It was already getting to be pretty late in the evening by the time Forest returned to the castle. She hadn't realized that they had been invited to stay the night there before setting off on their journey the next day. Perhaps she had been too flustered earlier by all the stallions around, but when she made herself known at the castle gates, a guard quickly filled her in.

Curious as to who, if anyone, was still in the dining hall, Forest Frolic quickly set down her saddle bags of supplies, quiver of arrows, and bow in her guest quarters for the night before hurriedly making her way toward the place she'd been directed to.

shadow had been sitting at the table in the dining hal for several hours now, and still he had a full plate, that looked untouched. letting out a sigh, his mind wondered on the following day. [what kind of darkness are we going to face] was just one of the many thoughts. placing a hoof on an apple that was on his plate, he began to move it back and forth, looking like he had no idea what he had got himself into. his amber wasn't glowing at this moment, as if it was resting, but he could still feel the magic within pulse with his heart, the rhythm was soothing, and at some moments he could have sworn he had heard a voice emanate from the amber, as if it was asking "why the long face". noticing a flame flicker on a torch that was on the wall, he reached out to it with his mind and it began to float over to shadow. for a long time shadow just held the fire, floating in that one spot, starring into it. if somepony would look at him, he would look like he was 1000 miles away, as if in a trance. thru his eyes he was staring into the fire, seeing the many colors that the flame truly hid from normal sight, this was one of the reasons he loved the forge, for he could look into the fire all day with out a care in the world. for there was hughs of blue, green, purple and every other color there was, that no pony had ever seen, of course these colors were ultra violet so they were normally invisible.

Inkbrand knew he was drawing in stares from all corners, disapproving, incredulous, and simply curiosity, all at once. Even a stallion of his confidence might get self-aware as mares hid their faces behind elaborate fans, stallions shook their heads, and guards glared at him from behind gleaming armored masks. But even if Inkbrand hadn't possessed such a confidence in himself and his person, even if he'd been born with more shyness and self-consciousness, it wouldn't have mattered.

There was no way in Taurtarus anypony was going to stop him.

"Holy s**t, why the buck have I never been invited to the palace before," he crowed as he downed his seventh strawberry and clover croissant, obvious to the mutters and grunts that arose from his course language. "No wonder all you hoity toity bastards sniff around the princesses, you get all the bucking good stuff up here!" The eight croissant was quick to follow its predecessor, but Inkbrand had to take a break to quickly chug down an ice cold glass of the palace's finest beer, which had been brought out specifically for him when he'd made his status known. To be honest, he'd been surprised that the kitchens had had anything other than some fancy s**t wine in their cellars, but hay no, he wasn't complaining.

If he'd had any doubts about going on this little trip before…

"Damn, my tongue is having sex right now," Inkbrand sighed blissfully to no pony in particular, savoring the sweet cinnamon roll dipped generously in honey and caramel sauce. To any pony that didn't know him, they might think him a vagabond who hadn't eaten in days - that's surely what those stuck-up b*****d unicorns were thinking right now, with their noses turned upwards and tails flicking in disgust. Well buck them. He liked food, he was going to be risking his life to save some random a** kingdom - he was damn well going to eat until he was satisfied!

Inkbrand turned to tell Shadow Fire exactly that, but stopped short when he saw that the Pegasus was doing that thing again that he sometimes did, picking up a ball of fire and just staring at it. The grey Earth Pony rolled his eyes, but given Shadow Fire's far-away gaze, Inkbrand probably could have given him a lap dance and it wouldn't have been noticed. The tattoo-clad stallion settled for punching the Pegasus' shoulder with one hoof instead, careful to avoid the flame. "Bucking stop looking like you've got the damn world on your shoulders," he instructed, turning back to the table with a gleam in his eyes, "and bucking enjoy yourself. I'm not going to bucking cry over your grave if you get yourself killed while we're out saving whales."

Comfort given, the stallion returned to perusing the various plates and trays. Even the various roaring hot mares flitting in and out of the dining hall went unnoticed as Inkbrand continued to gorge himself, until he finally pat his stomach with a contented smile, letting out a loud belch to announce his pleasure. "Hey, what's for dessert," the stallion called out to a passing chef as he wiped at his mouth with one foreleg - though, the dirty look he garnered went unnoticed as a familiar grey Earth Pony caught Inkbrand's eyes, causing him to sit up in his seat slightly.

"Hey babe, you made it back just in time," he called out loudly with his familiar mischievousness, though his voice was missing its usual flirtatious lilt. A full belly could do wonders, and Inkbrand simply felt less inclined to flirt when he was full to the brim of good food and better alcohol. "I was about ready to go to town on these bad boys," the stallion clarified with a jerk of his head to some cream and pineapple topped tarts on a nearby tray, "but, I guess I could share 'em. If you ask me all nice like," he added, with a snicker in his voice as he turned back to the banquet table, tone of voice again teasing and playful rather than heated and lustful.

Whether or not Forest was inclined to speak to him though, really didn't matter to the stallion. As there was amazing and delicious food to be had, it didn't make a bit of difference if the mare took up his offer, sat with him and Shadow Fire, or completely swept by him. Only one mare was worth chasing after with such a bountiful feast in front of him, and seeing as she wasn't here, Inkbrand was going to be eating his fill tonight if he bucking put the palace kitchen out of business.

when ink had hoofed him in the shoulder, shadow had turned, nearly jumping, and the flame nearly going out. "oh, uh, what ever..." he said in a dull voice, he really wasn't in the mood to talk, and had returned his attention to the flame. as he looked at it, a thought crossed his mind, the amber around his neck, and as he thought this he blinked. suddenly his element flashed as the flame that was floating in front of him suddenly turned to a crystal, which startled shadow, causing him to let his pyrokenesis go over the now crystal fire and dropped to the table. shadow looked at it with wonder as he reached for it with a hoof, picking it up. [did I just...] he thought to himself.

((Sorry, I think I was a little off in the timing of Forest's appearance between your guys' posts, but I couldn't resist. ^_^; If you want me to change any of it, though, just let me know and I can!))

With Inkbrand's exuberant voice being the first thing she heard, Forest couldn't help but laugh aloud at the honest stallion's bluntness. Well, at least he was enjoying himself - and doing something other than staring at females. He was quite a character, if a bit rude, but it wasn't as if the mare minded. Having grown up competing with two older brothers, she was used to such rambunctious behaviors. And while she wasn't alright with targeting others as a source of amusement, Forest prided herself on her relatively thick skin when it came to 'feminine sensitivities'.

"You guys started the party without me?" she giggled, making her way to the table with Shadow Fire and Inkbrand. The former seemed engaged in staring into a floating flame, however. A brief look of unease flitting across her features, Forest, hastily took a seat on the other side of Ink, as far away from the flame as she could manage without wanting to offend Shadow.

"Having so much fun already and we haven't even begun our journey. I'm glad to see you all in such high spirits," she told them. "Good gracious, though, I didn't think anyone but my friend Gypsy could eat like that! Where do you put it all?" Forest asked Ink, watching delicacy after delicacy disappear into his mouth. "I wish I had the stomach to hold all that. We're probably going to be needing all the strength and energy we can get."

She smiled, amused when the gray stallion tried to get Shadow to lighten up. She'd often both admired and envied relationships between stallions. Her two brothers had shared a similar bond of friendship and respect for one another, but all they'd ever seen her as was a weak, helpless, defenseless little sister they had to protect and care for. A soft sigh of yearning escaped her as she found herself wondering what it would be like to be a stallion. Not that she wasn't perfectly happy as a mare, but to be looked at so differently just because of her gender and the stereotypes associated with it...sometimes it was just depressing.

But now was not the time to dwell on such things. She was being silly. Inkbrand was right; they should have been living it up while they could. After all, no one could tell what would happen in the days to come. Another comment from Ink to Shadow caused her to laugh. "Saving whales...?" she repeated, a little lost as to where that had come from. "Well, aren't you the hero? I think it's so cute how you're so determined to protect him, Ink," Forest giggled, half teasing. She burst into another fit of laughter as the gray earth pony questioned a passing chef. As if he hadn't eaten a five-course dessert already.

Forest Frolic smirked as she noticed Ink sit up a little straighter in his seat upon recognizing her. "I'd really prefer to hear you call me by my name, 'babe'," she answered with a bat of her eyes, doing her best not to start laughing again. "I'd treasure it forever just to hear you say 'Forest' or 'Frolic'." She rested her cheek on a hoof as she examined the food set out (or what remained of it) before selecting a simple apple and happily taking a bite.

"'Nice like', huh?" she repeated, grinning at him. "Hmm...okay, how about, 'Won't you please share a tart with me, Inkbrand? It's sure to taste better if I eat it with you.'" Oh yes, she liked this side of the tattooed stallion much more than her first impression of him. She hadn't realized how funny and playful he could be.

The mare started in surprise, though, when a flash in her peripheral vision put her on guard and she jolted toward the source. Her mouth hung open slightly, unsure of what had just happened. "Did you...crystalize that flame, Shadow?" she asked gingerly. He didn't look too sure of what he'd just done himself.

Cobalt Lightning
"Magistrate Immune, Equestrian Royal Court, at your service."

Current Location: Canterlot Palace Library
Current Company: The Sister of the Sun, the six chosen, and the Ibexian Sisters
Oh, Our Cookies: bleh, sorry for the wait on my guy. I can't think of nothing for Shadow Fire, sorry Dx

As Cobalt walked with the rest of the group, he remained relatively quiet as he listened. Inkbrand was an interesting character: Even if he couldn't see, the orange mage certainly had a suspicion that the others guardsmen were likely staring at the ink-clad stallion. A mental guess of the unicorn would be that earthen was a tattoo artist, given the markings and crude-and-lewd demeanor.

By the time the group sat down in the dining halls, fit for a queen or, more accurately, two princesses, Cobalt's own meal was one of the last that was prepared. Upon first bite of the large piece of red meat was like a heavenly bite, and his eyes certainly shown that he obviously wasn't used to food of this quality. By now, it appeared the mare that departed earlier had returned, though it seems she took her sweet time, but now was relatively flirting with Inkbrand. "Looks like someone's interested in you. If you wanna share a room, that should be fine, but try to keep the bed clean, hm?" the unicorn teased as he butted in, plopping another piece of the meat into his mouth as if it was routine.

"I... I'm not sure..." he trailed off as he looked at the crystal more closely. "this has never happened before... could it have been the elements doing?" he said to himself as if trying to make sense of it. he could feel the warmth of the fire, even though it was now a gem. it was certainly amazing. then a thought popped into his mind. "what if these elements are more then connected to us, what if they are actually the missing part of us..." he had trailed off not entirely believing his theory himself. he then broke it into quarters, then took a bite into the crystal for no reason, and his face lit up. "ITS SWEAT!" he bursted out, surprised. " mother of celestia, it tastes like candy?!?" he repeated more clearly giving a peace to inkbrand, forest, and colbalt. "you got to try this..." he simply said still having a look of amazement.

Forest looked quizzically from Shadow to an orange unicorn with a curved horn that she hadn't seen before. "Oh, hello," she greeted, smiling. "I'm sorry, I don't think we've met. I'm Forest Frolic. Who might you be?" He seemed somewhat familiar...from the Hearts and Hooves Day festival?...but she was sure they had never been formally introduced.

Her smile became sheepish and a light pinkish tinge came into her cheeks as she heard said unicorn's words, however. "Interested? Oh, I don't think so," she said shyly, averting her grass green gaze to look to the table top instead. "We're just all getting to know each other, right? No need to skip to hasty conclusions. Oh, my...may I ask what that is you're eating?" Was that...meat? She'd heard of a few flesh-eating unicorns before, but...was this orange stallion one of them?

Frolic's attention was brought back to Shadow abruptly as he yelled something. "Candy...?" she repeated. "Like...rock...candy?" She touched the piece he gave her with a tentative hoof, not quite sure she wanted to taste it.

Kori looks around the dinning hall in awe, "Wow.... this place is huge..." He chuckles. He looks down at his food, and his eyes unfocus slightly, He shivers as he tries to eat but can only move the food a little.

Asch looks at the the newly chosen Elements and then down at his own plate,

As the others talk Kori heard Shadows declaration, "Sweet? Really?" He raises an eyebrow

Shadow Fire was annoying enough, but when both Asch and Kori came in looking like some pony had run over a pet puppy, Inkbrand wanted to break something. Buck, they were all going to be running off on a grand adventure soon enough anyways, there would sure to be plenty of opportunities to brood and think Very Important Thoughts. Why the buck did they have to drag the heavy atmosphere in here with them now?

Well, at least some ponies knew how to have some fun. Inkbrand turned back around towards Forest and the orange unicorn - Cobalt Lightning, that was his name - who were just about the only other two in the group that didn't seem like they'd break into moody silences anytime soon. Even if Cobalt's choice of food was disturbing, he appreciated his sense of humor - 'Sense of foreshadowing? Aw yeah baby.' - and gave the unicorn a quick wink and a nudge under the table with a hoof.

Though, apparently the unicorn wasn't the only one with a bit of weird food choice. Inkbrand turned slightly to see Shadow Fire handing out bits of what looked like some sort of crystal, a scowl crossing his face as he heard where it'd come from. "No thanks man, I've got something…sweeter," he said slyly as he turned towards Forest Frolic, even as he belated remembered that Shadow Fire had a thing for the orange maned pony.

s**t, he'd forgotten.

Oh, well. Inkbrand was just fooling around a little, since the Pegasus in question seemed intent on playing with himself instead of chatting up the girl he was interested in. Maybe seeing him flirt with his girl would get SF riled up some, but whatever, he was just having some fun. Especially considering how Forest was not too busy brooding over things, unlike some ponies, Inkbrand thought sourly as he looked towards the mare in question.

Predictably, the orange maned pony was blushing and drew forth an eye roll from Inkbrand, though he couldn't be sure whether she was blushing because of himself or from Cobalt's words. Either way, it was a bucking annoying to see a mare go from bold and outgoing one minute, to shy and flustered the next. Made her feel like a player. And just when he'd gotten his hopes up from her little flirts just a moment before, she turned out to be cold-hooved. Damn, if all it took was a suggestion for the two of the them to hop into the sack to get her to shrink away like that, he was going to have a bucking field day with her on this little trip.

Still, at least they had a mare going on this trip. If Inkbrand had been surrounded with nothing but other stallions for the entire journey, well…buck, that didn't even bare thinking about. All that mattered was that he was going to have some eye candy.

Eye candy, and the most bucking, orgasmic-inducing tarts he'd ever tasted in his life.

"I dunno Double F, these babies are mighty fine," Inkbrand mused in an almost contemplative manner, balancing a tart on one hoof. "Buuut, since you did give it up all sweet and all..." The tart was thrown into the air, only for Inkbrand to catch the very end of it between his teeth, unable to help showing off just a little. He turned back to Forest Frolic and leaned in closer, almost nudging the other end of the tart against her lips as his golden gaze drilled into her own. "Your prize," he said laughingly, words disjointed a little by the burden he still carried in his mouth, even as his eyes remained fixed and sharp on Forest's own. "And a little bit of extra sweetness, if you think you can handle it."

The implication that she couldn't was clear, and Inkbrand made sure to bite down fairly hard on the one end of the tart, so Forest couldn't simply pull it from his mouth - though, it almost meant surging forward would be difficult, and honestly, Inkbrand didn't really mind at the moment.

What could he say? Food made him much more tame.

Perhaps she might have taken it more in stride if she knew Cobalt a little better, but Forest's reaction to the unicorn's teasing had been more a result of his audacity at that kind of banter when they were such strangers. Unlike Inkbrand, she'd had no prior indication that the magistrate regularly made such vulgar implications. It made it hard to tell just how serious or silly he was being. If Ink had been the one to say such a thing, Forest likely wouldn't have acted so shyly, since she was getting the impression that he was a stallion who might have suggested sharing a room to every other (if not just every) pony he met.

Quickly getting over herself, though, the light blush in Forest's cheeks faded and she giggled at the loaded words with which Inkbrand declined Shadow's offer. 'Double F' may not have been her name, exactly, but it was almost better, in a way. A casual nickname between quickly-budding friends, and much better than 'babe', in any case.

"How gracious of you," she answered with a mocking grin, successfully impressed by the blue-maned pony's stunt. Her stomach did a little unexpected flip when he leaned in to offer her the other side of the dessert, grass green gaze locked with gold, but she ignored it and laughed instead at his muffled invitation.

No, no she refused to be won over that easily. He was just one of the five stallions she was going to be travelling with over the next few days, anyway. She couldn't be crushing on him so soon just because he had a cute smile and seemed the easiest to get along with so far. She hadn't even properly met most of the others! And anyway, everyone else was just as likely to find him easy to get along with, too. She wasn't anypony special.

"I accept your challenge," she answered with a playfully determined expression, biting down on the other end of the offered treat before trying to tug a larger portion of it from the opposition.
