Tymiko started her pokemon journey from Cerulean City in Kanto at the age of 10. Through the next few years (ages 11 through 12 or 13 - she's not sure how old she is, so 2 to 3 years) she obtained badges from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, & Sinnoh, accumulating 32 badges total. The girl learned a lot about all the pokemon from all those regions and completed a National pokedex for Professor Oak with the exception of the Unova region. During her journey, Tymiko lost track of time and immersed herself in the wild and the great outdoors away from civilization.
This made her unsure if she spent 2 or 3 years out on her own, but through that time, her only consistant companions were her pokemon. Through thick and thin, all her pokemon helped her out and she loved them all for their assistance. Due to her lack of ability to properly communicate with them, however, Tymiko sometimes got lonely, not really attaching herself to any one or group of pokemon at a time like many other trainers. Most of them she kept stored in her PC boxes and frequently switched the ones in her party so that all of her pokemon got equal time and training with her. Due to this, though, it prevented her from making any lasting or special bonds with any particular one of them.
When the girl finally completed her national pokedex, Tymiko had planned to start over in the Unova region with a single Vaporeon she had just recently caught with a Dive ball in the ocean. Around the time Ty was looking in to how she could obtain transportation to the unfamiliar region, she and Fathom went for a swim along a beach. Tymiko feared that Fathom would go too far out to sea (since he loved the deeper depths), and called him back into the shallower waters, but not before he retrieved a treasure he had discovered at the bottom of the ocean. Fathom brought his trainer a master ball. At first the child thought the ball was empty and that she had merely come across a huge stroke of luck. Upon further examination, however, she discovered that the ball already had an occupant and hastened to free the prisoner.
A metallic silver lugia, the likes of which she'd never seen before, appeared from the ball, grateful to be free once more. He explained that his ball had been thrown into the ocean by his previous owner and that he had been left for dead on the account that the owner couldn't care for him. When asked about his origins and his previous owner, the lugia explained that he was a clone the man had ordered from an organization called Team Rocket who created pokemon clones as people desired, hence his strange and unnatural coloring. The man who had owned him before had merely been a collector, and thus had not been prepared to actually take care of a living creature since he had thought of the Lugia as more of a trophy, a thing, rather than a creature.
The girl asked the cloned legendary why the man hadn't just let him go free. The lugia answered that the pokemon he was cloned from was extremely rare and that if he was found in the wild, he would likely cause a ruckus that might eventually be traced back to and consequently bring trouble to his owner, Lawrence III. The psychic and dragon-type further explained that the man did not want to sell him off because he was being watched by the police for previous crimes he had committed in years past. Tymiko thought this cruel of the man, but the lugia didn't blame him for the abandonment. He said he couldn't blame the man any more than one can blame a child for wanting a pet without realizing the responsibility that ownership carried. The real culprits, the lugia believed, was the organization that brought new life into the world merely for money without making sure that they would be adequately cared for. He didn't want any more pokemon to suffer the fate he had as a 'trophy'.
When Tymiko asked the lugia what his name was, the lugia replied that he'd had none, as Lawrence III had only ever referred to him as his trophy or as an object. Annoyed by this, the young female trainer asked the lugia if he would mind being called Silversong, to which he replied he did not, and he thanked her for the name and the sense of identity. He also thanked her for freeing him and listening to his tale and asked if there was anything he could do for her in return. Tymiko replied that there wasn't really, except that she wondered where Silversong was going to go next and what he planned to do. As the first pokemon that had actually been able to communicate with her directly, clone or not, the girl felt immediately curious and attached to the lugia. She was even more delighted to discover that he could also communicate with her Vaporeon, Fathom, and relay his words to her in a language she could understand.
Silversong, glad that he could bring some joy to the seemingly lonely, isolated girl, readily answered her question with the reply that he was bound for Kodo where Lawrence III had claimed he'd been shipped from. It was there that he hoped to locate Team Rocket and possibly free from their clutches any other clones they had made. Tymiko, siezed by the sense of adventure and the oppertunity to discover yet another region she'd never heard of before, suddenly asked Silver if she could go with him. She added that he might need a human to travel with less conspicuously and that maybe she could get him into areas he would not normally be welcome alone.
As a young girl, she pointed out, it was a lot easier for her to be overlooked and thus enter into places most others couldn't get into - least of all a pokemon as large as a lugia. Silversong, though worried for the girl's sake, saw the determination in her eyes and finally agreed to let her come along, provided she do as he told her when the time came. After all, the name of an isolated region and an elusive organization alone weren't much to go on. Allowing the girl to ride on his back and carry his master ball with her, the pair set off to find Kodo, following the paths of many shipments until they finally came across the island region. While there, they continued to stay close to sources of water so that Silversong could feed on the large amounts of food that he did, Fathom could splash around in the surf, and Tymiko could enjoy a nice swim.
