So much had happened in the past few days that Zanna Kosa felt like her head was utterly spinning.
So little of it made sense, too. There was a burning sense that she had
forgotten something, but at the same time, there was nothing to forget. She had offered what she needed to, and the goddesses had granted her with multiple blessings to show their favor to her for doing as she was asked by them each time they requested it.
Zanna Kosa found herself reflecting as she sat herself in The World's End, watching as more fragments seemed to float by her face. At the moment, though, she did not feel compelled to pick them up, instead turned inwards on what had happened to her the past few days as she attempted to keep up with everything the Goddesses demanded of her as a candidate.
And she was a proper Candidate now. She had turned in her nomination to the bright right plaque, had she not? That made her a Candidate to become the Goddess of Anguish. Everything in the world was Sorrow. She couldn't help but believe that as time went on, a sour feeling in her heart as she recalled the emotions that lingered after every single sacrifice she had made to the Goddesses.
There was an emotion of worry and bitterness that she had left with the first one, but a feeling of confidence that things would turn out alright once she was the Goddess of Anguish.
Why, though?
The second day, though, was what truly left her with a sick feeling in her stomach. She was
prey. She could not remember what made her prey, but she remembered the face that stared down at her, telling her it would only hurt just a little bit, before she felt one snip, and then another, tearing her very blue heart out of the cavity where it belonged. The pain was enough to make Zanna hold back a choked out cry, very displeased to relive what might have been the most unpleasant sensation she had felt so far.
The third task, though, left her feeling much less ... depressed. It was not necessarily the happiest feeling she left with, but it was better than it had been. She felt like she understood more, though she did not remember what she understood. Still, the blessing she received was the one that left her with the warmest feeling of all, and it still brought a smile to her face even a day after it had occurred, even if that smile faded with the twinge of the important thing she had left for someone important.
What had that been?
Perhaps it didn't matter.
Zanna Kosa stood up, looking around. No more silly reflecting. It was time to move forward and focus her efforts on pleasing the Goddesses, so they may elevate her to the position of the Goddess of Anguish. Then, everything would be alright.
