---- chosen
name rob tiller. age 18 [born 1780]. chosen age n/a. gender male. occupation sailor. hometown palisade.
height 6'2". weight 180 lb. physical attributes thick, dark blonde hair, almost brown; long, wild, bound in a ponytail | clean-shaven | gray eyes, dark; rounded almond oval face; sharp jaw and pointed chin | thin, flat eyebrows | high, straight nose broad shoulders; muscled | wide, toothy grin (when he does grin) | naturally darker, tanned skin | closely resembles edgar ashworth
Like his brother, Rob was raised into the sailor's world. He was given little choice in the matter, mostly tagging along after his elder brother as Ollie dove in with (characteristically) reckless abandon. Although he was not as well-known at the docks as a child, he shadowed his more outgoing brother in almost all of Ollie's endeavors.
When they were old enough to be cabin boys, the two were brought aboard on occasional voyages until it became routine. Eventually both grew into their expected roles as part of the crew. They spent the next years sailing with their father, the chief mate aboard the Amaranta.
Although their father did not share their enthusiasm, both boys were devoted to their mother and made point of surprising her at home whenever the ship docked in Palisade.
Rob is reaching physical maturity and starting to throw himself into the long climb to the top of the ship's hierarchy. He grows increasingly frustrated as he attempts to cope with Ollie's complete lack of ambition.
While Rob shares his brother's lack of material possessions, he is devoted to the Amaranta. The ship is his life and he pours everything into it. The perfectionist in him demands results, and he is determined to ascend the ranks. The captaincy will be his one day.
Rob is a quieter soul, more prone to brooding than he is to brawling. Everything he does carries an air of deliberation and he is possessed of that special, somewhat intimidating something that makes people fall in line and obey when he commands. Duty and responsibility sit well with him, and he has broad enough shoulders, both literally and figuratively, to carry the burden.
The epitome of an honest, upstanding (future) captain, Rob tolerates nonsense from few and often has trouble letting go. Any stress he incurs is channeled into his work. He can often be found silently rigging masts or loading the hold with unbreakable concentration, and is mentally never far from the ship, no matter where he is. As a result, he is more reserved in his interactions with people, though he does not realize it, and it takes someone who knows him well to understand his rare gestures of affection.

---- guardian
[ totem uc ] [ adult uc unmasked ]
[ basics ] name tod. gender buck.
[ appearance ] height 15.1 hh. physical attributes burly, muscular, built for work.
[ family ] parents n/a. siblings n/a.
[ history ]
While Rob understood that Tod is not a personality to be indulged, the rest of the Amaranta's crew, convinced that he would be exactly like Taxes, allowed him to get away with being pushy and demanding, laughing it off as the antics of a baby. The inconsistency of his upbringing, wherein he received strict discipline from his Chosen and indulgence from everyone else, created a selectively demanding creature whose only real obedience is to Rob.
[ personality ]
A physically intimidating Guardian, Tod has all the ambition to be a brilliant leader and none of the affinity for it. Feeding on his Chosen's demeanor, Tod has a penchant for trying to impose his will on others, but where Rob's quiet authority earns him obedience, Tod's louder, more vocal approach and corresponding lack of sensible judgment have a habit of seeming less respectable than comical. As a leader, he is mostly bark and very little bite, which often elicits veiled smiles of amusement toward his "antics," which he either fails to perceive or simply does not understand and ignores. Indeed, Tod's very being seems much more suitable to being the workhorse type, thanks to his powerful build and adamant desire to throw himself into whatever he is doing and give it his all, no matter the cost. A job well done to Tod often involves draining himself to physical exhaustion, which is a joy he makes no attempt to hide. Despite his continued attempts to rise in status, his mind is well-wired for work and for receiving dependable instruction, and most around him have simply learned to work around his ego.
[ dreaming ]
Tod is an upstart young challenger to Dardanos' small herd, convinced that his sheer will and brawn will land him in the position of Don one day. He is marginally tolerated only because he has yet to make any real advances on the position and because Dardanos is well aware that his efforts will be easily rebuffed when they come.
