Natural Ability: Shapeshift! Wendigo (at least those of Chase’s clan) can shift, at will, between a humanoid form and a more stag-like form. Never would they look fully human or animal, but always something of a twisted version of the two. Human form looks like his student form, while his stag form is an elongated, emaciated, stag, complete with a few exposed bones. Why do they shapeshift?
Answer- Why to scare humans! Or can they scare humans because they shapeshift? Hmm. Either way, in historical accounts, Chase’s ancestors made sport of running around the winter forests as stags, letting humans catch glimpses of them, and then just when the poor humans think they have caught themselves a nice meal, they turn human and wail and cry and scare the poor, hungry folk. (No wonder they are associated with cannibalism. Humans thinking they’d gone mad and were hunting their own kind.) Of course, this could just be old family tales. Who knowsssss?
Personality:
Chase comes from a small town in the dark, deep woods. It’s quiet there, relaxing, slow almost – The Town of Halloween and Amity are, in his mind, quite the opposite of quiet, relaxing, and slow. It’s loud and it’s bright, and in all honesty it makes him just a wee bit skittish – it’s unnerving to have so many sounds drowning out other sounds, unnerving to have more buildings and streetlights – perhaps overwhelming. He hopes to get used to it soon.
Not that he’d tell anyone it unnerves him. He’s a predatory animal, not prey. He’s not supposed to be skittish. And usually, he’s not. He’s outwardly calm, quiet, watching, but not cowering, not shy. He’ll step right up to a group of people and stick his head in their business. He will give unsolicited and unapologetic comments on what he sees, though they are not usually mean (or at least intended that way).
Because he’s not mean. Being mean is pointless, in his eyes. He’s blunt though, calling things as he sees them. No reason to lie or beat around the bush. Honesty is best with friends.
Most folks back home would describe Chase as honest, blunt, not one to give much thought to things before doing them, but also friendly, and a little bit bull-headed. Really, he’s like an elk that wandered into town and just wants to wander around and do what it wants to do and as long as you don’t provoke it everything will be fine. Not to say he has a temper or anything, but he will defend himself if he thinks he needs too.
He is also hungry. It’s a trait of his kind (or just teenagers?), a need to eat. A want to fill some kind of every gnawing void in his belly. He will unashamedly help himself to food, or unattended minipets. (He’s not likely to actually starve to death, no no. But he sure thinks he is. : / )
Oddly, Chase doesn’t find himself too fond of fish. Looks like all those floresce are safe. Don't misunderstand, he'll still eat it. It's just not his favorite. He'll trade you though. His fish for your pom. : D
Now, just because he’ll eat anything that could call itself food doesn’t mean he’s not a monster of taste. Given the proper resources, Chase can and will make you a delightful dinner. Soup, salad (if you must), meat, dessert- whatever you want. He might be a little heavy-handed on the seasoning, but he’s learning. He adores cooking. Food is a wonderful thing and should be shared with everyone. What better way to make friends? To make others happy? His family bonded and chatted during meals, clearly that's what everyone does. The best way to get to know someone is to eat with them - and he does want friends. He does want to get to know you, he likes friends. But sitting around and just talking makes him uncomfortable. He needs to be doing something when he hangs out with people. Hunting, working, eating...there needs to be a goal outside of friendtime, or he'll get nervous and excuse himself. Pure conversation is a lot of pressure. Which is why Dinner is so great. Converstation/bonding time...while doing something else that he loves. Eating.
He will eat your minipets…so put a collar on them or something ok.
He also enjoys hunting. Stalking, searching, sneaking up on prey… it’s fun ok.
Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? He needs some kind of schooling. He has a few dreams he wants to go for in life, but all of them require a working knowledge of Halloween, at the very least. And of city life. Plus education is important, everyone says so. Even if he doesn't really care for homework. Really. How useful can it be?
Oh, and his father insisted on his going to Amity. Amityville Alumni, that man is. So clearly his son should be, too. Even if the school has had some issues lately. No matter. It’s still a grade A school , in the nostalgia tainted eyes of Chase’s father. (And it’s possible his father has this dream of his son getting a passport and the two of them taking a father/son trip to the human land called Canada and scaring silly humans sleeping in silly temporary shelters in the forest. The old man has dreams, too, ok.)
Chase does want to make his father happy, and he sees the logic behind going to school, and getting out of the woods at least for a while. But he's not sure how this will turn out. He's never been so far from home before.
