YOU WAKE UP.

You feel tired for some reason, as if for some reason you dozed off and had a really strange dream with voices, somewhat familiar ones: for those who don't sleep the sensation is still the same. You feel off, on alert. The first thing you do is look around.

Everything in your dorm room is as it should always be with one odd exception.

Something is staring at you

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Perhaps it is just a minipet, that strayed from your closet. Maybe it's another student in their natural form. For whatever reason, it doesn't strike you as too odd.

Until you spot a second one, who is hungrily taking contents of your room and shovelling it into their formless mouth, and a third one who is proceeding to do the same with the furniture occupying your room. They are systematically eating your entire dorm room. Another one pops into existence, and then another, all rising from the floor.

At this point you have two options:

Stay in the room and defeat the shadowlings

Base Shadowling: 10/10 HP
A particularly bold shadowling blinks at you. It waves its feeble claws and antennae at you.

OOC: ATTACKING

- All players can only roll 2d6 - 6 (2 6-sided dice minus 6) for the damage they do.
- Every time you roll you take 2 damage yourself from your usual HP pool.
- You CANNOT use any special effects/ Fear/ etc etc bonuses right now, you can only roll 2d6-6 regardless of what year you are in.
- When your shadowling hits 0 HP (you can attack until it hits 0 HP) you have defeated it! Continue on below

Run away!

You book it! The last thing you hear is the munching of shadowlings chowing down on contents of your room. The amount of beady yellow eyes seem to surround you just as you exit the room.

OOC

- Your room takes 30% room damage. It means when you come back to your room, it has taken damage equal to around 20% of the total room damage, rped however you would like.
- continue on below

The hallway is dark, and as you continue running, you notice more shadowlings popping up from the floors, flanking you left and right. The left and right entrances are swarming in black, teeming masses of shadowlings leaving you with only one exit: out of the dorms and into Amityville.

You have THREE options now:

gaia_crown GO TO THE STUDENT CLUBROOM:

If you would like to make your last stand at the student clubroom to ward off the shadowlings, go HERE

gaia_crown GO TO THE GYMNASIUM

If you would like to make your last stand at the gym to ward off the shadowlings, go HERE

gaia_crown GO TO THE SCHOOL GATES:

If you would like to make your last stand at the school gates to ward off the shadowlings, go HERE

[[ Entering ]]

Uru'baen jumped from his bed, ears perked high as a small shadow skittered across the floor of the room. Absolutely fascinated, he remained upright, watching it as it moved about the room. He smiled, amused by its behavior until a second entered the room and then a third. Brows furrowed as he followed their path back to the closet. Were they coming through from there? W-what is the closet have to-

IT WAS EATING HIS THINGS!

"I JUST MOVED IN!" He roared a voice so deep that it thundered. Springing from his bed with fists raised, fur bristled and teeth bare, he confronted the shadow. What were they and what were they doing? From his readings, minis did not attack people, or at least they rarely did.

He was certainly intimidating with boxers.

The hellhound lunged toward the shadowling. However, when fist connected to shadow, the creature swallowed him and spat him out through the other side. Intangibility? Was it a ghost? He had heard that they were able to do things like this, but this creature did not appear like a ghost. Shaking his fists, he glanced around the room.

The three shadows were slowly gorging themselves on his belongings. His new desk, his new sheets, his new shorts!? He had just bought those and only wore them once! It seems like fighting them wasn't an option and, at this rate, his room will be gone.

The hell hound admitted defeat as he went about the room. Gathering a pair of shorts, his scarf, gloves, and journal, keeping them on his person. This had become ridiculous.

[[ ENTERING + Running Away ]

Dreaming.

Amarus was not unfamiliar with dreams, surely? But she never remembered them, not as far as she knew. Recollecting them was hazy. And even now, she couldn't focus her attention on anything long enough to understand what was happening to her. She just fell, until she couldn't fall any further, and there were merely stairs beneath her, which she descended without really understanding why.

There was nowhere else to go, after all, was there? Three items at the end of the stairs, suspended midair, drew her attention. How could they not? Naturally, she first reached for the sword: she felt a wave of confidence, brilliant light, as it asked if the path of the warrior was what she sought.

Normally, without a doubt, but... something about the warmth and light of the sword made her think that she should not champion its cause. How could she? She was hardly one to stand in the light. She stepped away from the sword, changing her mind. Instead, she reached for the staff.

The dark power of its aura made her smile, mirror-blank eyes narrowing slightly. It was a foreign concept to want to learn more, but a very familiar need tugged inside her, a fundamental urge: to gain power, and if the staff made her believe that learning would grant her what she desired, then she would follow it until the end.

As the platform began to break, Amarus held onto the staff, and took a step backwards.

She shut her eyes, and held tight, as she fell in the darkness. No, she was not afraid.

But she did feel very alone, until she woke up, and felt nothing except a sense she'd just had a very strange dream. Looked like it was completely insignificant, then, seeing as she never remembered her dreams anyway. Insignificant, and yet somehow she couldn't shake the uneasy feeling in her gut.

She was asleep in her own dorm room, this time, not her boilfriend's, and something was peering at her. It had very yellow eyes. Amarus' immediate reaction was to pull her blankets closer as if shielding herself, and search the room for Jin, Ashbel and Crow. They were nowhere to be found, and her door was ajar. She must have left it that way?

"Who are you? Or who do you belong to?" she asked, not sure if it was a pet or a student.

One way or another, there were two of them, and they were devouring her jack-damned room, furniture and all. She loved to fight, but she also didn't know what the hell these were, and if she wanted to not dissipate she figured she'd better book it before the decided she was snack-sized. Judging by the way one had wolfed down her desk, she suspected it might consider her a valid tidbit. Besides, she didn't care about her room at all. It was usually pretty sparse to begin with.

Amarus didn't have anything worth saving to grab. She just threw her covers off and onto the shadowy things, and booked it out the door. She even shut her dorm door, as if that would help.

And, for a reason she couldn't explain, she headed for the school gates. To protect something, she supposed. To protect her only home.

Buckling the button at the top of his tail, Uru braced himself for another go at the Shadowling. It's black form simply stared back at him with beady yellow eyes. While its fellow darkness consumed the room, this one just started at him as if content with the annoyance that was coming off the demon. Arching his hand down, the shadow barely dodges the blow... if it were solid. Once again, the creature's intangibility leaves it getting away unscathed.

When Danny saw two blinking eyes, she thought they were from her minis. She had quite a few minis with yellow eyes- it wasn't an uncommon sign.

So a blank, glazed over smile graced her face, and a hand actually went out to pet the shadowling, which promptly bit her.

O n O

"THAT HURT YOU STUPID JACK-" Oh. That wasn't a mini. Oh no. Well, no time for questions! Only hitting. Hitting and kicking butt. Aw yes.

"Intangible." He muttered as he started at the little shadow. Why was it here, why was it not eating like the rest of the shadows here. Footsteps echoed down the halls. Considering the pacing, it was a run. So perhaps this was occurring everywhere else too.

Another attempt at a swing.

Efflo awoke with a start, face to face with yellow eyes glowing as brightly as his own.

“W-wh-what!?” he stammered, backing away from it. Why did this keep happening to him? He didn’t have a lot of time to ponder the unfairness of it all as he wiped the sleep from his eyes and noticed it wasn’t just a single intruder; it was an infestation.

Efflo sighed one of the heaviest sighs he could muster. Now he had two parasites to deal with. And one of them was currently chowing down on his already glowworm munched on breeches. He pulled at the waistband, tugging it away from the little grabbing shadow hands before holding them up, looking dismayed. There was no hope of going for another pair, the shadowlings were making short work of his dresser. And hey! That was his hay, you little pests! He pulled his pants on as quickly as he could and- "Dammit, that's my belt! Give it here!"

Oh well, he sighed again, bee-lining towards the door. At least the important bits were still covered. Mostly. He was going to need to have words with someone about this bug problem.

It was a strange dream to say in the last, but it wasn't the first time Shun has had rather weird dreams. There were some familiar images there, and there was something about a trial. The three items that he encountered.. he wasn't really sure what to make of them. The bladed weapon was tempting, but the power that the staff seemed to promise pulled him more.

Just as he approached it, his eye snapped open. Staring down at him was some sort of minipet. Or at least, that was what he thought. Furrowing his brow, he suddenly recoiled as it bit down at him, taking a chunk out of the blanket that had been covering him.

Cursing out sharply, he quickly went to try and punch it off of him.

The creature had jumped out of the way before he could do just that. Grimacing, he sat up and looked around, noticing that there were more of these things around, eating away at his room. It was an infestation!

Quickly, he got up and got his daggers ready.

The dark creature's form wavered as he struck at one, but there were still many more. There were almost too many for him. Almost. But, Shun was determined to keep these things from devouring his room completely. There was no way he was going to leave these things to do as they pleased in his place. Letting out a breath, he took a moment to focus.

And then, he struck out at another.

"Kusoo...." he hissed as he failed to strike his target. Perhaps he was a little groggy from the rather rude awakening. He wasn't sure. It didn't matter. Carefully, he watched the little creatures around. They were quicker than they appeared. He was going to need to try and time things and anticipate where they might head.

There.

The Reaper went on to strike, but just the tip of his dagger managed to make contact with the odd beast.

It was dawning on him that the shadow was doing something... it was hurting him each time his fist went through the shadowed form. It was enjoying itself, watching as its prey was slowly weakening itself! This mini was certainly not one he was intent on keeping in his room. Considering what the hell it is doing. Turning to the door, he was noticing more gathering with their beady yellow eyes. He had to escape, but it didn't look like this one will let him go that easily.

Shun's eye narrowed as he saw one of the shadowlings dance before him. Was it taunting him? He decided to take that as a yes, and went on to lash out at it while it was staying in place. Another small graze. This was beginning to get rather frustrating for the Reaper, but he would make these creatures pay.

He took it back. He will capture one of these as a pet and he will enjoy it's company once it has become tamed. Yes, he will enjoy it and it too will enjoy itself within his company.
