[General Information] Name: Oliver Colt Nicknames: The Red Star Titles: Red Lantern Age: 21 Birthday: March 30 Star Sign: Aries Gender: Male Race: Human Moral Alignment: Evil
[Personal Information] Occupation: Former College Student,
Former Henchmen to one of Black Skull's affiliates
Ex- Semi-Pro MMA Fighter
Full-time Red Lantern
Sexuality: Asexual Likes: Cigarettes, Sports, Fighting, Music, Drums, Horror, Action, Sci-Fi, and Adventure themed movies and books. Dreams: As a Red Lantern, Oliver wants to put an end to all calamity (Justice). As his normal self, Oliver just wants to live a normal life if possible. Dislikes: Heroes, Normal heroes (Police, Firemen, etc.), Green Lanterns. Fears: With rage capable of scaring others away, you think there would be nothing he should fear. Oliver however fears his own temperament (When he was sane) as well as Atrocitus. Darkest Secret: Not truly known to him as it seems like a distant blur , though he is aware of it, after accepting the ring, but he is responsible for killing the Crime Boss as well as his men. Favourite Food: Salads Favourite Drink: Fruit Punch Least Favourite Food: Okra Least Favourite Drink: Brandy (Liquor) Loyalties: Red Lantern Corps Intelligence Level: His intelligence is at a regular level. He has Street Smarts with Book Smarts, along with a creative mind. Dominant Hand: Left Strengths: Having a form of self discipline through music and sports, Oliver has a medium will over his rage as a Red Lantern. It is through this that he is able to talk a little After being consumed with Rage, his greatest strength lies in being able to construct the most gruesome of creations with his ring, his mind now manifesting his repressed emotions. Weaknesses: Oliver is full of anger from all of his past. It should not take too much to deal with a person that can no longer seem to control it.
His conscience is another factor that can be manipulated if he ever reaches a more calmer state. This means that there is a part of him somewhere that is trying to put a hold to what he is doing. If that can be reached, his mind can possibly keep the Red Lantern at bay for short while.
Cherished Items: A family heirloom which is a silver ring embroidered with sapphires and diamonds. Since he is a Red Lantern, it is all he seems to have left of his family, although they are all still alive.
Philosophical/ Social Viewpoint: Seeing himself as a Phoenix that rose again from the ashes, Oliver wants to see everything burn with fire and rage.
Religious Viewpoint: Does considering him as a Christian still count?
Romantic Viewpoint: At some point, Oliver thought about settling down, but that can be all forgotten at the moment, but that is all completely voided out by his desire to watch things burn.
Personality Before, Oliver's personality is usually the kind of caring, concerned with an attitude personality. What he says (if it comes off negative) does bother him, especially around people he cares about.
Now that it seems everything he has known to love is gone, he is nothing but rage and fear, the kind of rage that allows him to laugh and cause people to run in fear. People's pain is now his fuel. His anger is in three stages:
1. Anger- In this state, Oliver is nothing but complete rage, thus allowing his constructs to appear like fire and slightly unstable, but strong enough to hold it's own against another Lantern. 2. Tears of Frustration- Reaching the second stage after having to deal with, the red energy is now channeled through his eyes, giving the impression of him having tears. In this state, he can create constructs at a faster rate, but they are a bit weaker as opposed to his anger as he is fueled with frustration rather than a purer form of anger. 3. Complete Unison- Oliver has no channeled both Anger and Frustration into one, allowing him to think completely clear in the most sensible form of Anger. In this state, his constructs are more stable, giving the appearance of fire once more. With this state, his mind is practically limitless in what he creates.
Biography If you looked back to six years ago, Oliver wasn't as menacing and crime intolerant as he is today. In fact the monster he is today is a far cry from the regular kid who used to go to school, make good grades and do all the usual boring things that normal people did. It wasn't until Oliver stumbled into a robbery and murder after taking a shortcut from school that everything seemed to get exciting/ go awry. In the wrong place at the wrong time, Oliver attracted the attention of the crime lord who ran his neighborhood. Oliver needed to keep his mouth shut and the crime boss was very good at making sure people didn't talk; he made an investment out of Oliver, giving his family money under the guise of good will and sent Ollie off to college but seemingly owning his soul at the same time. The liberating experience of education, was now the leash the Crime Lord fastened tight around Oliver's neck...
Two years into the education the Crime Lord provided him at the University of California; Oliver began to fall into more dubious extra-curriculars than his classmates. With the Crime Lord cashing in favors left right and center, the two grew close and the Crime Lord even began to view him as a son but Oliver knew that this was only a temporary deal. He would see out the payment of his debts to keep his loved ones safe and that would be the end of it. Everyday, the prospect of telling someone what he knew became more and more enticing but the police were corrupt, there was no evidence and it had been years. This, unfortunately, was his life. The only time he felt free was when he immersed himself in his more legitimate hobbies such as baseball and Mixed Martial Arts.
After graduating, Oliver was met not only by his Family but the Crime Lord too. He even posed in pictures with Oliver as he promoted him to the rank of Lieutenant in his syndicate. Feeling more and more trapped by the Crime Lord, Oliver turned to the only person in Coast City he knew would be able to help him: The Green Lantern. He thought that because of the fact he wasn't too far gone down the wrong path, the Lantern would be able to forgive his crimes and save his family from the Crime Lord. He thought that once he explained this wasn't the person he truly was then everything would be okay. But it wasn't, in fact, it would never be okay again; for as Oliver made moves to catch the Green Lantern's attention: Hal Jordan disappeared. With no where left to turn, Oliver turned to drastic measures and confronted his boss about ending their arrangement.
Gun in hand, Oliver pointed it at the crime boss and tried his hardest to convince the crime lord to let him go but seeing the boy as an investment too important to throw away; the Crime Lord instead kidnapped Oliver's family and offered him an ultimatum. Oliver either continued doing his job or his family died. Scared, confused and angry; Oliver wished that he was the Green Lantern instead of Hal Jordan so that he could do something about all of this, his fate, his family, crime in general. But he wasn't the Green Lantern, he was a slave to the crime for the rest of his life and as he thought about it more and more the anger only grew. He'd been holding it in for years, hating himself, hating the crime lord, hating the world for its unfairness and as if answering all his prayers to not only become a Lantern but to put an end to all of it, a bright red light crashed through the window raining glass on everyone's heads.
"You have great rage in your heart....You belong to the Red Lantern Corp."
Forcing its way onto his finger, the ring stopped Oliver's heart dead and poisoned his blood with not only his own rage but the rage of the entire Red Lantern Corps.Oliver, unfortunately, was gone. The young man who had never wanted to murder, instead spewed the strange blood like liquid from his mouth all over the mobsters and killed them all resulting in his family to turn away in shock and horror. He didn't even recognize them as he turned their way, his eyes were just red and empty, all he could think about was how angry he was, how much he wanted the world to pay that people like him and his family were given such a rough ride of things when they were nothing but good people and with that disappeared into the night sky. A red shooting star...
Oliver was eventually taken to Ysmault by his ring and brought before Atrocitus whom recognized Oliver's rage and welcomed him to the Red Lantern Corps as he did all his other recruits. After a few months of bizarre and inhumane training session, Oliver was released back to Earth with only one mission in mind: To reform the world in his image. He started first with the mud of the world, the petty thieves and the mobsters but soon realized that as long as heroes existed, evil would naturally exist to oppose them and what's more the Green Lantern Ring that had failed him before was now on the hand of a new Green Lantern. Wanting his revenge on the symbol that failed him; Oliver set his sights on his first hero target: The Green Lantern
[Relationship Information] Friends: ○ Character Name as Url Link | Force | Relationship Type Relationship Explanation
Enemies: ○ Green Lanterns in General Type Relationship Explanation
Family: ○ Elizabeth Ross-Colt (Mother) Alex Colt (Father) Alexis Colt (Younger sister) Relationship Explanation
Romantic Relationships: ○ Character Name as Url Link | Force They Belong To | Relationship Type Relationship Explanation
[Weapon Information] ○ Weapon/ Item Name:
○ Red Lantern Ring: The Red Power Rings were created as a conduit for the Red Energy of Rage. A Red Lantern Ring is similar in form and function to that of a Green Lantern Ring. However, whereas a Green Lantern Power Ring is powered by willpower, a Red Lantern Ring is fueled by rage. Members, upon taking on the ring, undergo a form of indoctrination; making its members give into the rage and hatred in their hearts until it is all that they know; an all consuming need for revenge and destruction which in turn takes over their minds. For one to be accepted by a Red Power Ring, one must feel great rage over a loss. A red ring functionally replaces the heart of its bearer, rendering it useless. The blood spoils and the ring expels it from the bearer's mouth in a vomit of violent rage. A Red Lantern's veins stretch as they fill with the liquid fire of the red light. The only known method of removing the ring safely is to place a Blue Lantern Ring upon the bearer, which shatters the Red ring, and starts the bearer's heart again.
○ Red Lantern Power Battery: Power Batteries are constantly charged by the Central Power Battery to manually fuel about 7200 individual Green Lantern Rings. With few exceptions the Power Ring is limited to a 24 hour charge and must be recharged in the Power Battery on a daily basis[Ability Information]
○ Red Energy Conduit: The rings use Red energy, supplied by a Red Power Battery, which in most cases takes the form of red light. A Red Lantern's ring has the ability to affect and use fundamental forces of the universe, including gravity, radiation, heat, light, and blasts of concussive force. The ring can also create force fields formed from energy was bound by the user's rage. The limitations of such use are the skill, knowledge and imagination of the user.
○ Rage Plasma: Red Lanterns can vomit plasma, which has been described as napalm and acid mixed together; it burns away at anything. These flames burn even in space. The effect it has on living beings allows it to ignite the flames of rage in a victim's blood and has the effect of burning through energy aura's of an opponent, as well as corrupting other power rings, depleting them at an accelerated rate and greatly weakening the structures they create. This plasma is also one of the only substances in the universe that can destroy a Black Lantern corpse faster than it can regenerate itself.
○ Energy Projection: The ring can be used to fire blasts of Rage energy. This power is unique, as it takes the form of rage-energized blood. The ring can project this blood as a blast that has the effect of a concussive blast with high destructive capability. The weapons power is more an indication of the Rage of the user, rather then their willpower.
○ Energy Constructs: The ring can form constructs of Rage energy. The primary function of the Power Ring is to provide a weapon capable of transforming the wearer's thoughts into physical constructs through the wearer's rage. A Red Lantern can create any particular items or construct that they can imagine as long as they have the appropriate amount of rage necessary to will it into existence. The constructs are made out of red energy, which is a tangible form of pure rage, and they exist only as long as a Red Lantern is fueling it with their rage. Items created by the rings are not indestructible and are only as powerful as the rage of the Red Lantern creating them. The types of constructs usually reflects the ring wearer's personality. However, most Red Lanterns are so consumed by rage that they cannot focus the willpower needed to bring constructs into existance. Atrocitus, Rankorr, Guy Gardner and Hal Jordan are the only ones seen so far to make energy constructs with a Red Power Ring.
○ Force-Field: The ring can create various forcefields of various sizes and shapes to protect the wearer and others around him or her. In space, a red ring creates a force-field around the wearer, protecting him/her/it from the hazards of the void, including filtration of stellar radiation and microscopic particulate matter which would ordinarily be fatal should the space debris strike the ring wielder at high speeds. An atmosphere appropriate to the ring wielder's biology is created inside the force-field, body temperature is maintained and waste products are removed. Gravitational stresses which could cause injury are stabilized for the ring wielder.
○ Flight: By the manipulation of anti-gravitons and directed molecular movement, the ring allows the user to fly at incredible speeds. ○ Rage Infection: The Red Power Ring is capable of infecting others with the rage of the Red Lantern, which can lead to them being converted to the the Red Lantern Cause. ○ Rage Empowerment: the Red Lantern ring is unique in that its base of power, Rage, can be manipulated by the ring user. A Red Lantern can detect the rage in the heart of others and by connection the blood that pumps that blood. The rage and hatred of a individual red lantern empowers their abilities as well as the rage and hatred of others. ○ Life Support: these power ring also allowed the host to survive a fatal removal of their user's heart, as they replaced it. ○ Security Protocol: The rings can be programmed. They are coded to the wearer to make them unusable if stolen.
[Weakness Information]
○ Weakness Name:
○ Life-Support Dependency: As the Red Power Ring assumes the functions of the heart, a Red Lantern cannot remove the ring without risking death.
○ Uncontrollable Rage: Because red is on the farthest edges of the emotional spectrum, Red Lanterns are unable to think clearly or be reasoned with. They rarely speak, save for their leader Atrocitus, and often attack without distinction.
○ Hope: the Blue light of hope is seemingly the only power that can extinguish the red flame, it can also reverse the effects of the ring and free them.
○ Love: As it is the opposite of Rage, the Red Power Ring's connection to the wielder will be severed and they will die, if they feel Love or made to feel it.
○ Recharge Protocol: Formerly, the Rings needed to be charged after a period of 24 hours, regardless of how often it was used,

Hey Sean, although it's cool that you're taking on being a Red Lantern and everything; there is one small problem. Your profile has a lot of grammatical mistakes in it and seems almost broken and fragmented in places, if you need a hand, give me or Grogan a shout and we will try and help you with anything you need. However, as it stands, if your profile is like this, I'm not sure that your rping will be any different and we need quality when it comes to all Lanterns.

Well this was borrowed from another character actually, so things such as the bio may be fragmented in order to format it for this guild. I did not realize it until now, so I could use a little bit more help.

Probably just trying to make it all seem legit, smoothing everything together to make it more sensible and whatnot. It's midterm week, so I'm not 100% at full thinking capacity.

Fair enough bro, well then, let's sort it all out then and start basic. I gotcha back! biggrin First of all, due to the nature of the Red Lantern Ring, you kind of no longer need a civilian identity or a picture displaying your civilian identity because in all honesty, you need to always be powered up in order to stay alive. The Red Ring stops the heart beating and replaces it as the body's main life support. So it's not like with Hal Jordan or Sinestro where they can take their rings off and be in their normal clothes again. Y'know? Get rid off the second picture and just keep the Red Lantern one and then we'll move onto what we should change next.

Wicked, look at that it looks better already, no more quishedness, the text looks better. WOOP!
So the first part of the profile is fine. Good. However, it starts to get a little messy and broken in the personal information.
In the occupation section remove the brackets, there's no need for them and they don't really do anything and just make your list rather broken. Just put Former [Insert whatever gang you belonged to here] Henchman and put next to your Former MMA Fighter your level of professionalism. So for example:
Ex Semi-Pro MMA Fighter.
Your sexuality would be Asexual for now because Red Lanterns find it hard to love and its a death sentence if they do. So putting yourself as Asexual, will not only cover the fact you're overcome with rage but also kind of shield you against in IC. If you do still want to have it questionable you need to state what sort of sexuality it could be so you could be anything from Bi-Curious to Sapiosexual, y'know??
Would you have dreams as a Red Lantern? Would you like to go back to your former life or something like that?
Fears just needs a wording re-work. Rage-Factor sounds a little silly, say temperament or something.
If he doesn't know about it it's not a secret. Also, if he does know about ti say it, don't say "It's in his bio".
Intelligence level. Re-word. It's really messed up at the moment. His intelligence doesn't really factor into the fact he can use constructs, its more a question of willpower and what he's used to doing. Hal does it because it's what he's used to doing with a ring and he has strong willpower, not because he's clever.
Strengths, so he was somewhat self disciplined before he had the Red Lantern Ring? Cool. Say that though, you can mention it was music that helped him become self-disciplined but in the end music isn't a strength; I wish it was but in terms of character its not. It's the skills you gain through music such as discipline and patience that are the strengths.
Weaknesses need rewording, so his biggest weakness is his repressed anger that he's been carrying around for a while, that's cool but how you've worded it seems a little about the houses. The fact you included something that could play into it if he ever gets restored is good though, just rework that.
Chersihed Item, rework. There is no need for that to be three sentences.
Philosophical stuff, I think saying he wants to see the world burn would be more appropriate. Or saying he wants vengeance on the world for being so cruel to him. Red Lanterns usually don't want things to get back up once they incinerate them otherwise we're heading into Black Lantern/ Zombie territory.
Religious viewpoint, don't put emotes in a profile, it's a profile. But yes, he can still be christian but you'll have to somehow work with the fact its hard for him to be that due to the fact the red lantern ring has him now.
Romantic viewpoint, talk about the red ring, say its blinded him to what he once wanted for himself.
Personality: Split it into before and after the ring got him.
I'll do deal with your bio after this lot has been done.

Original Bio Six years ago: Oliver was not always as menacing and intolerable to crime. In fact he was less of the monster he is. He was a regular decent kid that went to school, made good grades, and all the normal lives heroes would probably find boring. Who knew that Oliver would end up stumbling upon a crime scene on his way back one day? A crime lord had ordered someone to kill off a nuisance and the High Schooler just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. With him being a witness, you could see where it all went; he could either keep shut about it or the crime boss made sure his and everyone else he possibly knew mouths stayed shut. With that, his middle class family had "mysteriously" found some money that prompted them to send Oliver away to one of the best colleges when he graduated from high school. If you looked back to six years ago, Oliver wasn't as menacing and crime intolerant as he is today. The liberating experience of education, was now the leash the Crime Lord fastened tight around Oliver's neck...Quote: Four years later: Oliver is now in his second year of college at the University of California. The past four years were spent with a Crime Boss that pretty much "saw" him as a son, but not close enough to let him live his life to the fullest. As such, the crime boss had conveniently located himself to California as well to keep a better eye on him. Oliver found ways to mask his rage and frustration of having his family and friends be constant targets. The once "brains" student took to sports such as Baseball and Mixed Martial Arts to keep that anger to a minimum. He even dirtied himself having to run on errands the boss asked him to. The thought of wanting to rat the man out had crossed his mind, but he could truly trust no one, not even the cops. They were corrupt with some of his men to begin with which was why the crime from before was so easy to cover up. The only time he felt free was when he immersed himself in his more legitimate hobbies such as baseball and Mixed Martial Arts.Quote: Two Years Later: Oliver is now a senior and a "Lieutenant" in the Crime Boss's organization. Throughout his time in California, Oliver had come to know the local hero of the city, The Green Lantern. He saw that as a means of trying to escape from future bound state of forever being a subordinate to crime. Though the male had not really committed serious crimes like killing, he was tasked with having to rob a few places, rough up a few people; it was a life he did not enjoy as he was truly a person that did not believe in violence. As luck seemed to have it with him, the day he thought to make a move and get help from a Lantern would be the day Hal Jordan disappeared. This left the crime boss with hurting his family, though he never got far with killing them off from unforeseen incidents awaiting to happen. That left Oliver with thinking that even their so called heroes had turned their backs on him -which really was not the case, although he did not know that- prompting his anger to fuel to great heights.
"You have great rage in your heart....You belong to the Red Lantern Corp."
Thinking this was a way to power to put an end to his problem as he truly did not know any better, the ring granted him powers of the Green Lantern but with a high cause; the rage accumulated from years of hurting others as well as just being around things he hated the most had finally coursed through his veins, seeming to replace his heart. Oliver seemed to be gone, replaced with a monster fueled with red energy that closely resembled blood spewing from his mouth. With that, there was truly nothing holding him back as he put an end to the Crime boss once and for all as well as dealing with all his cohorts. Oliver was not done though. There were too many good people like him that were given a lot of rough breaks. If there truly was no justice in the world, he would let his rage do all the solving for him.
Quote: That however would have to wait for a much later time as with all Lanterns, the time to be sent to their "Home" had arrived. There Oliver had met Atrocitus. After having some form of warped training for a few months in, Oliver had returned to Earth slightly better than when he first acquired the ring, but hell bent on delivering "justice" just the same. Any hero in his sight were just as bad as the pigs that rolled in the mud (low crime goons). His eyes were set on only one thing at the moment however: Green.
Wanting his revenge on the symbol that failed him; Oliver set his sights on his first hero target: The Green Lantern.

Thanks. The bio is way better than what I had. I never knew too much with the Red Lanterns (Only Green, Sinestro, and Blue mostly), so that helps a lot. It even makes everything more sensible instead of jagged and fragmented as I had it.
