Really random, this subject, but my brother and I started reminiscing and I brought up a certain topic that scared both me and him as children.
A long time ago, maybe 8 or 9 years ago, my family owned an old iMac. It was slow, dirty, terrible overall, but we used it because it was the only computer our house had.
One day, I don't remember why, I was behind my brother and he was getting on the computer. He turned it on and it slowly started loading up. Suddenly, for maybe half a second, a picture, in all red, of an Indian chief's head popped up. It flashed on and then disappeared.
Both of us, being children at the time, were terrified. It happened one more time to my brother. Except the color was negative. We looked all over the archives of that iMac, there was no picture of an that guy anywhere. That computer never did that again, for the next 6 years we had it.
I looked up on Google for similar incidences but nothing...
Like, wtf? Has anyone had this happen? No reason for bringing this up I just remembered it and wondered if anyone else saw a random Indian man.

Woah... That's really creepy. I think I would've been scarred if that happened to me.

;w; No one has ever had this happen?! My brother flinches every time he turns a computer on now, though.
For awhile, after it happened, I would hold my breath until I saw the login screen. gonk

Maybe... Think of it as a dream! & then think on the interpretation for said dream!
I'm sorry... I just thought, maybe this would be a nice way to think about it. Rather than the, umm, 'mentally scarring' way. sweatdrop

I'm really sorry that you had that happen to you, and your brother. That would've been scarring for me too. The only way I would think that were possible is how someone made that computer specifically. I don't know... you said it was old, maybe the previous owner lived in Sketchville or something...

I can imagine how that would be scarring for you and your brother! sheesh.
That's pretty weird though! Especially since you didn't have the picture on the computer. I'd have said maybe your parents were playing a joke, but with no evidence...creepy. I've had a few weird things that have happened to me and my family, but nothing to do with a computer.
Though the irony of an Indian chief haunting an iMac isn't lost on me. iChief.

Thats just scary! I would have been panicing and screaming my head off and probably toss that computer out the window without a second thought! Though I will admit that your story beats my mom's story about this inciden she had with her Native American collection.
This is my mom's story. She was sleeping in the living room and since our living is filled with Native American things(She has grown an obsession with Native Americans, Don't know why but she just did) it was dark in that living room and when she woke up, she was like 'WTF?!' because of one of the statue we have(and still have it) was a Native American chief with a headdress. Appearantly, this certain statue its eyes started to glow when my mom woke up from her nap and was staring straight at her.
You are so lucky to have gotten rid of that old computer. I still have to live in this house with a creepy living room that no one likes to be in alone because they feel like something is there and watching them.

Hasn't happened to me, but I do know that with older computers - a lot of viruses would kind of "announce" that they were there in the system. A lot of viruses would come with a picture of something flashing or moving across the screen, it was like the virus' signature. So to me, it sounds like a virus - I could always be wrong, but it's the best thing I can think of.

That would have spooked me as well, despite my respect for Native Americans. O_O;
Indian statues/figurines are used in witchcraft, for protection and other... reasons.
Oi, have you ever checked the history of the area where you live in?
