These paddies lie between the lowland patties and Kariko village and much like the lowland fields, have several "guard" ninja who live and work within them, but they are much fewer and far between. The incline makes getting through the flooded lands rather difficult, but there are pathways up the sides of the Rice Paddies where merchants and other travelers can traverse the distance easily enough. Though the incline itself isn't very steep, the fields seem to travel up endlessly, bringing travelers up rather high before the ground levels out to lead to Kariko Village. The view from these paddy fields however are said to be the best amongst the entire Rice Country,

One step at a time down the steep hills wasn't the most efficient way for the Otokage to travel, especially considering the vast array of abilities under her control, but it was the most sensible. given that very few people, if any knew her real identity, Kye preferred to walk and move just as a diplomat would, strolling through the countryside of the Otogakure on the way to her destination. Besides, traveling by foot gave her the opportunity to look around and enjoy the view.

Waving to a few of the local farmers who recognized her as the countryside's most famed diplomat, Kye walked to a specific home in the midst of the hills and knocked on the door, whistling a strange tune directly afterword. hearing an accompanied tune on the other side, Kye responded with one last knock before hear a click from the other side of the door, at which point she invited herself in. Immediately, a man dressed in farmer's closing moved to one knee in reverence to Kye. "Hiashi, how many times must I remind you not to do this for me. I'm not the Otokage, only a messenger."

"My apologies, Elise... you know me, a message from the Otokage is like being addressed by the Otokage himself." Kye simply smiled at his actions, rather amused by the tangled web she wove over even her own citizen's eyes to protect her identity, which in term protected the stability of the land at the same time, but answered quickly, as if Elise was her real name... "Yes, well. Go ahead and report. the Otokage is anxious to know how the hills have been since the village's opening"

"Slow ma'am. I have barely seen anyone travel up this way beyond the normal tradesmen. as far as I can tell, there have been no new occurrences of academy students traveling alone, or any other indication of new faces in the fields. I have heard rumors through our sources that I would be to expect a few, but none have yet arrived." Standing up finally, Hiashi moved to offer Kye a drink, but she quickly waved him off, having to be on her way. "Alright, thank you Hiashi. Your service is appreciated as always." ... "It is my honor to serve." Nodding to his loyal statement, Kye left the home on the fields and continued down further into the countryside to the next checkpoint.

Shin moved with soft foot steps as he made his way down the road to find a man named Haishi. As he scanned ahead for the hut that Kai mentioned he wondered what she was doing, if she had left to find his past, if she was still enjoying the company of her friends in the bar, just as Shin started to dwell more into his thought he caught a glimpse of the hut he had been looking for. As he made his way toward it his snake slithered down his arm then fell to the ground, Shin thought he would hear a thud of some kind however the snake fell silently. shin had stopped to see what his companion was doing, and as he did the snake made it's way to his ankle, slipped under his rather baggy pants and curled around his leg. Smiling Shin knelled down moving his pants a bit to make sure his snake was completely hidden from view. As he did this he stroked the snakes head threw his pant then made his way to the hut.

After a moment or two of walking Shin found himself outside of the hunt and moving toward it's door. Once he stood in front of it he knocked three times and said " Elise has sent me to work. " Shin spoke loud enough so anyone inside would here him but tried keeping his voice light and friendly at the same time. Whether this worked or not Shin didn't know he just waited for the mane to answer his call patiently.

Sitting at a table, illuminating the papers he was working on with a single candle, Hiashi's head turned upward, his keen senses detected a presence approaching at least 20 seconds before even hearing a knock. Getting up slowly and in a relaxed manner, he walked to the door, holding up his hands in a single seal as a bowl of water near the door suddenly hardened into ice, forming a mirror which allowed him to see around his door by way of carefully placed mirrors. Seeing a young boy, Hiashi was not at all alarmed, allowing the ice to melt casually as he was about to ask what the boy wanted.

The young child seemed to beat him to the punch however as he heard that he had been sent by Elise. "How very odd for Elise to send a young ninja to me..." Shrugging it off, Hiashi knew that she and the Otokage must have purpose behind their action, so he unlatched the door and opened it. Good Evening young sir. So, you've been sent by Elise to do some work, eh? Well, there is always work to be done around here, I assure you." Obviously, Elise wished to have the boy employed in several 'missions' or she would not have sent him... so Hiashi would take the subtle instruction and follow it to the letter.

"My name is Hiashi... and I am the keeper of these fields. And who might I have the honor of speaking to?... someone who has experience in farming the rice paddies I hope."

As the man answered the door Shin took a slight step back putting a little more than a arms length between them and examined the man. When doing this however Shin tried not moving his eyes and only using his peripheral view so not to give away what he was doing. Noticing all the bandages Shin wondered what this man did for a living and was a bit surpised when he mentioned gathering rice paddies. " My name is Shin, Shin Naga." he said with a low bow of his head before continuing on to say " I helped a older man for about a week collecting his crop, however I wouldn't say I have experience... especially not if you farm rice in a way that requires so many bandages. Shin spoke with soft laughter in his voice trying to be friendly with the man. He figured making friends would be a good idea since he didn't remember who any of his old ones were.

Ooc: I hope you ment for him to be wearing those bandages C:.

Normally, Hiashi would have laughed at a joke made in his presence, but in this case, he was not amused. His smile waning from his face, Hiashi's look became much more serious as he simply stared down at the child, his cold eyes sending a chill towards the child's spine, both figuratively and literally as his bloodline abilities seeped through his demeanor, making the area around him colder. "These bandages." Hiashi said in a cold and serious tone, "Cover the burn scars I received by way of torture and the gaping wounds left in me by the war which ravaged this land before peace settled over it."

Silence quickly followed his cold-hearted comment, accompanied by a swift wind through the hills, sending the chill in the area down a few more degrees as it whipped about the hut. Grabbing a drab tunic which looked like ti had seen many hours in the dirt and mud over untold years, Hiashi put it on, covering his bandage and mesh garment and walked out of the hut, closing it behind him with a slam as he led the way to the rice paddies behind them. A large portion of the fields had already been planted, butt here were various other sections, which as opposed to the other fields, were simply flooded with water without any reeds sticking out. Reaching the field, Hiashi picked up several large bags and instructed Shin how to sling them across his side. The bags contained the rice pants which needed to be planted in the muddy water.

"You'll take the plants out one at a time, spacing each reed at least 6 inches from each other through the entire length of this flooded field. As you can see, you have quite a bit of field to work with, so I would suggest you not dawdle with your task. Make sure the root is well secured in the mud, at least an inch down. You may come and find me when you are done." With that, Hiashi slung his own pack over his shoulder and began to plant an adjacent field, clearly looking like he had nothing else to say.

As the area around Shin grew colder and the man began talking he felt a wiry sense he said something he shouldn't have. As the man told Shin what the bandages covered and how he gained them he was stunned. To his surprise however he wasn't alarmed by the burns, or the torture, those things carried no emotional weight to him. He thought it was odd that the mention of those things had so little effect on him, but that not what shook Shin. This man, a man Shin has never met was competently and totally honest with him about something Shin had no right to know. This for some reason had a profound emotional response in Shin, he felt like it was the first time he ever truly believed something that anyone told him. Even tho he didn't remember who he was or how his life had been, somehow he knew this man was just more honest with him than anyone he had ever met to this point, in either of his life's.

Just as the wind hit the hut and chilled the area a bit more Shin said
"Thank you, I don't think anyone has ever done that before. I have never felt... Well I don't remember ever feeling like someone was as honest with me as you just were. I apologize." Shin said nothing else and aloud silence to fill the area until Hiashi decided to instruct him. When Hiashi lead the way to the fields Shin stayed silent, following a few paces behind, and keeping his foot steps soft. Once there he followed the instructions on how to carries the bags.

As Hiashi explained what he needed to do Shin said nothing, only tentatively listening to what the man had to say. Once the instructions were finished Shin gave a slight bow of his head to the man once again before Haishi walked off to his own work field. As Shin watched the man walked off he wondered if there was something he could do to make up for his indiscretion. With a slight sigh of uncertainty Shin knelled down making sure nothing in his bags fell out. He then lifted his pant leg and uncoiled his snake, and walked over to a stone. Placing his hand on the stone to make sure it was harm he laid his snake down on it and watched it get comfortable. Running his pointing finger along the body of the snake he said to it " I'll will see you after my work is complete." With that Shin made his way to the field was was meant to be working on was slowly stepped into the murky mud filled water. He made sure not to splash or create a unnecessary amount dirt to swirl around. He moved slowly and fluidly beginning to plant the roots as he was instructed. Moving from one to the next making sure each one was done with care.

Ooc biggrin oes that count as one post toward my mission? I don't think so... Anyway you know your Rpc Profile link sends you to your Otokage profile right? Just letting ya know and wondering why if that is if in fact what you meant to do.

Continuing to plant the rice Shin thought about what Hiashi had said to him, and the feelings it created in him. As the thought picked at his brain he kept taking slow steps bending over and placing more rice firmly into the ground. As he did this he felt a gentle breeze sweep across the fields and wash over him. He stood straight up and allowed the breeze to cover his entire body taking a slight break from the work to enjoy something small. A moment passed and the breeze was gone, Shin looked over toward were Hiashi was and guilt pulled at his stomach, a sad look crept into his face as he continued his work planting rice stem after rice stem six inches apart from the other in the pattern he was instructed to follow.

The sun began to set on the hills as Shin neared the end of his field, still paying close attention to how we planted the reeds so to not have to do it over. Slowly Shin moved his feet as he came to his last reed, he then bent down feeling a slight ache in his back that made him feel as if he done a good days work. As he planted the last reed and stood he looked over to see were Hiashi was. No surprise he was making his way across his field with empty satchels. Shin hoped onto the thin stretch of solid dry land that surrounded each field and slowly made his way back to his snake. < Mission Complete >

Coming to the rock were Shin left his friend a sense of comfort came over him when he saw it sleeping peacefully. With a soft stroke Down the small snakes head Shin woke it. It opened its mouth all the way unhinging it's jaw as it yawned. A smile crept into Shins face as he said
" Oh yawning are we? Sleeping all day take that much out of you? " His word were soft and sweet as the snake slithered up his arm and curled around his neck. It looked almost as if Shin were wearing a thick green necklace with a snake head as a charm as he walked toward Hiashi, but it would be easily noticed as a very real snake if looked at closely.

Reaching Hiashi with the bags still hanging off him Shin said " I have finished my field as you asked. I followed your instructions to the letter, I am sure you will be please with your harvest." The words came out of Shins mouth fluidly, like warm honey, he didn't want to upset Hiashi any further than he did that day. " Is there anything more I can do?

Just as shin finished the words a swallow dropped to his shoulder left a letter then flew away. Unrolling the piece of paper Shin read the words telling him to head to the Academy for training. Once finished Shin looked up at Hiashi and said " I am sorry to say I must be on my way, may you give me some minor direction to the Academy? In a cold voice Hiashi gave the directions and Shin was off to receive the training going on at the academy. Maybe he would find something out there about his past.

"Ooc: You my good friend were right on the money. On another note. Do snake yawn? It seems really cute in my head, but I can't recall ever seeing a real snake yawn. Hmm this is going to bug me for a bit.

Inside the moderately sized hut on the Rising Eastern Hills, Hiashi was sitting quietly resting after a long day of work while he went over several official reports, preparing his next report to send to the Otokage when suddenly he heard a knock at the door. His head snapping to the door quickly, Hiashi furrowed his brow as he wasn't picking up on any chakra trail. Regardless however, Hiashi careful hid the documents he was working with and then got up, unlocking the door and opening it to meet whoever was on the other side. Opening the door wide, Hiashi was shocked to see that no one was present. Looking left and right a few times, he wasn't able to detect any sort of presence, which was incredibly strange.

With no sign of anyone around, Hiashi closed the door and locked it, turning around to go back to his work when he suddenly took a shocked step backwards. Kye had somehow gotten past him and into his hut and was now sitting on the floor, leaning up against the back wall and breathing heavily. "Elise?... what happened to you?" Looking over her quickly, Hiashi quickly assessed her position as stable, but pretty heavily injured. She had several wounds across her body easily visible in the areas of her clothing that had become tattered and she seamed to have been running for quite some time at high speed regardless of the wounds. Receiving no word from her as to what happened, Hiashi ignored it and simply began to assist her. "Here, let's get you comfortable first."

With not much more then a single thought, Hiashi was able to decrease the ambient temperature of the room to relieve her exhaustion and sweating and helped her off the ground and onto his bed where he left her to get some medical supplies as he started to patch her wounds. "Hmmmph, Hiashi... the consummate soldier, loyal to the end and trustworthy. Not many like you exist." Hiashi did little but smile in the face of the compliment and continued to simply improve Kye's position. "That boy I sent your way, the one who I had work in your fields... I was investigating his amnesia, trying to find out where he was from and what happened. Turns out he was from the Otogakure all this time, but was raised in a house far on the outskirts of the Western fields. I investigated the house only to find a series of secret labs underground, well hidden and very cleverly protected. No average shinobi could have created it... and it's possible that anyone short of a Sannin would have been able to survive within it."

"I had found everything I needed, but then in collecting the evidence, I was careless enough to release a giant snake summoning"
, turning quickly Hiashi reacted almost immediately to the comment, "A Snake summoning?... so the boy is part of all this." Nodding quietly, Kye continued onward, "Yes, but I don't think even he knows anything about it. Either way, I dispatched the snake, putting me in the condition you see now, but then the entire LAB and house exploded as part of some sort of breached self-destruct protocol." "So all that noise earlier was you after all... I take it you were not compromised?" Nodding again, Kye pushed Hiashi's hand away from her as she applied the bandaging to the more sensitive areas and tied them off tightly, wincing at the temporary pain it induced, but satisfied with the work.

"I need to inform several more people regarding this, but I need your expertise to handle everything else in the meantime." Hiashi nodded and smiled as he stood tall and offered his hand to help Kye stand up... "So, you want me to find out what the patrols learn from the scene and then dilute the information which makes it's way through the investigation channels and ultimately bury the issue as nothing more then an accident I assume?" Taking his hand, which when accompanied with a firm pull, brought her to her feet, Kye nodded in agreement to his plan, "And naturally, report back to me when everything is done." "Of course Elise. I live to serve as always." "Thank you Hiashi. I'll be on my way now." With nothing else needing to be said between them, Kye made her way out the door as a sudden flash of yellow light was seen through the cracks, indicating to Hiashi that she was gone and that he should get to work.

By the time Yasa had caught up with her, Kye was already descending down the path out of Kariko Village which would lead to the Rising Eastern Hills. With all of her training and the fact that she walked almost everywhere she went, Kye walked at a decently fast rate and could do so for long periods of time without feeling much fatigue. However, when the horse drawn wagon caught up with her, she knew she couldn't truly contend with the horse in terms of speed and figured she take it easy this time around. Stopping for a brief second to wait for him to catch up, she climbed up on the seat next to Yasa, shifting around to make herself comfortable before leaning back to relax.

Shadow, said nothing, simply leaping up on top of the wagon, as he stood tall, both keeping a lookout on everything around them, and serving as a warning to anyone who would dare to attack that this wagon was guarded. Not that they needed to worry about that yet, but Kye's clone would play the role of the consummate guardian, never sleeping, never ceasing, always watching. After several hours of more or less silence, in which both of the passengers amused themselves with their own research and reading, Kye began to peer at what Yasa was doing, noting that in his research he wrote in code. She of course could read it, but figured a conversation might be better suited. They were in no danger now, so such things presented no risk...

"Quite the nice arrangement you have here. I really must travel with you more often... you seem to travel with a bit more style then I do normally. So then, what is all this you have been working on?... have you been tinkering in your workshop late at night again?" By now the rising Eastern hills were soon coming to their end and they would be getting closer to the Lowlands. It would still be another couple of hours before they arrived, but they were still making good pace and it was a relaxing journey thus far.

~

After leaving the bar, Yasashii didn't pay hardly any attention to the road at all. The mare knew well enough where to go, and he didn't need to worry about it. As Kye and her clone neared, the horse slowed by itself long enough for them to climb on, and then took off again. Such lax awareness wouldn't work once they had left the country, but that was going to be a few hours. Yasashii nodded a greeting to Kye as she joined him on the wagon, but as she didn't seem interested in conversation just yet, returned to his research.

In his hunting the night before, Yasashii had found several references to a seal of the sort he needed, but none of the notes were complete. Some had been partially destroyed, found in books he had recovered during the rebuilding of Kariko village. Others were in books he'd had brought in, but either didn't know enough about the seal, or were only bits of theory as to how it'd been made, with no solid guides. [1/11]

Luckily for him though, the bits of information were enough to start him down the right track, and finish it himself. For the first half hour or so of the trip, the only sounds to be heard were the horse walking, and Yasashii's pencil scratching across the paper of his journal, working on arranging the bits he had together in the right order. it was a lengthy process, because they were written all by different men, with different interpretations, and all of them had holes that had to be filled, but he did it, completing the first portion of the seal, the part that allowed it to process chakra in the way he needed. [2/11]

Next came the hard part, Yasashii needed to complete the seal with little to no knowledge of it's original being. He had a few bits of notes on the remaining parts, but only enough to devise what was needed for the seal's completion. First, a filter, then containment, so that the chakra was not wasted on a leaky seal, and finally, attachment. A seal of this sort needed to be specially made in order to attach to it's host. [3/11]

But before worrying about all that, he needed the filter. One man's chakra could easily be another man's poison. Elements, genetics, bloodlines, all of these things and more could come together to make two sets of chakra entirely incompatible. The generic chakra pill showed that well enough, being able to supercharge a chakra supply, but with no filtration, it could also be used as a deadly weapon. The Konaga clan Kye posed as a member of was another perfect example. Their chakra was pure, and powerful, and incompatible with any outside source. Even their own chakra could be fatal to them, if it were forcibly returned. [4/11]

A seal with the express purpose of transferring chakra between two individuals could not have such a blatant weakness. It needed a filter. Something to change the very nature of the chakra and match it to the host. It took several renditions, and yet another hour of travel, before Yasashii finally found something he believed would work. He had started with a seal that removed any genetic markers and elements from the chakra, making it pure, but discarded that idea because it would still be incompatible with the user, each person having their own chakra traits. [5/11]

The next option was to make the seal draw in a small amount of chakra from the receiver, and mingle the two chakras together to hopefully trick the user's chakra into believing it was their own. That option was discarded in turn, due to the excess of time used mingling the chakra, and the fact that the new chakra would be difficult to use, if the body would even accept it. The strange chakra would feel different to the person using it, and be harder to manipulate, making it a bad choice. [6/11]

The option he finally settled on was a mix of the first two. Taking the first try's method of removing the genetic markers from the chakra to make it pure, and the second seal's method of mixing the two chakras, he created a filter that purified the chakra, and then gave it the user's own genetic markers, making it for all intents and purposes, their own chakra. It wasn't as efficient as he'd have liked, and the process would cost a bit of chakra, but it worked better than anything else he'd found. [7/11]

Next came containment. Without good containment on the seal, chakra would leak and be wasted, especially on this sort of seal, transferring raw chakra rather than trying to convert it. The solution was simple. He simply needed to take the theory behind the battery seal, and tweak it a bit, making a sort of combination between the battery, and a simple link. That would keep the chakra flowing, and the battery seal's strength of holding raw chakra without losing any would take care of containment. [8/11]

And then came attachment. For that, he delved into the only other technique he knew of that linked so directly to a person's chakra supply. The Chakra Suppression Seal. He hadn't mastered that seal yet, but he knew enough of the theory behind it to rejigger it around to work for him. The suppression seal locked into a victim's chakra supply and sealed it off from their use, by sucking away at any of it they attempted to use. All he had to do, was reverse the effect so that the seal fed chakra into the system as it was drawn upon, rather than out. [9/11]

With the theory complete, Yasashii's pencil ceased for a moment as he leaned back and took a breath, scanning over what he'd written down thus far. The hard part was done, but now he'd have to turn the words he'd written, into a proper array. Reaching into a sack on the seat beside him, Yasa withdrew a single sheet of blank paper and set upon it with his pencil, drawing version after version of the array his theories led him to. [10/11]

It was after about an hour of that, and a small pile of what would soon be fire starter, to dispose of the versions that did not work, that Yasashii finally arrived at his final version, and the seal was complete. Scanning it over a couple times more, the man nodded, committing it to memory, before crumpling the paper and adding it to the pile of scrap. Normally at this stage, a ninja would add the completed design to their notes, but that was not Yasashii's way. He would keep the theories in his notes, hidden behind his code, but the actual array would not be found by anyone seeking to steal his work. [11/11]

It was about that time that Kye finally chose to speak, questioning what he was working on, and complimenting his "traveling style". Snapping his book shut and looking up, Yasashii gave an amused smile her way. "I only really travel this way when I have luggage." he said with a shrug. Obviously, considering his special talents, that wasn't completely true, but it was close enough for him.

"As for what I'm working on... How about I just show you?" he grinned as the air above the mare began to twinkle, light reflecting off of tiny crystals forming in the air over it, until the man who had taught some of the students a couple nights before, known to Yasashii and Kye both as Yasa's "Ninja mode", appeared sitting on the horse. A clone formed in the likeness Yasashii used to hide himself.

The clone, for it's part, immediately did a backflip off of the horse and into the wagon behind Yasashii, where it opened the front of it's shirt, exposing it's chest. Yasashii turned around, and using a brush he'd produced from the sack on the seat, drew several seals across the clone's chest, and when he had finished, laid his hand on the largest one, in the center, and poured chakra into it before bidding the clone to cover itself again. The clone immediately did so, and settled down beside Kye's own clone to ride.

Yasashii then turned around, picking up his journal again and flipping it open to a certain set of pages, and handed it to Kye, deeming it unnecessary to speak out loud what he had done, and leaving it instead for her to read. It wasn't exactly as described in his journal, lacking a few bits, but it was operable. And if there indeed arose a need for the clones to fight, she would see it in action.

I know I said I'd get this up yesterday, but... Yeah, er, do I need to say it? It took a tad longer than I expected at the time. Glad you specified the several hours before speaking though. Gave me a wonderful window.

1451... Not bad. o.o

Also, I'm thinking it may be prudent to lower the required post count for learning seals, cause really, that was crazy, and there's not often going to be much material to go on for learning them. Especially if you're not me. o.o

Okay, okay, I'll post it now! Enough typing! Done!
