Timid | Curious | Modest
Oisin is very timid, tending to hide behind his guardian when people approach him. He is easily startled by loud noises and sudden appearances and clings to those he already knows when in public. While he's a bit shy, if approached calmly and slowly and talked to, Oisin will often come out of his hiding spot to meet this nice new person. He'll remain a bit reserved until he fully warms up to this person, but as long as nothing startles him, he'll quickly warm up and begin to talk more and more. If he upsets someone, which would most likely be unintentional for this timid boy, he'll apologize over and over, often much more than needed.
While timid and a bit wary, Oisin does like to play with other kids. He just doesn't insert himself into their play and tends to hang out on the sidelines, hoping to be asked to play but afraid to ask. If he's not asked, he's still content to watch and see what the other kids are doing, which he might reenact with his own toys later.
For all his shyness, Oisin is a very curious individual. While some curiousity is healthy, Oisin almost takes this too far. He hates secrets, wanting to know everything that is going on! He might just sneak up on whisperers to find out what they're talking about. Not out of spiteness or rudeness, but merely curiousity. His favorite question is "Why?" which tends to start driving his guardian up the wall after a while, but he just wants to know. Why is the sky blue? Why does it rain? Why can't he go outside right now? Why must he go to bed??
Modest to the core, Oisin prefers not to take credit for things he does. He likes to help people, but feels that he shouldn't be praised for doing something that everyone should do. That family who can't afford much food? Oisin will leave a basket of food on their doorstep for them to find. He prefers to help behind the scenes, but that wouldn't stop him from helping that lady who fell and needs help getting up again. He'll just wave off any offers of reward or praise and often disappears soon after helping before such things can be forced upon him. If he doesn't manage to get away or dissuade someone from giving him something, he'll turn around and give it to someone who needs it. Some pocket change? He'll either give it to a beggar or buy them some fresh bread.
If someone tried to pick a fight with Oisin, he'd try to get away if at all possible. If running away is not an option, he would fight back, but only long enough to get away. His favorite technique is a quick jab to the nose, which usually leaves a person teary eyed long enough for him to scamper off.
Oisin likes the outdoors, but prefers wooded areas over open fields. He can often be found tucked behind a tree, his nose in a book. He loves animals and could spend his day watching them.

Deer in headlights - When caught in a sudden bright light in the dark or semi-dark, Oisin freezes up and doesn't move.

Gender: Female
Description: Niki is a woman of average height. She is fairly slender, though not too thin. Her dark blue, almost black hair is kept at just past shoulder length and typically pulled back into twin low pigtails. Her blue eyes shine from her fair complexion. She would probably tan if she would bother to go outside more often. She usually wears baggy, loose pants and an oversized shirt, usually with sandals as well. In colder weather, she wears knitted hats, gloves, scarves, and shawls that she made. These tend to vary in appearance since she just grabs whatever one is close by when heading outside.
Personality: Nikiana is a rather quiet person. She tends to speak less around those she doesn't know and is uncomfortable among large crowds of unfamiliar people. She really dislikes forced socialization and would much rather approach someone at her own leisure. However, once you get to know her, sometimes it's hard to get her to shut up. She's polite and almost always has a smile on her face as well as kind-hearted and always willing to help out. Niki puts her whole heart into pretty much everything. While this could be considered a strength, it often leaves her open to be hurt. A people-pleaser... going to the extreme of doing something she wouldn't normally like to do just to make them happy. She can be fairly stubborn.
History: Niki was born to a fisherman and his wife. She grew up an only child, prefering to help at home repairing nets and helping around the house in general rather than hanging out with her peers. She had a few friends growing up, though she had no interest in town gossip and as her friends grew older, they drifted apart. When Niki was a teenager and ready to apprentice to the local weaver, her parents had another child, a little boy they named Manson. Niki was not overly thrilled about this. A little brother was a bother and a pest, knotting her yarn and pulling out what knitting she was working on.
Niki was relieved to soon leave home to study weaving, expanding upon her love of knitting and her experience in net mending. She still prefers knitting over the loom and makes gloves and hats for the fishermen and sailors or shawls and more decorative gloves for the town's women.

White Stag Antler
The white stag is a red deer with a condition known as leucism that causes its hair and skin to lose its natural color (but the eyes are unaffected). The white stag has played a prominent role in many cultures' mythology.
White deer hold a place in the mythology of many cultures. The Celtic people considered them to be messengers from the otherworld; it also played an important role in other pre-Indo-European cultures, especially in the north. The Celts believed that the white stag would appear when one was transgressing a taboo, such as when Pwyll trespassed into Arawn's hunting grounds. Arthurian legend states that the creature has a perennial ability to evade capture; and that the pursuit of the animal represents mankind's spiritual quest. It also signaled that the time was nigh for the knights of the kingdom to pursue a quest.
In Christianity, the white stag was partly responsible for the conversion of the martyr Saint Eustace. Eustace saw a vision of Christ between the stag's antlers and was told that he would suffer for Christ.
Today, the Hungarian branch of Scouts uses the white stag as a symbol. The white stag is also prevalent in Hungarian mythology; it was believed that a white stag led the brothers Hunor and Magor to Scythia, an action which preceded the formation of the Hun and Magyar people. The White Stag Leadership Development Program bases much of its spirit and traditions on the white stag of Hungarian mythology.

Niki's home sits outside of a village along the coast between Siren's Shore and Dragon's Peak. The small home is about fifteen to twenty minute bike ride from the village and set on the top of a small hill. Snug and cozy, the cottage is quite welcoming. A small herd of sheep graze in the area surrounding the home while a dog lays in the shade and thumps his tail in greeting.
Inside, the cottage is mostly one large room. Entering, you see a fireplace takes up most of the right wall, with a few cozy chairs set nearby and a spinning wheel in the front right corner. A large loom takes up a large chunk of the other side. A small table is stuck off in the back right corner with a wooden chair set at it, but the table is covered mostly in various knitting projects and odds and ends and looks as if it hasn't been used in some time.
Near the table is a small stove. Moving on towards the left side of the room, there is the back door, then along the left wall, two more doors leading off to small rooms. One is Niki's bedroom with a small cot set up and the rest of the room cluttered with clothing. A bathroom connects her room to the other, which is filled with fleeces, carded wool, dyeing supplies, and balls of yarn.
