PERSONALITY
A mousy young woman, quiet and reserved. She's kind and compassionate, soft in everything she does. She doesn't like to be nosy, preferring to keep to herself, and tries to stray from engaging in gossip. She's a gentle woman, detesting violence, but with the coming war, she sometimes wonders how she will survive it, and if she should make some sort of exception. She's not a very confident woman; she's self conscious, and is almost constantly doubting herself. She loves meeting new people, but she hates to impose, afraid she might bore or bother. Very shy, she finds standing up for herself difficult, and so will either try to pretend something doesn't bother her, or she will excuse herself from the situation.
BIO
She was born into wealth, and an only child. Her parents were among the norm in upper class society; her father, a stiff, non-nonsense business man, and her mother, a submissive socialite, proper and perfect. Her parents have planned Caroline's life since pregnancy, and without the necessary backbone to refuse, the young woman has followed along with her parent's every wish and whim. Caroline's life has been centered around one thing; to be as marriageable as possible. It was her governess's job to shape young Caroline into a docile, fashionable young woman ready to play by society's rules. She read plays by Shakespeare and learned to play the piano. She learned the social graces that are so important for a girl of her class: decorum at balls, what is considered fashionable, etc. And she was taught to have impeccable morals and manners; important for coherent conversations with potential suitors and other important aristocrats.
Recently, Caroline's father was met with a proposal; a marriage proposal, to Caroline. The suitor; a young aristocrat, spoiled and pampered. But more importantly, rich, and that was all that mattered. Her mother was especially delighted, but Caroline is far from enthused. She understands that arranged, business driven marriages are among the norm, especially for the wealthy, but she has no desire to marry a man she knows little about.
Rather, her heart longs for freedom. The freedom to love, the freedom to choose. She longs for the sort of romance that lingers in the pages of her books, the sort of romance that makes ones heart ache and soar. But it doesn't stop at love. She yearns for strength, and courage. Beaten down and molded all her life, Caroline finds it difficult to speak for herself, to stand up for the things she wants and believes in. She dreams of a life to call her own, rather than to live the way society dictates she must.

Reserved and proper, with a strong sense of morals. She is confident, where her chosen is not, and often acts as more of a supportive guide than a close friend. Her expressions are limited, and she finds little interest in anything that does not pertain to Caroline. She does not trust easily, and is often wary about everyone and everything, constantly fearing for her delicate chosen. She is never found far from Caroline, and protects the young woman fiercely.

Caroline's father. He has a commanding presence, and is a man of few words. He is reserved, fair, and a firm believer in the Old Ways. He respects the chosen and their guardians, and with the coming war, often fears for his daughters safety.
• Lauralie Atwood
Caroline's mother. Shrill and snobbish, she has a tenancy to gossip, and lives for social affairs. She is obsessed with perfecting her only daughter, and marrying her off to a rich man. She is disgusted that her daughter was chosen, but tolerates it.
• Lawrence Bickerton
Caroline's fiance. Tall, pale, deep black hair, bright blue eyes, hawkish features. Handsome, if not for his permanent sneer and air of arrogance. He's entitled, condescending, and views all guardians as 'beasts'; their chosen no better. He barks loud and tough, but is truly a coward.
Caroline
• Thorne Grey
Despite their short time of knowing one another, Caroline feels strongly for him. With him, she doesn't feel the need to put up a front or adhere to social rules; she can be herself. He's kind and gentle, and she cares for him dearly.
• Rob Tiller
Caroline is unsure on her feelings for Rob. She felt something, for a short time, but she feels he only associates with her out of some sense of obligation to 'help' her. This upsets her, so she has kept her distance.
• Soibhan Breanainn
Caroline is fairly certain Soibhan hates her, but she doesn't know why. She doesn't recall having done anything offensive to the woman. Soibhan intimidates Caroline, and sometimes, infuriates her. Were they not 'rivals' of sorts, Caroline might actually look up to and respect the wild woman.
Elowen
• Valerian
Valerian both amuses and annoys Elowen. She views him as immature, but she can't say she necessarily dislikes the bucks company. It really depends on her mood.
