not sure if it's my place to speak here, but I might as well give pointers.
the best way to start RPing is to work with a subject you like. there's thousands (actually, about 20,000 ish) Role Plays on Gaia guilds alone, and an infinite many online, as a whole. you name the subject, and an RP usually exists for it.
most guilds are what we call 'semi lit', or needing of a slight bit of 'substance' when you play. however, if you're just starting out, the best thing to do is to get used to the speed of things.
I would reccomend the
Inn Of Peace guild for that. back when my brother was living, he would be on it constantly.
reading his posts, I learned how fast paced it could be. truthfully, most guilds are not nearly as fast paced, but they are also usually slightly more literate. the people at the IOP seem to be a bit more laid back, so I think they can live with people a bit new to RPing, even if it means you post slow at first. when you are in a slightly fast RP, you get used to getting your words down faster, and hence, writing more per minute.
also, it's wize to admit that they also don't go anywhere with their RP. so don't expect to put much plot into it. in fact, this is the exact reason it's so good for a starter RP, because this guild is mainly about interaction amonst people, building up your personal community, if you will. Also, it helps you get used to the strangeness of other characters. er... one last thing. the main users generally also have more than one character. color denotes the different ones, I've found.
