Ok, so we all know how carried away people can get while roleplaying, which makes it harder for those who cannot be on at every waking moment of the day to keep up. So I propose post limits for each character to help keep this in check and keep everyone engaged. For example, if the posting limit is 3, then each character is allowed to post in the roleplay 3 times each day.

This is for the main rp of course. Whatever you all do for the side rps is entirely up to you.

Should there be a posting limit? And if so, how many posts a day?

Hmmm....

Post limit couldnt hurt I guess.
Granted, for those that are on less than every one else, they are still going to be behind no matter what. This would just limit shorten it a bit.

Only real problem I see is if someone uses their first two posts to wrap something up with one person, then goes off on their own for the third... and then someone else tries to get involved with them..... cause then that new person would have to wait a whole day to get any form of reply/do something.

Yes, but at least they wouldn't have 23456 pages to go through just to catch up. As of right now we have 34 characters. Each page holds 15 posts. If every character accounted for posts even twice each day, that's about 4 and a half pages. However, if only a couple people spend time online for an hour constantly posting, it would be easy to lose others.

I can see your point with that second part, but with as many characters as we have, I doubt everything will split off 1 on 1 like that. That means someone will be posting to make up for that day. ....Does that make sense? =o

Yea, I guess that makes sense.

Awesome. That was a good point! Thanks for your input. ^_^

I really like this idea, and it makes us people with more than one account more likely to get all the characters in if we want to post a bit more since each character would get 2-3 posts right?

Yeah, there are definitely two sides to this entire thing.

On one hand, it miiight make it difficult to roleplay with each other.
On the other hand, it may force people to really think about what they're posting and how it contributes to the main roleplay overall.

I'm wondering... what if we set up a posting limit "range" for all main roleplays? What I mean is, depending on the main roleplay thread(s), we could have a specialized limit number on the first post of each thread, maybe in the upper right hand corner or something. So, if our range were, say, 10-15 (lol going crazy here for an example), then all main roleplays would be allowed to make their posting limit a minimum of 10 posts per day or a maximum of 15 per day, depending on the thread and how it works. They would not, however, be allowed to go any higher or lower than that range in regards to limits. Does that make any sense? xD

This may actually help with how we handle side roleplays as well. I made a proposal about it actually that I'd really appreciate it people checked out, just because that's a pretty important subject touching on the entire structure of the roleplay in general.

So we would be allowed 10-15 posts a day? That seems a little excessive...what if we did something like 7-10?

Oh HELL no! xd That was just an example, I'd much rather it be more like 1-5 but what I mean is we could talk about what "range" we'd want in regards to that.

Ok, anyone else have any inputs on limits or ranges?

Range sounds better than limit. Sometimes a couple of people get into a good discussion, or in the case of one playing a villain, a good scrap. Limiting it to a hard number is a bit of a pain; leaving a range open would be a bit more lenient.

I vote for Range as well. I've been on guilds with a 'post at least once per week' deal but having it as a daily post encourages people to get on, with makes it easier for the rp to run.

And it gives those odd few who get one when every one else idd off the chance to be involved with out being left in the dust.

Alrighty then. How far should the range be extended to?

I feel like the highest should be 5 - 7 posts, assuming that each post is at least a paragraph, cause it's quite hard to work off posts that are only a few sentences.

I agree that a post rage would be nice. It would keep people from falling too far behind in the main plot of the RP. I would go to 5-7 depending on the players and situation. A lot can happen in 5 posts and little to nothing can happen as well. It would also stop two people from completely hijacking a community RP.

Not only that but I think Sapphire mentioned that it would force people to think about what they were posting, which I think it is pretty important as well.
