About: River's memories of childhood are full of love and warmth. She was her mother's firstborn, and as such, held a special place in her heart. She was an energetic child, upbeat and excited about life. She loved her younger siblings, loved her older half-brothers, and loved her parents. She was a child filled with love. Elementary school was happy. She played with friends and did fun things with her parents. Even though the arrival of the quadruplets took a lot of her mother's time, she didn't mind sharing the attention, as long as she got to spend time with her baby sisters.
When she was in middle school, things changed. The dynamics of everything changed. Puberty and hormones made everything more complicated and next thing she knew, her friends had turned against her. She was teased for her simple nature, her red hair, her young mother. Her classmates' mothers' disapproval passed through them, and soon River found herself the target of ruthless teasing and harassment. She was confused, she didn't know what to do, so she clung to the first group of people who would accept her. Unfortunately, they were... of a bad crowd. By the time River started high school, she was a full fledged gang member. She was bleaching her hair, smoking behind the bleachers, and assaulting other teenagers late at night. By the time she was sixteen she was out of control. She got in fights constantly, slept with guys and girls alike, and had let her grades slip beyond repair. She was a senior when a local gang rivalry exploded. The leader of her gang wanted out, and according to the rules of their group, River and her friends had no choice but to get revenge on the "deserter". By the time it was over, the leader was dead and the gang dissolved, and River packed away the night's events into a box deep in the back of her mind, so she wouldn't have to think of it ever again.
Somehow River managed to graduate that year. Having so many gang members was harming the school's reputation, and they just wanted her out. Rumors spread that her father had paid the district to let her graduate on time... but nothing was ever confirmed. River graduated but never did anything after that. Even if she had been able to graduate from high school, she never would have been able to get into college. She helped her mother at home caring for the quadruplets. When her parents announced they were divorcing, she decided to help Alex out, and invited herself to move in with him.
She's an incredibly cheery and energetic person, which sometimes causes her to come across as dim, but it's just because she is easily delighted. She has a curious nature that only adds to her youthful nature. She's a skilled athlete and has good reflexes and a scary amount of arm strength for a girl her size. She's rather nonchalant about most things, showing very little remorse or embarrassment, which saves her quite a bit of awkwardness in social situation. She used to bleach her naturally red hair blonde because "gingers freak her out", but upon getting married and having a child decided to let it grow naturally. After startling herself in the mirror one too many times, she returned to dying her hair blonde.
Little did she know that for years, her sister's friend, Zhi, had a crush on her. Although Zhi DID confess her feelings, River really didn't know what was going on, no matter how many couple-y things they did. And yet, the two of them got married, a fact that is still hard for her to believe, and they even had a son together, Jeremy. Despite settling down into the domestic lifestyle quite nicely, it's still rather unclear how River feels about the whole thing. Even she doesn't know. She does think the whole housewife thing is kind of exciting, and lately has been trying to be a little more feminine, after watching a bootleg The Donna Reed Show boxset she got from a suspicious Cantonese resale site.
Although she is small and cute, she's has a lot of masculine qualities. Aside from her strength and stamina, she has a frightening high tolerance for alcohol and usually drinks most people under the table. She doesn't take many things seriously, except for when it comes to her siblings and friends. She's also a Koreaboo, though that has calmed with age.

──────────────────────────────────── Zhi grew up in a little known town in China's far more rural areas, working day in and day out on a farm when he wasn't in school – ah, yes, he. For Zhi, despite current appearances, once was a pretty boy living in the country. Zhi-fu was fairly popular, dated a nice girl, and even played sports with the boys! But.. Zhi never felt right and, so, after an excessive amount of sleepless nights thinking, Zhi came to the conclusion that he wanted to be a she. Well, of course, his parents being the traditionalists they were, they abhorred the idea and kicked him out when he insisted on going through with it, leaving Zhi in the hands of his aunt and uncle in the more modern areas of China. It was there that he learned of several things with the support of his aunt – things like how there really was a surgery to 'fix' him! He just needed the money to do it – money that he started to save up on as soon as he could! But, before he could finish this goal, his uncle made the abrupt decision to move out to Nirvani Island for one reason or another. Zhi had to choose between living with his aunt or moving with his uncle.. Though, to Zhi, it was really more of a 'start over from scratch' or 'live in paranoia' choice, an obvious one that any struggling teen could make. So, it was in a hurry that Zhi packed and headed out to Nirvani Island!
Once (now) she got there, Zhi did everything she thought she had to do to recreate herself! But, unfortunately, her daydreams of popularity and ruling the school were swept under the rug as none of Zhi's attempts aided her – in fact, the most of them ended up with her as an outcast with Elliot Park, her one friend throughout high school. She didn't really mourn the loss of her dreams for long, though, as Zhi soon met Elliot's older sister, River, and found herself captivated. ..For years. Zhi crushed on River all through the rest of her teenage years, never saying anything but certainly making it very obvious that she had it for the woman. It was only through River's oblivious nature that she managed to keep it quiet for so long, long enough so she could somehow make herself worthy of the woman. After getting drunk during a wedding, Zhi took something River had said a tad too seriously and made the decision that she had to gain experience with herself as a woman before she could even think of having someone as wonderful as River. But, to have experience as a woman, Zhi needed to actually be a woman. So far, she had been spending her money on living expenses since her uncle Mao hardly helped the teenager out at all without a multitude of humiliation to accompany it. But now she was serious! Zhi waited until the end of the school year and, when she found she had flunked it, she dropped out and ran off to Japan to become a star~!
..Though, a few years later, Zhi didn't manage to the stardom she had hoped for. But, she had managed to become a fairly popular pop singer – if only for a week before the public got bored of her. Still, it was enough to give her money to finish up her operation and be known as someone worthy of River. She went straight back to Nirvani Island, bought herself an apartment, and arrived at River's doorstep within the same day. An impulsive date and, later that night, drunken confession later and the two finally began to date. They kept it up for several years and, when Zhi had a bout of nervous anxiety at River's feelings towards her, she demanded that she moved in to further cement their relationship. The woman agreed pretty easily, pleasing Zhi – for a time. Her anxieties came back up again and, next, she requested that they get married, followed soon enough by a need for them to have a baby, and, now? Zhi's been spending months trying to figure out what the next step up is. She hasn't thought of it yet, but, soon enough, she'll find something.────────────────────────────────────

About: Jeremy is the sole child of River and Zhi, an odd pairing to say the least. When he was just a fetus, River had crossed her fingers and hoped everyday that he would have pretty dark hair like Zhi's, but instead, he turned out to be a huge ginger. Damn those strong Park genes. Anyway, since he was a little boy, he's always had a bit of a confidence problem, probably because the older of his mothers looks horrified whenever he walks into the room -- if only he didn't have red hair and freckles! Because of that, he's always been a bit of a timid kid when it comes to social situations and school, and is generally socially awkward. However, he's quick to open up whenever it comes to his favorite things -- baseball and science. He dreams of one day becoming a professional baseball player, even though there's no Little League team for him to join, and he's stopped playing with River, because she throws too hard. Despite the little problems, he's a generally happy kid, and wouldn't trade his family for anything else. Now that he's grown up, he's become a bit more outgoing, but he's not without his insecurities -- he's small for his age, hasn't really seemed to hit puberty much at all, and like many late-bloomers, is kind of shy about it. He'll grow up eventually, he just doesn't know when.
