I'm sure a lot of people do, but I'm not really a huge watcher! I mean... insofar that I won't watch something simply because it's anime. To me, anime is simply a medium. Like film or photography or other forms of art. It's a medium. It isn't necessarily special in and of itself. There has to be a story that grabs me in order for me to make me want to watch.

The last anime I really watched through and through was Avatar: The Legend of Korra. And I honestly don't wanna hear any BS about how it's not anime because it's not from Japan. It's absolutely anime.

I tend to try things because they are anime... the oddest one I have watched was about boxing but it was such an interesting story that I kept on watching and actually developed a slight interest in boxing.

One of my favorite animes though is Macross Plus

I used to watch a bunch, but it seems like it's been forever since I've stumbled across an anime I've liked enough to follow. I watched the latest season of Hidamari Sketch this past fall. And I'm tentatively looking forward to Ghost in the Shell: Arise. But that's kind of it for my current anime.

But this reminds me that I really need to go catch up on the Claymore manga. I've probably fallen way behind on it by now.

I'm told that I'm obsessed with anime and manga.

I can't really argue, since I tend to pick up more titles than I have time to finish and by the time I manage to finish one, I normally have already picked up at least three more.

In any case, I'd definitely say I like it since It's one of the few things that easily amuse me nowadays. I'm pretty open with most genres though there's a limit to the blood and gore I can handle and I tend to avoid Shonen Ai/Yaoi/BL stuff, since in my opinion, the plot lines tend to be rather boring.

I'm looking for a good light hearted comedy romance! (The romance is optional)

I'm already watching Kimi Ni Todoke, Chihaya Furu and Hyouka and I am re-watching Ouran Host club (For like the 12th time, Its my guilty pleasure) and tora-dora.

SO, does anyone have any anime along these lines that might be worth a share?

@ Zero:

I'm with you on the blood and gore. I can't take too much. FMA almost breached my comfort zone a couple of times and Akira (though phenomenal) was WAAAAY outside the limits of my sex/violence tolerance.

I really don't like shonen ai/shoujo ai, yaoi/yuri, or ecchi/fanservice. Most seinen and shojo titles are uninteresting to me as well. Haha, this, along with dislike of mecha, certain types of animation and un-original plots, vastly limits the anime I can watch!

So, I guess I am not anime fan per-se, just a super fan of the anime that I like! mrgreen

I read manga and watch anime too but I'm pretty choosy with the story lines, character, art/graphics and the genre. I prefer seinen, comedy and or romance in between, mature (some blood and gore), and shounen. I really love cool action/fight scenes and clever plots oh and reverse-harem where the heroine is strong and cool like in "Dear School Gang Leader" and "Skip Beat". I also read/watch shoujo when I like the heroine and the plot.

I can't wait for more Ghost in the Shell smile

Wow everyone likes so much stuff smile its really interesting to see everyone's different tastes.

@ryruko: would never have put you down as an Oran fan smile (I like it too... tell no one emotion_kirakira lol) Everyone is shocked when I tell them I like it because I normally go with intense or strange stuff (massive studio gibly nut) but it can't be odd all the time smile I also really like fruits basket...

Wow, that really would limit one's options.

I don't think I've watched any titles that didn't fall into one of those categories at least a little.

Shonen Ai/Yaoi, as I said..I find them boring so I don't bother with them too often.

Shojo Ai/Yuri, they normally have rather cute/emotionally complex stories with them, but I don't go out of my way to find them either.

As for Ecchi/Fanservice...People normally don't believe me when I say I don't pay too much attention to that, but when someone's zoned on a screen and nine times out of ten, you're getting panty shots and the like, it's easy to see why. (though, I tend to do that with most everything I watch.)

Mechas...I'm so-so on. Some are good, some don't interest me.

I don't really understand the concept of unoriginal plots though, so I can't say much to that.

Wow, that really would limit one's options.

I know right! That's my problem! I know there are TONS of anime out there but I am beginning to think that all the anime I am going to like I have already watched or am watching.

I have seen anime with some fanservice in it, in fact most anime is not without a few "cheesecake" moments but when its ALL THE TIME, I start to get really annoyed.

Yeah, something about mecha just quite catch my interest. Broken blade is probably the only one I got past the "trial stage on." Even so, as you said in our earlier discussion, something is sorta missing from that story.
Although, I kind of like the original Macross (robotech) series for its retro hilarity/awesomeness!

Unoriginal plots, yeah sometimes that's a tough one to spot or dislike, but when I can tell you exactly what's going to happen in the series by episode two, then It's time for something different.

At least Zetsuen no Tempest is keeping me guessing!

GLJordan

Yeah, I had started reading Rosario+Vampire a while back and I thought it was kinda fun. I never really got too far into it but it seems that the plot develops much more later on. It's not an easy task to get me interested in a harem though! whee They stress me out! Hahaha

ScarletXCrossXCrusader

Yes! I too, am as picky as can be when it comes to anime. I would far prefer seinen titles for their story lines (they usually have more interesting plots) but sometimes those better plots come at the price of too much violence or other mature themes.

The most mature thing I ever read (all the way through) was Akira and I never want to go that far again, even though (all in all) I liked Akira.

Yes! What is anime with out some good action! I like most shoujo that I have tried, the problem is that I don't try them often!

By the way! Let's see what manga is trending among us! What are you favorites that you have read, are reading or want to read?
I am a huge fan or Spiral Suiri No Kizuna, XS Hybrid, Hitogatana and Zetsuen No Tempest!
