Special Talent: Shadow Ghost is, in many ways, a ghost pony. The majority of his talents as a unicorn are geared towards ghost powers (think of Danny Phantom's if you know the show). He can go intangible, levitate, and similar things, but he does not enjoy it and tries to remain as normal as he can when possible. Ghost has a problem staying tangible when he's not concentrating, so he refuses to sleep and tries not to get emotionally worked up. It's said this is because he's the ghost of a pony who actually died and can not move on, but if asked, it's not likely he'll speak much of the topic. If he ever had one, it doesn't seem like he remembers much of his past life.
Though he doesn't really enjoy using his magic, if he does use it, it's mostly toward the cause of helping other ponies sleep. Sometimes he uses hyponises (similar to the pokemon move, as Shadow Ghost is based on a pokemon character). Sometimes just putting a pony to sleep isn't enough, however, due to nightmares.
Just like Luna's roles in the episodes of 'Sleepless in Ponyville' and 'For Whom the Sweetie Bell Toils', Shadow Ghost can astro-project himself into others' dreams and nightmares to help see them through it or, in extreme cases, make them forget said nightmares altogether. This comes at a price, though, because he himself has to live with the memory of said nightmares and this is another reason he does not sleep.
Unlike Luna, however, I think Shadow can only enter one pony's dream at a time and he has to be physically close to them before he goes into their dream to do so. He also has to concentrate on them specifically, and if a pony wants him out of their head/dream enough, he can't stay. He is subjected to everything that pony is subjected to in their dream, as well as more, because that pony is the master of their own dream and if they choose to turn against Shadow, he is powerless in the realm of their dream because it's 'their world'.
