When Umi arrived at work, the first thing she did was drop off her things at her locker, before going out to the floor to do a quick walk through and make sure all equipment was neatly stacked and ready for any customers to come in for their work outs. As usual, things were in place and ready to go so there wasn't actually much to do. She found a single white towel that someone had left draped over the handle of an exercise bicycle and that was easily remedied.

So with nothing to do, Umi found herself just...lounging, waiting for someone to come in or something to happen. Maybe she should go find the music player and put on some better music or something.

It was time for a work out. One where he can buff up those nonexistent muscles and be able to flex them to show off his manliness. Plus, he had nothing else to do. His job didn’t start until later on in the day, and it wasn’t like he could really do much during his job. This was a small town after all, so it wasn’t like he had to force people out of the Lucky Shot or anything. At the most, he was sprinkled with glitter from his coworkers. Other than the occasional flailing to get the contaminated sparkles because he was pretty sure he knew where those have been, there wasn’t much action. Well, he could always go on a cleaning spree, but the temptation to snatch whatever was around might have been too much. Plus, he didn’t want to get fired already! That was why he had to spend his free time at somewhere other than work, and the best place was the gym!

As he entered the gym, Briar wasn’t all too sure what to start with. After all, from all the different equipments everywhere, he didn’t know which to pick. Oh! Look! There was a bluenette over there. Perfect. He could casually use her as a good way to not look like a flailing embarrassment. All he had to do was just be next to her on whatever she picked, and bam! He wouldn’t be a loner! He gave a small height jokes weren’t allowed wave at the woman and greeted her with a grin. “Hey there!”

Christine had not been on the island long but she was getting settled in somewhat and had a job set up--Eoin had offered her to work in the winery office but she was not going to be able to work with her brother (or her niece) so she had found something else that required more sitting and no real physical labor. It sounded boring as hell, and she didn't even need to work since her family was bloody well loaded, but working would keep her occupied so she didn't mind it.

But she wasn't starting just yet so she had another trip to make. This island was practically podunk hell from what she had seen of it, and she doubted they had the facilities to finish out her rehab, but she figured she'd check at the gym anyway. They might have some trainers who could help her with the remaining therapy she needed for her back and shoulder.

She could try anyway. So she had printed out her therapy prescription, as well as all the exercises she was supposed to do and had actually walked into town to find the damn place. It wasn't a long walk but her stupid back and hip were aching by the time she pulled the door of....Macho Mania (What the actual hell??) open and stepped inside. Tucking back a lock of hair that had fallen loose from her ponytail, she looked around with a grimace.

Would it kill them to use some air freshener? She looked around, not really seeing anyone to talk to--not even a receptionist. Was there anyone here? The door was unlocked so....

"Hello?"

There were several benefits to working at the gym compared to working at the inn for Zhi. But, she had to guiltily admit her favorite was lounging in the sauna before any of the regulars arrived. She looooved River, but even she needed some time alone and she managed to get that by working with Todd, even if she felt he was trying to steal her wife away from her half the time. ..Oh, would you look at that, Zhi's anxiety's had decided to rear up to the forefront of her mind and she was up and out of the sauna before she could register what she was doing. She stole a quick glance at the rest of the lounge, where River was probably off doing handstands or whatever, but her real goal was to find out where.. Ah, Todd wasn't here, she guessed? And she didn't see any of the rest of the staff either.. Good. She could probably take a shower and get dressed before taking her post at the front of the--

Zhi crinkled her nose at the sound of a female's voice calling from the front of the building, informing her she had thirty seconds before she absolutely had to come out to greet the newcomer. She let out a dramatic sigh as she changed back into her regular clothes, discarding the towel she donned onto a rack. Twenty seconds in with five seconds spent thanking her old manager for forcing her to learn how to get clothes on super, super fast, Zhi was walking back out across the equipment floor. She squinted her eyes as she tried to catch a glimpse at the newcomer who had forced her to come out all.. gross and sweaty, before widening them because oh. She was hot.

….Which made her the biggest threat Zhi could imagine, oh, no. She walked up, hands on hips and chest out as she greeted the woman (Christine) – but then she remembered she was at work and couldn't start to intimidate a potential customer. So, she folded her hands infront of her and swapped for a friendlier vibe, “Hello! I am sorry for the wait, ma'am, I had to restock the drinks in our VIP lounge. Are you in need of service?” She smiled at her as she went to sit behind the front desk, taking her usual spot, “My name is Mrs. Zhi Park and I will be happy to help in whatever you need.

Todd was currently standing behind a weight bench. His legs were adequately spread and his hands were held open to catch the bar if need be. It was just another wonderful day at the gym, one in which he was tasked with actually training. He looked down at Xeiro with a smile. "Okay, 25. That's good for now." He clapped his hands together and stood up straight. "I'm not really feeling it yet, man. C'mon. Let's do 25 more." Todd sighed and shook his head before reassuming the position. "I'll give you 5 then we're done. Bros don't let bros skip their leg exercises." He chuckled and rubbed his hands together before moving them closer to the bar. A few more reps, with strange grunts included, and Todd had to reach to lift the bar back onto it's post. "I told you 25 was good." He straightened his stance up and extended his hand to help the other man up. The two men began walking towards the next station when the door opened. The view from where they were was slightly obstructed, but they could faintly hear the sound of a woman's voice.

That was basically all it took for the two of them to perk up, look at one another and make a mad dash towards the door. Of course there was some adolescent shoving (and some abuse of their long legs to leap over equipment) during this race. Little did they know that Zhi was already on top of the situation. Todd halted at the sound of Zhi's voice around the corner, and maybe stuck his foot out in the heat of the moment to cause Xeiro to topple to the ground. Was it bad to take care of the fact that his client was somewhat of an idiot? He came bounding around the corner, leaving Xeiro on the ground, and walked towards the two women. Ah, yes. It was a good choice to hurry in. This lovely woman could certainly use his support. He glanced over at Zhi as she took her seat. "Zhi, why don't you go make sure the sauna has been cleaned? I can handle this one. I've got a slow schedule anyway." Dammit, he wished so hard that it weren't too weird to slide Zhi some money right now. He'd have to do it later. In the meantime, he sent a sly wink towards her before turning his attention back to the lovely new customer.

Now officially off of the floor, Xeiro came around the corner with his own goofy smile. "I'm glad to have a lady around here for once. Well, one that doesn't scream butch." He covered the side of his mouth near Zhi to whisper that last part. Todd, on the other hand, was trying his hardest to stop gritting his teeth. Why hadn't Xeiro just stayed on the ground?! Did he think it was his own clown feet that had tripped him? Goddess. How was Todd ever going to show off how great he was when tall, handsome and stupid was gallivanting around? It was obvious that every woman secretly wanted to get back to the caveman days and Xeiro was the closest thing that Todd had ever seen. He managed to push through it and extend his hand to Christine with a smile. "Nice to meet you. I'm Todd, the owner of the gym." Yeah, that's right Xeiro. You don't have that, do you? No. You own a shitty bakery where you act like a woman. This is what man's work looks like.

"I just need to know about the professionals you have on staff at this gym," Christine said as she was approached by an attractive woman that she assumed, from her attire, was the receptionist. She held out the manila folder she was carrying with her. In it was a list of her injuries and the prescribed physical therapy, as well as the exercise regimen to help with the residual pain, and to get her mobility back. "I need to know if you have anyone here with any experience with this kind of thing or just, you know, the general ability to work with me on this."

She was interrupted when there were rather suspicious noises in the next room, followed by a disturbing thud--and a tall....well...hellooo, tall hot and really muscular. Christine's lips curved into a smile as the man approached and...ordered the woman in front of her to go clean the sauna? Alrighty. Oh hey, another man--a much older looking man. Not that he was bad looking, but he looked like he was her brother's age. They were both definitely the big, dumb type though. Definitely a type of which she approved.

"A pleasure," Christine said, reaching to take Todd's hand. "Christine Tremaine. It's a pleasure to meet you, Todd. I was just telling Mrs. Park that I'm inquiring about the staff on hand. I'm in need of someone to help continue some rehabilitation for a back and shoulder injury, among other things. You can have a look through this if you like." She held out the file to Todd instead of Zhi simply because, well, now that the owner was here, it seemed a little weird to give the file to the receptionist. She did feel a little bad for the woman though since the men seemed determined to tease her.

She smiled faintly at Xeiro. "So...the beautiful, attractive Mrs. Park doesn't count as a lady? Or do you just not pay attention to her since she works here? Seems a shame to pass up someone with such a great body just because she's an employee..."

The smallest of the gym employees had been off in some obscure corner of the gym, practicing handstands, as she often did. To the untrained eye, it might seem like River wasn't taking her job very seriously, but in actuality! ...Actually, yeah, no, she didn't take her job very seriously. Mostly she just showed up, played for a while, and then got paid. Pretty awesome deal! She didn't have any clients at the moment, so it could get a little boring. She had already mastered cartwheels, so now she was trying to see if she could figure out how to walk on her hands. After doing this for a while, she felt that familiar urge in the back of her brain -- time to find something new to do! Flipping herself back onto her feet, River wiggled her arms to get rid of the tense feeling, and began to trot off in search of something to do. So many options! She could distract Zhi at the front desk, or pester the few customers they had, or Todd... Todd! When in doubt, go bother the boss man!

"Todd Todd Todd," she chanted as she popped over to weight bench where Todd and Xeiro had just been training. Huh? No one was there. "Todd Todd Todd," she tried again, checking out the saunas, but no. Maybe Zhi would know? Practically skipping by this point, she burst through the doors leading to the reception area, and sure enough, there was the man she was looking for! "Todd Todd Todd! Let's have a muscle off, I challenge you!" She ran up and gave Todd's back a hard shove in greeting. "Whaddya say? Oogadie boogadie!" Just for good measure, she tickled his sides before peering out from behind Todd at everyone else, finally noticing they weren't alone. There was Xeiro, and Zhi, and a pretty white haired lady. What were they doing, all gathered like this? "...What's goin' on?" Why were they all looking at each other like that?

Zhi was about to take the folder and check it out for the woman when everyone who threatened to present a better option for River had decided to accumulate in the room at once and, ugh, if she didn't already feel insecure enough as it was, that stupid, big, ugly, old lug had to open his big, fat mouth. She didn't care what he whispered, what he said aloud was enough to make her scowl and want to storm out so she could clean the sauna to brood alone for a few hours. Except she couldn't do any of that because River was back there somewhere and she didn't want to look dumb or impulsively ambush her with idiotic feelings if she ran into her. So, she stood there long enough to patiently hand Todd the file and listen to them attempt to woo the woman – ha, like any of them stood a chance with the nicest person she had ever seen, wow. She almost dropped the folder as she forgot what she was doing in the moment the woman spoke up on her because, really, she didn't think – she didn't remember the last time someone she didn't know called her all of that.

She opened her mouth to say something, but she wasn't entirely sure what it was when River had bounded into the room. Her cheeks flushed in embarrassment and she shoved the manila folder at Todd, bowing her head and muttering a quick, “I will get right to that, Mr. van Kwil. Excuse me.” She paused to go give River a quick kiss on the cheek to remind everyone that she was still married and not open game before she dashed out of the room. She could get a quick shower done and change out of her sweaty clothes before maybe grabbing River for an impromptu date. The men would probably be happy to be alone with the newcomer anyway.

Todd eagerly shook the hand of the beautiful young lady before listening intently to what she had to say. He tried his best to not allow his eyes to trail anywhere but her face, but dammit he just really wanted to look over the goods. He remained strong, however, and was able to mostly maintain eye contact.

Xeiro, on the other hand, was ogling the hell out of this fine piece of woman.

Todd flipped through the file, happy to see many things that he was familiar with. There were also a few things that he wasn't so sure he had heard of but could most definitely figure out. He glanced up at her again, yeah. He could definitely figure this out. "I think that honesty is a good place to start with a relationship such as this." He closed the file and handed it back to her. "We currently have an opening for a physical therapist. I do not personally have any formal training in physical therapy aside from one or two classes that were mandatory. However, I have done some research on my own time over some of these concepts and believe that I could assist you until the position is fulfilled." He finished with a smile and awaited the yes that was sure to come.

Xeiro had assumed a perfect pushup stance and had begun doing clap pushups at some point during Todd's extensive talk. His pecs and biceps were all bouncy and sweat had begun to form on his perfectly chiseled face.

Todd was incapable of paying attention to the buffoon behind him, but had begun secretly flexing his own muscles in order to make himself look more super buff. That way, she would see how fit he was and know that she should allow him to assist her with her therapy.

Todd had stopped flexing and Xeiro had missed a clap and fallen flat onto the ground at the sound of such a great body. Xeiro pushed himself up onto his hands and looked over at Christine. Was she into girls? Holy cannolis, that was hot. He decided it was probably a good time to flip over and started doing some crunches, now not only trying to show off his hot bod, but to suppress how hot that just was.

Todd looked over at Zhi and smiled awkwardly. Zhi had some nice features, sure, but she was always that super possessive employee in the back of his mind. As if right on cue, River entered the room and began jabbing and patting him in all sorts of weird ways. He jerked and lifted his knee up in attempts to block her from poking his sides anymore. He couldn't giggle like a little sissy in front of Christine! That was it! The extra money that Zhi was giving was coming out of River's pocket. "Oh, River. This is Christine. She's new in town and is in need of some physical therapy. Christine, this is River. She's a personal trainer here." He gestured awkwardly at each of them as he said their names. Introducing people was always weird, especially when he was trying to impress.

At the sound of muscle off, Xeiro had bounced up from the floor and was now flexing his bicep up in the air. "Yeah, Todd! Let's have a muscle off!" He smiled so large that it felt like his cheeks might rip, but this was just too perfect of an opportunity to pass up!

What? No. A muscle off with Xeiro? It was easier if it had only been River because she was a girl! With Xeiro getting in the mix, he wasn't so sure anymore. He hadn't ever really took the time to measure their arms side by side. Now seemed like another tragic do or die moment. He glanced over at Zhi and nodded as she excused herself, though he felt a little uncomfortable with the formality. Maybe she was just flustered by the new girl too. That was probably it. Now that there were no more distractions (unfortunately), he sighed and rolled up his sleeve to expose his bicep and flexed it with a large smile. "Why don't you be the judge, Christine?"

Christine pushed the file back at Todd when he tried to hand it back to her. She was really trying not to get distracted by the large man doing...push ups right there. While clapping. But talking over the clapping was really irritating. She resisted the urge to give him a savage kick to the ribs to make him stop. Who the hell did that? "I brought that for you," she told him. "I think it would be better for you to keep the medical history on file so we can keep track of progress. I've been doing rehab for my injuries for nearly half a year already but it'll be some time before I completely recover." She chewed her lip as she listened to him explain how he would probably be the one helping her though he wasn't a therapist himself. That wasn't...ideal. But it didn't seem there was actually another option.

"Very well," Christine said, smiling up at him. "I'm used to forty-five minute sessions, twice a week. If your schedule allows it, that's what I'd like to continue. Though I've been out of therapy for a few weeks due to moving and some personal issues. Just warning you now that I'm in a bloody lot of pain so our first few sessions are going to be...hell." She trailed off to watch Xeiro do his crunches just...right...there. Raising an eyebrow as she looked down at him disdainfully. She had just opened her mouth to say something when another woman came in and started tickling Todd?

What...the hell was that about? A girlfriend? Or...not. A personal trainer. Well okay. "It's a pleasure, River" Christine said, smiling politely. All those years of learning proper etiquette could come in handy sometimes. One thing they made you perfect was how to smile when you really wanted to stab something in the face repeatedly. Which, she only felt that way because by this point she had no idea what was going on.

"I don't know what a muscle-off is?" Or why she had to be involved when she just wanted to get her damn appointments set up. Then again, it seemed like it involved hot men and their muscles. She supposed her appointments could wait. But there was no way in hell she was going to keep standing around while they did whatever they were going to be doing. Her back was already hurting. "Well, I suppose it doesn't matter," she said, starting past Todd to find a bench or chair to sit in. With all the exercise equipment, she was sure she could find somewhere to sit. She just paused briefly to reach up and hook her finger over the neck of his shirt to give it a playful tug. "If it means you're going to take that off, I'm game." She gave him a smirk as she sidled past him to go sit down.

...Huh? What was that? River had grown so accustomed to fanfare and squeals when she walked into a room with Zhi in it, she more or less expected it. It had been maybe even hours since she last saw her wife, where was the arm-clinging? She had been so distracted inappropriately greeting her boss, it took her a moment to realize what was going on, but when she did, it bothered her. It really really bothered her. Everything felt unsettled, and it was like her enthusiasm slipped off in one fell swoop. "Oh... bye Zhi," she said in an unusually small voice, at a loss for much of a reaction. She had no idea what would make her wife so quiet and withdrawn, and she looked at the other three, just in time to be introduced to the pretty white-haired woman. "Hiya, nice to meetcha," she greeted Christine with a small wave and a grin, but she still felt strange. Was it this woman? Had she said something? Had she done something? The idea of that hit River in an odd place in her stomach, and she got quiet. Like, actually quiet. This woman was just so proper, River all of a sudden felt very conscious of herself as she focused on this new, distinguished woman and Zhi's odd behavior and the men acting like monkeys (but to be fair, any other time and she would have embraced the monkey) and to be honest, she wasn't very used to contemplating things. This was a new experience for her, and she didn't even notice that the others had moved over to prepare for the muscle contest. What were muscles again?

After probably the quickest shower any of the individuals within the gym had ever heard of, Zhi had toweled herself off and looked over at the door leading into the sauna before deciding nope. She wasn't going to clean that place when she knew her beloved River was out there with two brawny men and an attractive, perfect woman who could so easily sweep her off her feet. It had taken a cold shower to clear Zhi's mind up, but she was completely resolved in defending her woman from all those home-wreckers. She had even obtained a bucket full of water to help her in this task, carrying it carefully so as not to drop anything on the nice, dry clothes she had slipped back on. She didn't think she would actually do much more than threaten the men if they got too close to River – or, well, just Xeiro because she couldn't threaten her boss or the very nice woman – but, as fate would have it, Zhi found herself tripping over her heels before she could get through the archway that lead back out to the front. Luckily, Christine had already moved out of that area to find a seat, but that didn't mean Todd, Xeiro, and, possibly, but hopefully not (she really, really hoped not), River weren't in line to be splashed by a bucket of room-temperature bucket water.

...Oh. Er.” ..That was.. Well, that was just weird because Zhi really didn't trip over her heels very often at all. She wore heels all the time! The only logical reasoning she could find for how that had happened would be she had spilled some water on her way over without realizing it and slipped, but that wasn't very important, was it? Not when she had thrown a bucketful of unwarranted water at everyone! “...River, are you okay?” She asked first after dropping the bucket, kicking it aside. Maybe the big, sweaty chimps had blocked any water from hitting her wife...?
