how to have fun in the mountains (prp/hunt?). -- Char stumbles upon Rose while he's high as a kite. While the encounter is playful initially, it ends in sloppy make-out that Quince discovers (prp). -- Back to reality, Rose freaks out over what happened with Char. He informs Quince that a year is enough sailing, and it's time for them to go home. Quince argues that Rose was hardly lucid enough to gauge the passing of time, anyway (solo). -- On Serenia, Quince admits that he has no desire to return home. Rose begs him to come back with him, but ultimately, Cici refuses (solo). -- While sulking near the house that he chose his clan in, Rose has his first encounter with Hei. -- Rose bids Char and Cici farewell (prp).

-- Back home, Roseryn must explain his absence for the past year, while omitting the fact that Quince is still alive. Aster and Rose bond. -- As a present for his 17th birthday, Rose is granted a Peisio khehora egg; Iorangi.

Orderite ❤Charlotte: A girl a few years younger than Rose that clearly has roots in piracy, played by Nye U-chan. 'My brother has taken an almost disturbing interest to this pirate-slum-girl. She doesn't seem so interesting to me. Just a low-talent wench with a penchant for thievery and getting herself into trouble. Though I suppose even the dumbest dogs can be taught worthwhile tricks. It didn't take much to prompt her into a more polite and subservient mindset.' ❤Laesara: A young noble girl around the same age as Rose, played by DraconicFeline. 'Laesara is a girl that deserves some respect, I suppose, despite her poor choice of companionship. She's a noble lady that could literally have anything she wants, yet she settles for some bumbling idiot that will do nothing for her future as a friend. Really, I think anyone should be more of an asset than Malikai... Maybe Orderite nobles don't teach their children such things.' ¤Malikai: A chubby peasant boy that is 'squire' to Laesara, played by The Only Black Uke. 'For whatever reason, this boy was following after Laesara like some ill-bred mutt. I don't know why a lady has taken an interest in a peasant, but for all that she clearly values him on some degree, I don't sense much worth in him. He isn't quick or talented or intelligent. He's just... a really dopey peasant boy. I don't know what he's up to, but I expect if he's so intent on clinging to Laesara's coattails, I'll find out soon enough.'
NPCs ❤Amaryllis (Lis): Younger brother by one year. Unchosen. Short Description: One half of a whole terror. Amaryllis is Lia's second half. The two are practically never apart for any reason. Since they come as a united pair, they tend to forgo most of their parents' and siblings' desires and instead focus on things that reach their own ends. Lis in particular is a little more reserved. He would rather be safely glued to his sister's side rather than anywhere else and tends to linger closely behind her like a shadow when they're in public. They tend to communicate with Rose by way of passed notes with secret meanings. Rose is delightfully amused by them. He'll select the Firani path. 'Lis is a good lad. I don't have ample opportunity to spend with him, but he certainly prefers his sister's company, anyway, as far as I can see. He's a little shier (maybe even the most reserved out of all of my siblings), and I don't see him as doing too well on his own. But he's still young. Plenty of time to grow out of it. Until then, I don't think there's any harm in letting him behave as he will. It seems unlikely that he'll be required to take over much of the family's responsibilities, anyway.' ❤Daermo (Sir): Father. Kiandri. Short Description: "Love" isn't an emotion much attributed to this man. He married his wife because she was the woman selected for him. He had a son with her because someone needed to continue the family name. His various other children are just fortunate coincidences, probably. Nonetheless, he is a practical being and values accomplishment and respect from others, rather than the person him/herself. While he originally placed much of his futuristic ideals on his eldest son, Aster was quick to crumble, and he instead switched his lofty ambitions to Rose's shoulders. Despite saddling his second son with the most expectations, he still demands success and achievement from all his children. 'My father. I don't want to call what I have for him 'respect,' but it's also more noteworthy than mere 'tolerance.' So I can only say it hinges between those two on any given day. Sir is stern, strict, and extremely intolerant of anything that strays from his ideals by even a fraction. He can come off as quite rude, and much of the time, I don't appreciate how he speaks to my mother or my siblings. I am forced to respect the wishes of someone older, more experienced, and higher ranked than I am, but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy it.' ❤Dahlia (Lia): Younger sister by one year. Unchosen. Short Description: One half of a whole terror. Dahlia is Lis' second half. The two are practically never apart for any reason. Since they come as a united pair, they tend to forgo most of their parents' and siblings' desires and instead focus on things that reach their own ends. Dahlia in particular is a little more lively. She is much more self-reliant than her brother and tends to be the one that carries out the 'sneaking' aspect of many of their 'missions.' They tend to communicate with Rose by way of passed notes with secret meanings. He is delightfully amused by them. She'll select the Firani path. 'Lia and Lis are closest to me in age, but somehow... They truly are the most unique of all my siblings. They're flighty, and a little careless, and anyone with eyes can see that they don't give two shits about anyone who isn't one of them. To some extent, anyway. Lia and Lis love their other siblings as much as the rest of us, but they share a unique, intimate bond that I'm a little envious of. Lia is a little more fun, a little more loud, and more bold to boot. She could probably make anyone happy with her antics, but she'd never leave her twin brother behind. I both enjoy and loathe seeing them together in a way I can't fully explain...' ❤Embryl: Manservant, whipping dog. Ayrala. Short Description: Embryl is essentially Daemo's trusted adviser. If Daemo had anything remotely similar to an actual "friend," it would be this man here. He's a little more forgiving and a little more gentle and tends to take on all of the actual fatherly duties that Daemo has shunned. Rose looks at him as if he is a new challenge. He doesn't share their last name and so is not "family" by any means, as much as he tries to be. Embryl is little more than a target to be taken out. 'Embryl is a man I do not care for, despite how my mother, my father, and all of my other siblings look to him as if he is someone important. As far as I can tell, he was never a noble, and doesn't have any actual place amongst our house, outside of what my father needs from him. Of course, it's been drawn to my attention that Embryl actually plays some substantial part in guiding and protecting my siblings and I. While I don't think that he should be responsible for such things, I do appreciate the care he takes to tend to my younger siblings' needs.' ❤Iris: Younger sister by six years. Unchosen. Short Description: Iris is extraordinarily petite in frame and is generally seen to be the weakest member of the family. She is pale, sickly, and bespectacled, always sniffling and rubbing her eyes. Her closest bond is to Aster, due to their similar circumstances of being unfavored by their father. She is a gentle, very concerned child and encourages all of her siblings to do their best "for her." While her parents don't particularly expect her to survive to adulthood, she will eventually choose the Ayrala clan and gain freedom in the wind. 'There are days that Iris makes me sad just by looking at her. She's so small and weak. No one expects any form out of success from her, and she knows it. Somehow that makes her predicament even worse. For all our power and influence, no amount of healers seem to be able to make her completely well. And so Iris is... not in a good way. I do my best to keep her happy. I don't want her to strain herself, and there's no need to exacerbate her condition. If I can take her out for an occasional dose of freedom, it is within my rights (and duties) as her older brother to do so. She is a Vayne, and she deserves at least this much.' ¤Ithric Kasuk: College of Sorcery professor. Peisio. Short Description: Ithric is a Dovaa nobody that resides in Astral City proper. While he has a penchant for never staying in one place too long and not dabbling in the same activities forever, he has taken up work as a professor, in hopes of teaching young Dovaa a bit about magic, the world, and fun. He is a bit of a goof ball and doesn't seem to have much respect where levels of aristocracy are concerned. Roseryn isn't thrilled about this man's involvement in his studies, and actual goes to great lengths to ignore Ithric's teachings and advice, a feeling that only worsens the more times they meet. 'I like to think I deserve the respect of many of the unsavory townsfolk that take up residence in Astral City. I am a noble. They may as well just be my subjects. Conversely, I think I give others the type of respect or treatment they deserve. I'm not unreasonable. I just don't want people who have no rights trying to tell me what to do and how to live my life or teaching me the ways of the world, or whatever garbage this man is spouting. Thankfully, we haven't had many run-ins as of yet, but I have a feeling this isn't the end of our line...' ❤Perennis (Ma): Mother. Peisio. Short Description: A gentle, forgiving woman who places more value in her children for exactly that- they are her children, and their accomplishments and mistakes do not define them. While she has an obvious soft-spot for her first son, she cherishes all of her babies with an unconditional love. She is at constant odds with her husband, where parental tactics are concerned, but her undisciplined, forgiving ways are easily overthrown by Daermo's strictness. Rose in particular does not often seek counsel with this woman. 'My mother means harm to no one, and despite her crass and unwelcoming attitude where my father is concerned, she still deserves the reverence of every person on this earth. She is gentle, forgiving, and always welcoming. She tries to look out for all of our best interests, but she clashes quite grossing with any of my father's politics. I don't personally have time for her wishy-washy and consoling ways, but I do not deny that she is still an important aspect in my life, and we all need her to some degree. Unfortunately, she has a lesser variant of the same illness that plagues Iris, and I don't know how much longer she'll be around for...' ❤Quince (Cici): Younger brother by two years. Unchosen. Short Description: The slight difference in age does nothing to hinder the threat Quince poses to Rose's superiority. He is just as determined and forthright as his older brother, with the exception that Quince has a much more noticeable desire to be accepted by people as a whole, and not just his father. He's kinder, more gentle, more forgiving, and tends to do better than Rose where matters concerning others are involved. While Rose is a little envious of Cici's capabilities, the two get along well enough. He'll eventually choose the Gaili path. 'Cici is my closest bond and my biggest rival. He is capable in nearly every area that I excel in, though he still maintains a positive and welcoming attitude in the face of danger. I... have come to realize that he is not invincible, though. Quince looks out for all of his siblings too, and he is not free of cracking beneath pressure. He smiles a lot and waves his problems away, but I fear that he suffers when he's alone. Father wants us all to shine brightly, but Cici would be content to live a normal, drab life. I doubt he'll be granted this wish, but... perhaps one day he'll make the most of it.' ❤Ranucillis (Silly): Younger sister by ten years. Unchosen. Short Description: An adorable pudge of a child with untamed, nappy chocolate curls and a wide and excited set of lavender irises. She is clearly the up-and-coming troublemaker of the family and even with the multitude of watchful eyes around her, she still always ends up in the most awkward of predicaments. Her siblings affectionately refer to her as 'Silly' due to her ability to turn even the most boring of play times into an adventure, a trait she'll cling to well-throughout childhood and into her teen years. Though for now she is far too young for Rose to have much of a connection with her, she'll grow to look up to all of her older brothers with an unwavering devotion, and will choose the Ysali clan as both Aster and Rose have. 'I can already sense a blossoming connection between Silly and I. She's a go-getter, a thing-doer, a real activist, and I think that's something we can all appreciate. She's still ridiculously young, of course, and I haven't much time to play with infants, but as my sister, SIlly is still an integral part of my life, and if I have my way, she'll be brought up exactly as she is. Father would probably like to stamp out this attitude now, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Silly is perfect for us. Perfect the way she is. Someone in this family should be happy, anyway.' ❤Soldaster (Aster): Older brother by three years. Ysali. Short Description: The family reject, failure, and a multitude of other derogatory words that do basically nothing to heighten this boy's confidence. He was once a slightly inept young lad who, yes, made a few blunders, but was still very desperate to please and delight his parents. He was never enthused concerning subjects of study or hard work, but he tried because his family expected it of him. Since Rose has very clearly taken over their favor, Aster adopted an attitude of "not giving a damn." While he does hold a little of a bitter grudge, it's nothing that would hinder him from looking out for his little brother's well-being. He challenges Rose at any opportunity that arises. 'I don't know how I've missed everything that Aster has done since choosing his clan. We've never been particularly close; never on the best of terms, but how could I not see what a mess he's gotten himself into? I don't know how, yet, but I will be part of the solution! Aster may dislike me on some low level, and I may not be particularly fond of him, but I will not sit by and let anyone wreck our family! I will defend Aster. I will keep him safe from teh trouble Father has put him in. I will do whatever it takes. He's my blood, my brother. I owe him this. I owe him this for missing everything up to this point.' ☒Voxen (the Dealer): Drug runner employed by Daemo. Ysali. Short Description: Voxen is a spirited man of unknown origin. He trumps Rose in age by thirteen years and has amassed a very reputable control over Ysali toxins and poisons. He is capable of healing, but does so rarely and generally only for himself. He's made several appearances on the Vayne estate and even has land on Serenia, near the Vayne establishment there. He trains and raises arvathi and abuses their hallucinogenic venom like nothing else. After a run-in with Rose, Quince, and Aster on Serenia, Rose has taken up a deep-seated hatred for the man who left him to die and left Aster to suffer through his inability to work Ysali magic. 'This man. After meeting him, I must admit that I'm not thrilled with how my father has raised our siblings, and I can see why Daemo is looking to replace him with someone of our own blood. I hate him for what he's done. He's put Aster through hell and back just for some sick level of enjoyment. How dare he lash out at someone better than him? Failure or not, Aster is noble and deserves respect. Voxen tortured us. He is a blight upon the world that I will remove, one way of another. To know that he's stepped foot in my home sickens me.'
