ʈhe Southern Gate is the least travelled gate of the four. This gate connects the forest areas of Rukongai to the great bridge of Seireitei. This gate is much taller than the rest and always remains heavily guarded for it's the gate most naysayers try to illegally enter through. The walk from the forest bridge point to the entrance is a lofty mile walk with no hiding spots. So, any passer will easily be detected by the Gatekeeper who sits atop the Gate and gazes down.
After passing over the bridge and through the gate, the pathway leads to a tunnel that runs into the sewer line of Seireitei.

Zanavier had heard the call from the North Gatekeeper, unfortunately he didn't have a method of instant message sending yet. He simply shot up a green signal flare towards the north gate to let her know that he got the message.

Everyone heard Shu's orders "You heard her people double time get this gate locked down!!"
"Sir yes sir!!" the men ordered, and in quick timing the gate was locked down tight
"Everyone is to keep their guard up, everyone at the ready for combat. This intruder uses bizarre methods of attacks, no Soul Slayer was used so he is well diverse in Kido, if that s**t head shows his ugly mug, lets kick his a**!!!"

"Where ever you are you freak...I'm waiting" Zanavier said his spirit pressure rising in anticipation
Kosuke watched from the sidelines, spiritual presence carefully concealed, as Zanavier ordered his men around. He really did not feel comfortable approaching the tall man, but he had wanted to cross Seireitei to reach his newly assigned gate instead of taking a detour in a less hospitable area of Rukongai. He had weighed the pros and cons of both options and had resigned himself when he came to the conclusion that going by the North gate would be the most time efficient decision, something that is crucial considering how the Western gate was now sitting without any gatekeeper. His application had to be processed while he was out on one of his escapades in Rukongai, Southern Rukongai of all places.
He cringed when he felt the man raise his reiatsu in anticipation to any intruder. If he was going to do something, it would be best if it was now, before any of the gatekeeper's men became anymore excited. With an uneasy sigh and a shuffle of his feet, Kosuke stepped out of his hiding spot and onto view of all standing guard on the bridge connecting Rukongai to the gate.
"Rosner-san, can you let me pass?" he shouted at the man while keeping his hands within sight so show that he meant no harm despite the zanpakuto strapped to his waist. He had not dared to creep too close to the man. Wild animals tend to strike when surprised and Kosuke did not want to test that on a gatekeeper of all things.

Zanavier had turned noticing the presents of someone, with his Soul Slayer still in Shikai state he turned ready for a fight, but once this new comer had shown he meant no fight, he let up a little, but with the gate locked down he knew if this man was the assailant, he wouldn't pass easy.
"State your name and rank, even though the assailant on the Soul King had escaped, it woudn't take much to get out through looking like someone else...cant be to careful."
He had gotten the message like last time from the northern gate keeper, but he couldn't leave this person unattended, he got one of his men to make a hell butterfly note to her that he will be there for the party after the captains meeting is over, but he has someone here seeking passage, and has kept his gates closed just in case.

Seeing that he was not about to be reduced to shish-kebab anytime soon, Kosuke lowered his arms to answer the gatekeeper's demands. This was perhaps the first time the man noticed Kosuke. The kid had done a pretty good job at remaining unnoticed by the majority of the higher ups. "I'm Kosuke Nishimura, the newly appointed gatekeeper of the West Gate," he shouted before taking a few steps onto the bridge. The pit underneath him was daunting though not as much as having to deal with a group of grownups.
"We are no longer in lock down, but I thought I should take a look at the gate and head to my new workstation," he tried to explain even if the man had not asked for his intent just to make sure Zanavier did not change his mind. He was proud that he did not stutter despite his nervousness. "The intruder may have used the opportunity of an unguarded gate to escape. "
'Unguarded' was a bit of an exaggeration as there were usually more than just the gatekeeper at the gate. However, Kosuke highly doubted that the previous gatekeeper's entourage were strong enough to handle someone that had the power to sneak into an officer's meeting and escape alive albeit wounded. In fact, he doubted that any of the gatekeepers alone, except maybe for Kaede, would have managed to deal with the attacker. Fortunately, they had the advantage of the terrain so with a gatekeeper in place, there should not be a single mouse leaving Seireitei without their knowledge. That did not mean that his new position terrified him. Though it wouldn't be the first time he would face life and death situation in his very long life, he did not want to make it a habit.

No worries, I'm a slow poster. There will be a gatekeeper meeting after the captain's meeting. /excited!
Zanavier put away his Soul reaper back to its sheath, he hated to admit that a assailant of the soul king got away...but he was ordered to open the gates, he called back to his men that the enemy had escaped and they were ordered to unlock it, but to keep a close eye on anyone suspicious.
He walked closer to Kosuke so he didn't have to yell at the distance apart they were, first thing he did was stick out his hand for a handshake.
"Its nice to meet a new gatekeeper, I was newly appointed South Gate Keeper not to long ago. Names Zanavier Rosner, but I take it you already knew that, just call me Zanavier...Say...Since now that we are free to do as we please... I've been itching for a fright, Shu had us gatekeepers return to our gates when the attacker made his move against the soul king, I was the first to strike at him but when i tried to give chase, Shu stopped me...mind helping me blow off some steam, Im curious to see what the newly appointed Wester Gatekeeper can do" he said with a competitive glint in his eye

Kosuke tilted his head to consider the gatekeeper's challenge. He really did not want to face the man, not because he did not want to fight, but because the man was simply so damn big of a humanoid, an aspect that he feared. Not to mention that he had wanted to investigate his gate, but he was sure that he could trust the substitute gatekeepers to take care of that. In fact, they would most likely do a better job than he would. Boring things such as surveying and nitpicking wasn't exactly his forte.
"All right," he agreed, reluctance barely visible in his voice, while shaking the man's hand to get an idea of the Zanavier's grip. The Southern Gatekeeper would have the advantage of range what with measuring a good 2 feet taller than Kosuke, but the child had all the intentions of using his agility and speed to his advantage.
"First to draw blood?" he asked, while pushing his sword an inch out of its shield with the thumb of his left hand and jumping a few steps backward to signal that he was ready. Part of his mind couldn't help but go on a tirade about how epic it was to fight on a bridge like this, looming a few hundred feet over empty air while completely ignoring what an unprepared fall would imply.
Zanavier could only smile that this man didn't only wish to fight, but to go as far as to draw blood.
"Oh I can tell we are going to get along just fine... shall we put a few ground rules in play, shikai allowed but no Kido? I always find Kido a cowards tool, when anyone can learn them what strength do you show, that you can practice a spell over and over again... I find true strength in showing what you can do that no one else can match, the power of ones bond between soul reaper and soul slayer"
he draws his sword once more as well as his sheath in his other hand
"So...would you like to go first in releasing your Shikai?" he said with a hungry competitive smile on his face

Kosuke was more than fine with then new rules set up. Kid always gave him a headache. He simply did not have the patience to sit there and recite the same incantation over and over again without so much as moving. The fact that he had literally been forced to learn it didn't help putting demon arts in a positive light.
"No kido is fine with me. I'm better with a sword anyway." Though he didn't think of it as a coward's tool per say, he did not voice his opinion. Being around grownups was something he wasn't used to and he was known to be quite tactless so he's been told countless times to watch what he said. Except that he didn't know what to watch for...
Though the man appeared to have taken a liking to him, it wasn't the case for Kosuke. Zanavier projected the image of a violent man, something Kosuke didn't like in the least bit even if he was the one that had suggested a fight until blood was drawn. Having spent the majority of his life in the more dangerous districts, that had always been the norm when challenging others to a battle. He never understood the principle of wooden swords apart from the fact that they were cheap and easy to make. On the bright side, both he and Zanavier were quite hot-headed and were speaking on the same wavelength in that aspect.
"Shikai? Make me!" Kosuke stuck out his tongue to blow a raspberry at his opponent. Before his opponent could verbally respond, he lunged forward, drawing his sword and bringing it up for an upward slash all in the same movement while making sure to retain a low stance should he need to switch to the payattu style he was more familiar with. Though the movement was fast, he did not consider it a surprise attack as he had already partially readied his sword beforehand and both sides had agreed to the spar.
Zanavier's could tell they were gona be friends real quick, that taunt was only making him want to fight him harder. He saw the attack coming and with enough reflexes met steel with steel, when their swords would clash he would swing horizontally with his sheath. He knew in order to win he had to cut him, but Zanavier did not wish this fight to be over to quickly. He knew he would be able to dodge the sheaths swing and was hoping on it for him to back up just enough to speak.
"Well in that case, lets not beat around the bush shall we!!! DESTROY EVERYTHING IN YOUR WAKE!!!! RAGING TYPHOON!!!!!!"
Zanavier was fired up and god he loved it. His sword and sheath radiated violently with blue energy until engulfed in it, the energy merged together and formed his Harpoon, water had surrounded him when he summoned it. From what Kosuke could see, raging swirling water was around Zanavier, like he was the eye of a mighty storm of water and spirit energy.
Having his attack blocked did not surprise the newest gatekeeper in the least bit and he used the obstacle to push himself back in time to avoid the sheath that had been sent his way. He was about to retaliate when Zanavier released his Shikai, pushing him back even further with water and pure reiatsu. "That was an unnecessary shower!"
At this rate, just the water would be enough to harm Kosuke so he jumped into the air, clasping the tsuba of his blade and returned the favor.
"Kagome, Kagome," he started as he allowed himself to fall towards Zanavier. "When will the bird come out of its cage? The Gray Spirit is calling."
At the sound of its name being called, Kosuke's zanpakuto took on a white glow and transformed into a large toy drum fixed to a handle. The two strings from which 2 bells hung from wrapped themselves around Kosuke's left forearm and hand, afixing the large drum to his arm to serve as a shield. The teen still had his right hand wrapped around the hilt of his sword that had now turned into the den-den daiko's handle, but upon closer inspection, Zanavier would notice that the handle was actually connected to a metal blade wrapped around the sides of the drum.
Kosuke had allowed himself to fall towards Zanavier, rotating midair so that he would be plummeting head first, but to change the speed of his descent, he gathered some reiatsu around his feet and pushed himself downward mid-air in using Air Walk. This gave his fall an increase in speed as though he had suddenly started charging at Zanavier. Kosuke was using the drum to shield himself from incoming attacks with the intentions of landing right on top of the man while activating his Shikai's first ability. Should anything apply pressure on the batter of the drum, it will generate a sonic boom and bounce the offending object back unless a proper amount of pressure is applied.
Zanavier was no fool, when he saw the soul slayer turn into a drum, he knew it had to have a gimmick something involving sound. When Kosuke charged him, he flash stepped back getting some space between them. He didn't know what kind of attack this Drum could produce but distance was a safe bet to get a hold of his abilities.
'Best start off with something light' he thought to himself, he gathered three small orbs of water around hes now open palmed hand, he shot three spears of compressed water, slow enough to block but not as likely to dodge. He was hoping that a distance of 30 feet would be enough to calculate what his abilities can do. When he fired the spears of water, he created water around him, not enough to cover hims completely, but enough that if a physical projectile was shot back, he would make a shield of water to block.
