With roots in Telk, Followlight began as a crowd of refugees finally settling what they believe to be their promised land in Tolas. A tight-knit pack, Followlight was forged in the fires of disaster and survived through faith and togetherness. Now they value community above all, each wolf striving to honor his packmates and revere the Light that guides them. Here "pack" and "family" are synonymous, and everyone does their part to encourage the good of the whole.

A Search for Meaning -- Cue questions the meaning of life, and seemingly receives an answer Enlightenment -- The nature of Aislin's dreams shifts in the wake of Cue's odd experience, and she becomes convinced that something terrible is going to happen A Trial Run -- Cue and Aislin approach two packmates and convince them to join in their exodus Radiance -- Feeling like they have a purpose for once in their lives, Cue and Ais prepare to head out on their journey A Journey Begins -- Fubar, one of the early converts, seeks his lady-friend and asks her to come along on the journey Happy days and Dark Moments -- Not long after the young wolves start their journey through Telk, both Aislin and Sophia (Fubar's mate) bear litters of pups, greatly increasing the difficulty of their travels New Places, Friendly Faces -- Cue & Co. pick up two new members on their travels and shelter for a while in the Aves mountains at the north of Telk Respite in the Mountains -- Cue has the chance to evangelize a bit to Dubhe, the newest member -- The Brotherhood descends upon the pack, stealing two male puppies and killing a few pack members in the process. The survivors run, fleeing further north. -- A few weeks later, as they're still recoiling from that tragedy, the volcano erupts. They're far enough north at this point that they're clear of worst of it, and are some of the first Telk wolves to cross the threshold of Tolas. -- Arriving in Tolas, they spend some time wandering before finding the cenotes and settling there.

As pack histories go, Followlight's is rather short. It began in the old-world land of Agua Azul, where a group of youngsters felt that they were destined for something bigger.
One day, Cumulonimbus suffered what he could only describe as a visitation -- a terrible headache accompanied by an enormous ball of light that obscured his vision and filled him with both dread and elation. He wasn't sure what it meant, but his childhood sweetheart Aislin took great interest in it, believing that it was related to a series of troubling dreams she'd had. Taking this together as a sign that they had been forewarned of a terrible danger, the two would-be alphas gathered what few friends and family would listen to them, and headed out on a pilgrimage across Telk, waiting for a sign.
Along the way, they faced many trials, never staying in one place for long and forever searching for another message from that orb of light. Eventually, after sheltering in the mountains in northern Telk, disaster did strike -- and Followlight was able to escape into Tolas, leaving the ash and rubble behind them.
Though the incident was likely purely coincidental -- separated as it was by months of journeying, and bearing only the faintest resemblance to Aislin's vague nightmares -- the wolves of Followlight viewed it as the sign they needed to believe that their pilgrimage had been justified. Soon after, they found a place of land that called to them, nestled in the dunes and scrubland of Tolas, and there they settled.
Their time of wandering in the desert was over. Now it was time to take root and flourish.

Followlight lives in the deserts of Quadrant Three, a little ways south of The Sunlords.
They've settled around the cenotes, which are deep pits in the limestone foundation of the earth giving way to brilliantly colored, cool water. They make great use of the hollows in the earth, gathering in the driest caverns to socialize or relaxing on the narrow stony banks of the underground pools. The presence of water and shelter here means that they must travel only to hunt, a fact which has encouraged a rather insular lifestyle cut off from most visitors and neighboring wolves.
Above ground, the climate is dry and covered in scrubby brush and large stone formations. Here and there some succulents have taken root, as well as the occasional tree, but by and large the landscape is defined more by stone than by greenery.
Followlight wolves subsist on a diet of small game like hares and fowl, augmented by larger catches like deer and (when times are lean) more omnivorous fare like succulent plants and roots. Their hunting trails primarily lead them east, toward the Gan river, which doubles as a water source for those who travel far from the pools of home.

.:Religion:.
Wolves of Followlight believe that their fate is being watched over by a supernatural being that guides them through dreams and waking visions. This being is believed to be great and powerful, beyond the comprehension of a wolf's mind, and thus it appears in a disembodied form as light and sensation -- giving rise to its name "The Light." Cumulonimbus is currently the only wolf to receive waking visions, and Aislin is the authority on interpreting the pack's dreams.
The Light is sublime and beneficent, and the alphas trust in its guidance to keep them safe. They receive, interpret and pass on the Light's messages to the pack, and encourage members to form a personal relationship with the Light as well. Outside of these personal convictions, the pack has not established more concrete religions rituals. Note on The Light:
Cue's visions are not in fact supernatural in nature. Rather, he suffers from hallucinatory migraines -- through imagination, fear and the power of suggestion, he has come to interpret the "aura" as a sign of divine presence. The rest is the product of religious fervor and the power of belief.
.:Culture:.
Followlight is intensely family-oriented. Pack members are expected to have absolute loyalty to one another, even in the face of serious disagreements. The bonds between members and the consolidation of their beliefs is reinforced by daily "family meals", an evening meal provided by the pack's hunters and foragers and eaten together as a group.
At the family meal, news is exchanged and stories are told, often in the form of parables that support the beliefs of Followlight. Common themes include the connection between faith during adversity and an ultimate reward, loyalty as a facet of heroism, and the importance of family over all else.
As one big family, it's a given that children are raised as one big group by those who are best at it - pups do not necessarily keep a special attachment to their parents compared to the other wolves in their pack. They're strong believers in "it takes a village to raise a child," and they believe that pups do best in an environment surrounded by their peers. There's mild social pressure for females to time their litters so that pups will grow up with plenty of playmates.
.:Naming Conventions:.
The wolves of Followlight speak Telkish and have little interest in learning other languages. The founding members have diverse names, representing their old lives and families, but they generally choose to name their children more simply.
Pups are frequently named after personality traits that are viewed as positives, or after things in nature. For inspiration, take a peek at these Pilgrim names.

.:Relation to Outsiders:.
As the pack settles, they are becoming increasingly insular, being far more interested in paying attention to one another and to their god than in looking outside their little world. An immediate distrust around strangers is becoming more commonplace, particularly as rumors reach their ears of what habits their neighbors hold.
Healthy trespassers are warned off of the territory unless they can make a convincing argument as to why they should be able to stay. The sickly and lost may be briefly taken in, depending on whether or not the alphas judge them to be a potential threat. Wolves that show a particular interest in the lifestyle may be allowed to stay longer or become full-fledged members of the pack once they have earned the trust of the family.
.:Mating and Families:.
Pack members are expected to choose mates from within the pack. Followlight wolves are obsessive about keeping track of bloodlines, but they also hold no stigmas about more distant relations inter-breeding -- in their eyes, a second or third cousin is a far safer choice than a stranger whose motives are unknown. Some of the nosier pack members may find themselves playing matchmaker within the pack, gently nudging their packmates into what they view as positive matches.
Followlight wolves generally mate for life, and a one-night-stand or broken relationship would be cause for great scandal. Wolves are expected to make things work with their significant others, and other members of the pack might step in to help mediate whether their help is solicited or not -- they care above all about the safety, security and peace of the pack as a whole, and disputes between members disrupt that.
The exception to this is Pathfinding. There's a Vegas policy in regards to what happens while Pathfinding -- resident wolves don't ask, and returning wolves don't tell.
.razzathfinding:.
Wolves born within the pack will be granted a chance to see the outside world, a term of temporary, voluntary expulsion called the Pathfinding. After five seasons, Pathfinding adolescents who have not returned to rejoin the pack are considered dead to them. They are not spoken of further and generally will not be accepted back into the fold except for extremely extenuating circumstances.
Returning wolves are expected to have shaken all the rebellion and experimentation out of their system and perform as adults within the pack. Returning adults can bring with them outsiders willing to convert and any offspring they produced while Pathfinding; however, mating within the pack is expected to be for life.

Cumulonimbus and Aislin view themselves more as loving parents to a large extended family than alphas of a pack. Therefore, there is no rigid pack structure in Followlight: Every member is held in equal esteem, and all wolves are expected to contribute what they can.
These tasks may include hunting, pupsitting, storytelling, genealogy, and tending to the cleanliness of the pack.
There are no omegas here, and any hint of degradation or bullying a weaker packmate would be quickly snuffed out by a pair of very concerned alphas.

.:Joining & Availability:.
Considering the insular nature of the pack, by far the easiest way to become a member is through acquiring a pup from a breeding. We'll let you know when wolves are available this way!
Otherwise, when joining as an outsider, fill out the following form. We'll review it and come up with the best way to get your wolf in the pack:
Wolf's name: (link to image) Brief personality: What could this wolf bring to the pack? How did s/he come to discover Followlight? Why does s/he want to join?

Still making things look pretty in here, but this bad boy is OPEN! for posting 3nodding
Wolf's name:Trouble Brief personality: Trouble is kind-hearted and gentle (or at least he tries to be). While he tries to be mature, he can never resist rolling around with the pups or teaching them to spar/hunt. He's a bit like the "fun Uncle", if you will. He's getting a little older now, so I'm trying to tone his wild side down a bit. He's growing up. C: What could this wolf bring to the pack? Good hunting/sparring skills, and the ability to teach these skills to pups. How did s/he come to discover Followlight? Probably while escaping Telk. He could have picked up on the scent and decided to investigate, stumbling into the pack in a "woah, this place is chill" kinda way. Why does s/he want to join? In the end, he just desperately needs to belong somewhere. A place where everyone is considered your family seems like a great place for him to be.

Accepted! ~I can totally see Trouble teaming up with them on their way out of Telk. I'll see about setting up a joining RP now.
