If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

#a5b6bf

Skills: Falconry
Interests: Animals | Knife-throwing | Cards | Drinking

Food Preferences: Anything his birds have caught for him.

Overview:
Trinian Hawkins is very traditional in his mindset. He has always been told to work hard to gain success. So he strives hard to make his family, his father especially, proud. He cares a lot about his family, his friends and his animal charges; however, he is somewhat self-absorbed and more concerned about working hard in order to appear successful, than about the people/creatures he is working for. Most of the time he can be found working extremely hard in the mews, but every night he's at the tavern, drinking with his friends.

Trinian has quite a few friends but he's not very close to any of them. He hangs out with them every night but it appears that he is more there to enjoy the company, than to form any type of bond with another person. Same with the birds he keeps. He never names them and avoids feeling any individual attachment to them. As a whole group he loves the animals and enjoys spending time with them, but he does not single out individual birds to try and bond with. It seems that he enjoys their companionship more than those of other people though. Very distant, it is no surprise that Trinian also doesn't believe in true love. Growing up watching his parent's loveless marriage, he has come to think of women as just status symbols and little else. He totally believes they are possessions, like chairs, and as such, treats them as furniture. The social inequalities that women experience are no concern for him and he has come to expect them. Seeing a women behave of her own will would probably be very shocking to him.

When Trinian isn't busy running around caring for his charges or out drinking with his friends, he falls into a self-critical state. His self-loathing, which only emerges when he's alone, makes him question himself, and his actions. Most likely a product of the accidental death of his younger cousin, he is always trying to do things properly and be successful in order to redeem himself in the eyes of his family. However, Trinian can no longer distinguish how successful and hard-working he really is. He also blames himself for the death of Terence (cousin) and although he doesn't admit it, it weighs heavily on him. He can't forgive himself for causing the loss of life and for breaking up the family. Many nights he can't sleep and that's usually why he goes to get drunk before heading home for the night. It keeps the nightmares at bay.

Trinian has always focused on birds and animals throughout his young life, somewhat blinding him to the happenings of the world around him. He has no notion of the the Wardwood or old ways, shrugging them off as children's tales, and he doesn't notice the small advancements in technology that keep popping up. He is actually quite blind to anything that doesn't fall into his own little world of alcohol and birds.

That is until he met Pehr. A street urchin, on the edge of death. After reviving the boy, Trini keeps an eye on the boy. Giving him and his doe a place to sleep and food to eat. For once, Trini is interested in something other than himself.

Appearance

Hair Color: Black.
Hair Length: Shortish. 3 - 4 inches long. It doesn't reach down as far as his eyes and is somewhat messy in appearance. It's not overly curly nor is it stick straight, but a combination of the two. It has a bit of volume and a few curls but for the most part Trini can keep it out of the way.
Facial Hair: Clean shaven or stubbly. He tries to shave everyday but sometimes he's too busy.
Eye Color: Light
Steel-Blue.
Skin Tone: Tanned, olive skin tone all year round.
Height: 5'9
Weight: 150lbs
Facial Features: Oval with slight angularity. Not overly masculine or overly feminine in appearance. He has an aquiline nose, that fits his profile well, neither to large nor too small.
Body Shape: Lean but well muscled. He's not stick thin, but carries a healthy amount of weight and muscle. He has a lot of upper body strength from having to carry around the birds.
Posture: Good. Trinian mostly walks tall, straight backed from having to be a perch for birds at times. He's not concerned with posture or manners at the table since he is not high nobility.
Fashion: Trinian wears a loose fitting peasant shirt, over which he has a brown traditional waistcoat. On top of the waistcoat he wears his shoulder guard and above that he wears a normal brown coat which does not reach his knees in length. All of the fabrics are of average quality and are in muted brown colors. His pants are standard fair which he tucks into his rather worn, high quality, black boots.

Important Belongings

Creatures: An unnamed female Northern Goshawk. Perhaps he may name it later on?
Weapons: Pocket knife which he uses for knife throwing. It's weighted towards the blade.
Other: A left shoulder guard he wears under his coat but above his waistcoat. It fits from his neck to the end of his deltoid muscle and down over his pectoral muscle. He also has a Left handed gauntlet and a bag that he wears across his body. The strap is worn so that it diagonally crosses the body, with the bag hanging on his left hip. He keeps all his essentials for everyday use and his birds in it.

History

Hawkins Family History:
The family line has been mews-keepers for the Earl's family for some 5 generations. The first born male of the family has always been given the title of Mews-keeper at the largest mews the Earl owns. It is just recently that the Earl bought a new residence in Palisade so the Hawkins family is still located in Bluesbrent, except for Trinian. The position as mews-keeper is still a respected position in society, however, falconry is now considered a fashionable sport and no longer used as it had been in the past. The number of birds (just like the number of horses or the number of hunting hounds) a wealthy nobleman owned indicated their financial rank, and as such, the birds themselves were still valuable to the nobility. The mews-keeper is no longer the third seat at the table, ranking down with the stablemaster, somewhere below house guest but above common workers and housekeepers.

Marital Status: Single
Homeland: Bluesbrent Hills (Equivalent of a town in Italy. It is common for the people to have blue and green eye colors with dark hair)
Employment: A Falconer and the Avian Mews-keeper for the Earl of Bluesbrent Hills. The mews that Trinian cares for is just one of three that the Earl owns. It is the only one of the Earl's mews located in the city of Palisade.

Personal History:
Trinian had a pretty standard life up until the age of seven. As a child he was a true explorer, filled with endless curiosity. He was born and raised in Bluesbrent Hills, giving him access to explore the woodlands that the Earl owned. Early on, Wyatt, his father, started training Trinian on how to handle and keep birds. More oft then naught Trinian was in the stable or the mews, learning about the creatures there. He was even taught how to ride horses, in order to help out the stablemaster with exercising/harnessing them. At this time, Trinian was a very outgoing fellow, always underfoot and trying to glean as much knowledge as he could from the animal keepers.

At the age of 7, tragedy struck. While Trinian was trying to teach his cousin Terence (5 years old) how to properly mount a mare, Terence accidentally kneed the mare in the side. Spooked, it shied away and unbalanced Terence. He fell and hit his head on the ground. It was a fatal blow that killed him on impact.

With Terence's death, life changed dramatically for Trinian. The family broke apart when Terence's parents, Kaylyn and Winfred, blamed Trinian for their sons death. They refused to talk to the Hawkins at all, after the original fight where they accused Trinian of murder. They then moved from their home, which was located next to the Hawkins originally, to a cottage at the edge of town. Nolene, Trinian's only grandmother, left with them, not because she believed Trinian was a murderer, but in order to support Winfred and his wife in their time of need.

Trinian's personality was also altered from the incident. The cheery, bright eyed boy was gone. He became mute for a good half a year, and his night's were plagued with haunting dreams that made him too scared to sleep. Marylynne fretted tirelessly over him and Wyatt was quick to anger over Trinian's lifelessness. Wyatt eventually had enough and couldn't bear seeing his son so shut down, especially when he didn't believe Trinian had killed Terence. Wyatt took the boy back to the Mews and got him to shadow throughout the day, everyday, for a good year. A routine formed and soon Trinian seemed to be aware of his surroundings once again. Trinian's former interest in birds was rekindled and he was once again an asset to his father. The approval that Trinian got from helping out his father soon became his lifeline, the core to his existence.

The next 14 years of Trinian's life fell into the same routine of caring for the birds. Tinian never rode, or even approached, horses again, but he did learn a few new skills such as holding his alcohol and knife-throwing. When he was 19, he spent a year with his sister and her husband learning about trading, fabrics and spices. It was the year after, when the Earl asked Trinian to be Mews-Keeper in Palisade and Wyatt retired his position in Bluesbrent Hills.

Family:
Located in Bluesbrent Hills

Father
Name: Mr. Wyatt Hawkins
Age: 56

The head of the family. He was the mews-keeper for the Earl of Bluesbrent Hills before passing his duties on to Trinian. He was passed the position from his father, and so on and so forth. He is now retired in Bluesbrent Hills and is in the process of marrying off his second daughter. He married his wife Marylynne in order to produce children and please his father. Although he does not hate Marylynne, he does not and never has, loved her. The two have a somewhat standoffish relationship and are only seen together when they need to to keep up their public appearance. In fact, unbeknownst to his family, Wyatt has a male lover named Edward Jones, who he has been completely devoted to for the past 20 years. Wyatt is stern with his family, and (hypocritically) expects them to behave appropriately; however, he is not a cold man. He enjoys telling stories by firelight and playing with Thomas and Mayme as much as any father/grandfather would. Although he knows Thomas is not his son, he cares as much about the child as if he was his own child. He doesn't mind that the child is illegitimate mainly because it lessens any suspicions that he might have a lover.

Mother
Name: Mrs. Marylynne Hawkins
Age: 49

The third daughter of a mid-class merchant, Marylynne loves playing the part of a homemaker. She's always trying to spruce up the house in order to get it fit for company, since she entertains often. She cares deeply about the family and is a bit of a busy-body in her children's lives, always trying to intervene with suggestions about prospective marriage candidates. Marylynne is very traditional in thought, thinking of herself as a proper lady should. She's apt at blending into the background when required and keeping the house in proper order as she should. She does not know about Edward Jones, but she doesn't spend that much time with her husband anyway, since she doesn't like Wyatt that much. The only aspect that is not traditional about Marylynne is that she, like her husband, has transgressions with other men outside of her marriage. This lead to the birth of her illegitimate son Thomas. Wyatt knows that Thomas is not his son but he keeps up the facade that he is, and this disturbs Marylynne quite a bit. She can't figure out why he has not accused her of infidelity and kicked her out of the house. She keeps Thomas close-by in order to keep a careful eye on the young boy just in case Wyatt decides to get rid of him.

First-born Sister
Name: Mrs. Tiffany Wielder
Age: 27

A very quiet and frail women. She is extremely pretty and very soft of speech. Often compared to a delicate flower, she had hordes of suitors in her 20's. She eventually picked, and fell in love with, her husband Harvey. They have an extremely affectionate relationship. When they're together they light up the room and create such a pleasant atmosphere that guests always want to come visit again. She loves her little daughter Mayme dearly, and makes a wonderful mother.

Brother in law
Name: Mr. Harvey Wielder
Age: 32

Originally his family line was made up of swordsmasters but as time passed and the need for them decreased, the Wielders became merchants. Harvey is the owner of a very wealthy spice and fabric shop that imports from far outside of the Sunderland and Bluesbrent Hills. A boisterous and happy gentleman, he is the perfect fit for Tiffany's serene demeanor. He doesn't travel with the caravans anymore, so he manages to spend a good portion of his time with the family.

Niece
Name: Miss Mayme Wielder
Age: 3

A cutie. She's still in that bubbly stage.

Second-born Sister
Name: Ms. Tessa Hawkins
Age: 25

Tessa is the odd one out in the family. She likes to seclude herself in Wyatt's library and read for hours on end. Her interests include arithmetic and architecture. She is not interested in the suitors her mother and father keep forcing on her. In fact, she's not interested in much besides being a library hermit.

Fourth-born Brother (the Illegitimate son)
Name: Mr. Thomas Hawkins
Age: 8

The illegitimate son of Marylynne and one of her lovers (though he takes after his mother in appearance), he is several years younger than the rest of his family. Spoiled rotten by all the affection he gets from his mother and older siblings, he doesn't care much about doing anything but doing what children his age do; playing make-believe and listening to stories. Very imaginative, he may not end up as a mew-keeper like Trinian since he doesn't seem particularly interested in it. Wyatt does not seem interested in disciplining him as much as he did Trinian, perhaps because he already has a son to carry on his expectations.

Maternal Uncle
Name: Mr. Winfred Mercer
Age: 54

The brother of Marylynne. After the death of his son he stopped talking to his sister's family despite their attempts to reconnect. He's a silk merchant.

Maternal Aunt
Name: Mrs. Kaylyn Mercer
Age: 48

The wife of Winfred. Kaylyn fell into despair after the death of her son. For years she wouldn't leave the house, and although she is slowly recovering from her sorrow, she hates Trinian and the Hawkins family. There is no chance of her having another child since she was pronounced barren after her childbirth with Terence.

Maternal Cousin
Name: Mr. Terence Mercer
Age: Deceased

Terence died at the age of 5. He was Trinian's younger cousin by 2 years. He passed away when playing with Trinian in the stable when he fell off of a horse and fatally hit his head. This was a turning point in Trinian's life as he felt responsible for the death. Terence's parents still blame Trinian for the accident and don't visit the Hawkins family at all.

Maternal Grandmother
Name: Mrs. Nolene Mercer
Age: 78

Nolene is very old but is still aware of her surroundings. She lives with Winfred and Kaylyn, and has been mostly caring for Kaylyn for the past 16 years. She doesn't blame the Hawkins for Terence's death so she goes to visit them when she gets the chance. She has lived a long time and is full of knowledge, especially about trading, which is one of the reasons she stays with Winfred. She helps out with the business and is still a successful and willy merchant.

Deceased:
• Paternal Aunts x2 | Maternal Aunt | Paternal Uncles x2 | Paternal Grandfather | Paternal Grandmother | Maternal Grandfather
