The Threshold of the Dreaming

Dream has brought the heroes to the liminal, the separating line between his world and The Dreaming itself. It's almost like the edge of something, a world or a cliff; a precipice into a stark white Oblivion. However, in front of our heroes is a long winding stone path towards a strange replica of the Hall of Justice only this Hall is not a hall but a tower.

To go home and withdraw, one needs only to jump off the cliff. To continue upon the path is to accept the challenges and their consequences.

Alias: Jonathan Price
Status: Healthy
Thoughts: Well this is interesting
Wearing: Peridot Pendant, Shadestone Ring
Equipment: GA-2 Goggles
Quiver: 75/75
15 Broadhead Arrows
15 Smoke Arrows
15 Taser Arrows
10 Flash Bang Arrows
10 Line Arrows
5 Tranquilizer Arrows
2 Caltrop Arrows
2 Oil Slick Arrows
1 Explosive Arrow
1 Canary Cry Arrow (Dafug, how did this get here?)

The first to collapse into a deep sleep, Jonathan would also be the first to wake up. As his blue eyes surveyed his surroundings, the first thing he can think of saying is ripped straight from the Wizard of Oz, "Well then, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore," and he was right. First of all, the strange tower like structure was not the Halls of Justice, more like the Tower of Justice. If it wasn't for the fact that Daniel proved himself to be real, Jonathan would honestly think he was in well, a dream.

He got up from the prone position he was in and stretched his whole body out. He felt much healthier than he did in the real world, like the drug he was administered earlier from Marcel was no longer in his system. He looked behind him, noticing the cliff and stood on the edge, looking down. Whistling to himself, Jonathan shook his head and stepped away from the cliff. It was a long way down, he was not going to make the jump. Besides, the only way out is forward.

He counted the amount of arrows in his quiver, quickly realizing that his quiver was full. Which didn't make sense as he had been in a fight earlier and had used at least 9 arrows. 6 Broadhead, 1 Taser, 1 Smoke, and an Explosive Arrow. Making sure he wasn't hallucinating, he took his quiver off his back and counted each and every arrow, recognizing one he had been dreaming off for a while, yet never understood how to make it work. He took it out, recognizing the small ball near the tip of the arrow. It was a design he had dreamed of a couple days ago, yet never figured out how to make it work. After all, he couldn't exactly ask Dinah Lance how her Canary Cry Bombs worked if she isn't even here.

"Hmmm, maybe if I take the arrow apart and look inside the ball, I can create the arrow in real life, but that can be saved until later," Jonathan said to himself, putting away the arrow and slinging his quiver back to where it was before he turned to the others, likely asleep still, "There is still the matter of waking up the others."

So the Green Arrow went to each and every Legacy holder in the tower, shaking them until they wake up. Whatever challenge awaited them, he cannot do it alone.

When his eyes opened up again, it was not because they had done so on their own and of his own accord, but because of the consistent shaking of Green Arrow. His blue eyes slowly opened to see a different landscape around them, and as he took in the sights, he stretched out his arms widely. Making it back to his feet, the Amazonian Prince moved forwards before stopping just at the beginning of the stone path which lead to a large tower. It was clear that despite having woken up, he was in fact still dreaming, but now, he was worried about what trials they would actually face within the Land of Dreams. "Do our powers work the same here in this Dream Land?" questioned Wonder Boy aloud for any to answer. While directed more so to Daniel, the other legacies were free to try and test out their powers.

Company: Legacies and Mr.Sandman
Thoughts: Am I only Dreaming?!
Location: Threshold

[Nightingale][Sonokinesis][Legacy Initiative]

Taliana held a palm to her forehead as she lifted herself off the ground. Her eyes flitted open, greeted by a smoky landscape that made her shut them tightly again. 'This is not a dream...' Taliana stumbled to her feet as she heard the voices of other heroes in the area. Jonathan and Damian's to be exact. "Knowing how elusive Daniel's been about everything else, I would be surprised if our powers work at all." The siren gave a slight shrug to Damian as she examined their surroundings further. Her mind was still enraptured in the words that had passed between her and the Sandman earlier. If he was trying to throw her off her game it was working. After all the excitement about coming here, she was just ready to leave. He had shaken her confidence in not only herself, but the confidence she had in her friends. She felt like putting up her walls again, and keeping everyone at arms distance. Then again, the Black Canary was no wallflower, and neither was the Nightingale. She refused to be intimidated so easily. Besides, this team needed a few rough edges to shake things up. Who better to bring that than her?! The siren patted her face as she got her head back into the game. She walked over to the two heroes who had appeared with her and began pondering what to do next. What to do as a team, not individuals. "Damian, does your extensive knowledge about mysticism cover anything about this Sandman?!" Taliana inquired.

Darius stood up his head throbbing obviously the Sandman hadn't taken kindly to his last words and made sure he awoke at the side of a cliff basically the edge. Darius moved away from it towards Taliana, Wonderlad, and the Green Arrow, technically his only friend being Taliana. He put a hand on his shoulder and smirked. "Gave that jerk a piece of my mind about being a smart a** before I knocked out. Don't worry I gotcha back. Ha. But uh, anyone want to tell me how the hell we got here, and uh you know....where here is?" Darius said with a concerned smirk. He had run most corners of the Earth with his father as part of training but he had no clue where the hell this was.

When Tony woke, he remained still for a moment and listened. He opened his eyes and sat up, looking around. He could see Green Arrow, Nightingale, Wonder Boy, and Flash a little ways away. Green Arrow seemed to be waking people up and the others seemed to just be talking. He pushed himself to his feet and took a survey of the land. He wasn't sure where they were, but he could see a variant of the Hall of Justice in the distance ahead of him, and when he turned, he noticed they were near the edge of a cliff. He carefully walked to the edge to see just how far down it went. With his cape giving him the ability to glide, he was sure he'd survive the journey down, but he since he couldn't seem to see a bottom, he didn't exactly want to try it. Backing away from the cliff, he stepped back to the group of still-sleeping Legacies and started to assist Jonathan in waking them.

Just like that, she felt as if she awoke. Things were....different. The group remained, and the Batman's manner of waking her up had resulted in basically pushing her off-balance and gravity merely led her to the ground. Rolling to her stomach, it was a hands and knees approach before regaining her center of balance and "consciousness". She'd had dreams like this before though, so she remained skeptical of whether this was "reality" or not. Not having noticed the chasm yet, her immediate thoughts were to wondering if she pinched herself, would she wake up....again? As entertaining as that would be, it was kind of childish to do. Besides, if this was a dream world controlled by someone else....what were the odds that "cheating" would be allowed? Cheating like flying or going through walls or some such.

By that right.....then I have some kind of advantage. Not hampered by anything like a sudden lack of power. I've got my guns, the bow, and the staff, as well as my physical training to back me up. I think what this is about though, considering that we all so far seem to be together....is that this isn't a true combat test. We're likely seen as capable combatants in our own rights, but as a team....that's the exploit. Even in talking or organization, we have virtually no skill. I'd wager that at least somewhere in this world, there'll be a test on that. An experience that will attempt to forge bonds together. Maybe this sandman guy...name escapes me for the time being...but maybe he's not inherently evil, but an alternate, third party sort of entity. After all, if he knows so much about us, taking us down with our weaknesses while we're asleep would be child's play. On the other hand, he could just be a psychotic maniac with a sole intent to torture us for what will probably feel like eternity. So says the gaming community and their definition of types of "bosses", anyway. For the sake of looking on the bright side of it, Ima roll with the former. For now though, let's get a bearing, status reports.

The thoughts seemed confirmed that her fellow teammates presumed themselves powerless. Such an ego stroker, that one. From behind her mask, her lips parted in an elated grin, though let that disappear before lifting the mask and getting a more proper look around.

"Doesn't matter if powers work or not,"

Vermilion began, caught halfway between vocalizing it and simply mumbling it. She'd been about to further elaborate, but the blonde was already socializing with the wonderboy. That was fine, at least people were trying to put their heads together. The environment, now that she got a proper look at it , kind of reminded her of a few video game layouts, though the general air was quick to remind her that this was real life and not a game....though she again debated whether or not it was actually real and not illusions.

Not much to do except ponder to self. I'd wager this new batman's doing the same, albeit looking like he's multitasking. I ain't really for all that, and frankly, I'd just as soon sit down and ponder it out. Gotta get it in my head that these folks believe it's real. For all I know, it is. I doubt it, but having different mentalities only works if the group can reach a collective agreement. So if they're all believing, I can at least go along with it. The nightmares I had earlier....they were pretty realistic. I even woke up with some soreness that matched where I was hit in the dream. Some irregularities...and it might be purely concidental...but I can't rule it out.

That "settled", the Huntress continued her self-check by inspecting her loadout and the seeming functionality of the weapons. The staff first, and easiest to do. Removing it from its back positioned ring holder, she assembled it, and checked its solidarity. That seemed to function, so she disassembled it and returned the pieces to the holder. Next was the glock. Not even sure why she'd brought it along, least liked of her arsenal, but easy enough should the need arise to give someone a firearm. Sure as hell no one touched pa's gun unless that was life or death essential. Even if the shells she'd brought were far less lethal than actual shot shells more conveniently available. To the matter of the glock, as expected of the handgun manufacturer, it came apart fluidly and reassembled in just the same manner. Placing that back into the hip holster, Vermilion took the time to sit back down. The next two were harder, and basically required a platform to work on them with both hands. First, the Remington. That was very familiar, and easy to disassemble and reassemble, but was just larger scale than the previous weapons. She saved the crossbow for last. By far the weapon least familiar with, and ashamedly so for her legacy, she took the opportunity to try and understand its pieces...the assembly workings, firing mechanisms. Of the four weapons, this definitely had the most reliable damage dealing power. Guns jammed, and a staff was close range. Vermilion had already come to terms that in this "party", she was a DPS unit, meant to deal damage and not hold the aggro. Definitely not in the healing aspect either. To that end, she would end up favoring the crossbow as a primary weapon, followed by the staff, shotgun, bayonet, and glock as last....as it ever was. The glock and bayonet knife were weapons she could feel comfortable tossing to a teammate if they needed a tool or some ranged firepower. Granted, thirty-four shots wasn't a lot....but it probably would do them as much good as it would do Vermilion.

Equipment checked out, the landscape surveyed, now all that remained was to wait for the team to assemble, and then presumably all start off on that narrow path towards a tower of some kind. Why was it always a tower, or a building that involved them...like castles. Again, a video game like feeling was referenced, and similarly once more was it put down. Still, the heavy air was certainly something else. The sandman outdid himself this time, it seemed.
