 Maergrethe flounced out of the castle, her long locks bouncing on her shoulders as she made her way across the lawn. It smelled lovely outside! She paused to take a deep breathe of air. It smelled like grass, flowers and sunshine. She let out a happy sigh as she continued on her way.
Suddenly out of nowhere, a flying frisbee came straight at her. She somehow managed to catch it before it hit her in the face. "LEO!" She bellowed when she saw her brother's blond hair coming towards her with an apologetic look on his face. "You need to watch where you're throwing your toys!" She berated him as he reached out for his frisbee.
"Next time I'll be confiscating it." She warned and handed it to him with a disgruntled look on her face.
So much for going for a walk on the lawn, it appeared that he and his friends were playing a lively game of frisbee. She shook her head, her locks bouncing from side to side and rolled her eyes. Then she looked around for a safe spot to sit down out of the way of the game.
She spotted a shady spot under a nearby tree and noticed there was already a white haired girl sitting under it. She shrugged and sat down next to her. "You don't mind if I join you do you?"

Destiny blinked as a girl almost got hit by a flying frisbee, she shook her head, as she watched a boy appear to take it from her. Being outside was dangerous especially when boys were playing. She was so relieved she had no siblings attending, or she would be in the same situation. She took a breath it and blew it out loving the smell of flowers.
She then shook her head as the same girl who almost got hit settled down beside her "nope, not at all" she answered with a smile. It was always nice to have company when she was enjoying the fresh air. She brushed a stray strand of her hair from her face. Before setting her book down in her lap and extending out her hand "My name is Destiny, and you are?" she asked politely.

Maer smiled back at the hufflepuff girl and leaned forward slightly to get a glance at the girl's book. "Oh, what are you reading?" She asked, interest sparked in her eyes.
She took the offered hand in her own finely manicured hand and shook it. Destiny sure could use a nice manicure, her hands had seen better days, Maer thought to herself. She wondered if Destiny would be interested in getting one or if she'd be offended if she asked. The only way she'd find out is if she actually asked.
"Nice to meet you Destiny. I'm Maergrethe, but you can call me Maer if you'd like. I know it might sound strange, but how would you feel about getting a manicure?"

Destiny politely nodded "nice to meet you Maer" she said with a light smile. She thought for a moment then glanced down at her book "nothing particular..to be honest..." she answered.
She took another moment to think on her answer "well..I wouldn't mind getting one, but really it would be strange going by myself and it wouldn't be fun" she said thinking about it, her sister went to get manicures with her friends but presently Destiny hadn't made any friends just yet, so she would have to save those kind of things when she did get friends.

Maergrethe was pleasantly surprised to find the Hufflepuff girl so friendly, then again the Hufflepuff House was known for being friendly and loyal. So she figured most of them were probably like that. "Oh, I was just wondering." She replied with a small smile.
Maer was actually trying to find something new to read, as she had already finished her last book and was finding it hard to pick something new out. "Do you have anything particular that you enjoy reading? I'm trying to pick something new to read, for fun that is. What would you suggest?"
Maergrethe wasn't surprised by the other girl's answer. It was much more fun to have someone to go with than to go by yourself. Maer was having trouble finding someone to go with as she really hadn't made any friends at the school yet. She had been focusing most of her attention on her studies and keeping her grades up. She was definitely due for some "beautification" time soon.
"Well..I have a kit in my room that we could use if you're interested. If we were allowed to go to Hogsmeade like the third years we could get someone to do it. Too bad we have to wait a two whole years to do that though." She murmured a bit annoyed by that rule.

Destiny nodded her head "ah..I see..well..it depends on what genre you like to read and well personal preference" she answered nodding her head.
It took Destiny a few seconds to think on it "well..i've read a lot of books in life time so far..aside from my school texts and what not. But really it depends on what genre you like." she said before continuing "I personally prefer novels that draw the reader in. I would suggest finding out what genre you like then go from there" she told her.
Destiny pondered over it for a second before shrugging it off "Sounds like a good idea" she told her. She was relieved that it was summer time so she would have to indulge herself when it came to it, but for the time being she was focused on making some friends first and meeting fellow students and house mates.

Maer nodded in agreement. "I know, I rather like all genres. though I suppose I like romance a bit more than anything else." She replied.
"I was mainly asking to see if you could recommend something I hadn't read yet." She admitted glancing once more at Destiny's open book. What was she reading? The few words that she had seen made her think it was a mystery book of some sort.
"Great!" Maer said enthusiastically and got to her feet. "shall we reconvene to one of the girl's bathrooms were we'll have more private space to do it and not make a mess?"
Maer was a bit miffed that her brothers and she had been left at the school for the first month of summer. She had been looking forward to going home and spending time with her youngest brother Casius and had been disappointed when her parents had written to tell them that they'd have to spend part of the summer there. She figured it was because her parents wanted to give Casius a special vacation or something like that.

Destiny nodded her head "Romance..hmm" she said as she took a moment to go through her mental reading list "Can't say I've read any romance novels" she admitted.
She put her bookmark in place and closed her book and put it in her bag, before looking at her "ahh..that would make sense..." she put in. Before she brushed a strand of her hair away.
She jumped to her feet and stretched her cramped muscles from sitting for a extended period of time. "Sure, that sounds like a good idea" she said before she blinked and looked at the other "though I suggest we make a run for it as to avoid getting hit in the head by a toy" she said.

Maergrethe wasn't surprised by Destiny's response. Most kids didn't really read romance, Maer had only started after finding one of her mother's books left out in the living room when she had been seven. That's when she first realized she had a knack for reading.
Maergrethe watched as Destiny put away her book, making sure to mark her spot. Seeing that Destiny wasn't going to tell her what she had been reading, Maer sighed and got to her feet, smoothing out her skirt and getting off any grass off of the back of it.
At least she hadn't been sitting so long that she needed to stretch like Destiny was. She turned her gaze back on the grounds to keep an eye out for any stray frisbees that might come their way. "Great!" She said happy to hear that the other girl didn't mind her working on her hands. "Yeah that might be smart. Those things hurt when they hit you." She added with a slight shudder.
"Come on," She said, grabbing the other girl by the hand. "Let's get going!" Maer skipped off dragging the other girl behind her.

"though If I do find a a good romance novel, I'll be sure to tell you" she said nodding her head. She was more into mystery and sci-fi novels, but she was afraid to admit that to anyone she hadn't known for that long. She dusted off her skirt.
Destiny nodded her head agreeing, making a run for it was a good way to go at the current time. She held onto the strap of her bag with one hand as Maer grabbed her other "okay" she said as she stumbled behind Maer a bit before gathering her footing and keeping up with her.

"Excellent! That would be very much appreciated." Maer replied with a s mile.
Maergrethe was a bit surprised and startled by Destiny's stumbling. She rubbed her arm where it had been jerked and waited for a moment for Destiny to gather her footing. "Sorry, I shouldn't go so fast." She said in an apologetic manner.
She slowed her pace, and the two of them slowly made their way up the stone steps and into the side hallway of the school. Maer could feel the stares that the other kids were shooting her way and glared back at them, daring them to comment on her holding the other girl's hand. Why couldn't two friends hold hands? It wasn't that odd!
Maer was relieved when they finally got to the girl's bathroom and pushed the door open holding it open for Destiny. "After you, Madam." She said with a slight bow.

Destiny shook her head "its quite alright" she put in before she followed Maer into the school and towards the girls bathroom. She blinked as the rest of the students were staring at them since Maer was holding her hand. It wasn't that odd was it? she shook her head at the other students deciding not to let it bother that much.
After a bit of walking through the hallway with kids staring at them they reached the bathroom and she walked into it before looking around at her surroundings, she didn't use the bathroom very much for just leisure stuff..she used it for well business. She shook her head to get the thought out of her mind
