While the main road supports the major businesses of the village, the remainder of the town consists of residential areas for citizens of the Rice Country. Maybe a few hundred people in total live in the village, from every walk of life to businessmen, to tradesmen, to scholars. Anyone or no one could be a shinobi of the Otogakure however, and though some walk around as known ninja liaison, the remaining shinobi blend in with everyone else. Each house belongs to the people who live within it, in many cases, one or two families sharing the property and living together.

All of the homes are of Japanese design with the standard wooden support structures and Japanese design and comforts inside, such as tatimi mat floors, sliding paper doors and futons for sleeping. Most houses have front and backyards to be used by the residents as they wish. Many create personalized gardens or set up the areas for work, or training, depending on their craft or talents. Several homes are set up by very stable members of the village who are also accomplished Otogakure shinobi. These houses often have subterranean structures beneath their houses which act as storehouses for the village's ninja tools and in some cases, ninjutsu scrolls as well. However, which houses or who owns said houses is not commonly known except by shinobi of the village, and even then, each shinobi would only know of one house like this, when there could be several more throughout the village.

Walking through the streets, things were starting to settle down across the village as the sky's light began to wane. Following the well known paths into the residential areas, Kye politely nodded to those who bowed in recognition of her as she continued through the streets. Turning several corners down the dirt paths of the village, Kye had to stop once or twice to avoid having the children of the area run into her. All of it only served to bring a smile to her usually cold expressions as she was happy to see her village thriving, so many of the citizens simply living out their peaceful lives oblivious to the shinobi world which surrounded them, and was in fact dominate in their own backyard.

As she approached her destination however, the nostalgia of the village of her own creation left her and the cold expression washed over her face once again as she stepped up onto the wooden porch of one of the seemingly benign residences in the area. The house itself was modest, not befitting a family of any great standing or reputation, but in reality this house contained the village's oldest and most trusted supplier, whom Kye knew well. Arriving on the porch, Kye was immediately greeted as the door slid open, revealing a woman dressed in a warm kimono. "Oh... Konaga-dono, greetings... to what do we owe the honor of your arrival?" Kye smiled as was her best practice in such situations and responded politely, "Good Evening Yuki, is Hikari home? I have business I must discuss with him." ..."Of course, yes, please come in." Stepping into the house, Kye saw that the house was immaculately kept and was pleased to see it. With Yuki already off to fetch Hikari, Kye didn't have to wait long before he came up, smiling politely before bowing to her, "Elise, a pleasure to see you as always, how may I assist you?"

Pulling out the kunai she had gotten from Shin, Elise held it out to Hikari prompting him to take it, which he did, and then issued her request... "A boy was found holding this kunai, but due to an accident involving amnesia, he has no recollection of how he got it. I checked the serial number and recognized the numbers assigned to your storehouse. No doubt you have a complete record of all the ninja tools you have assigned out to our operatives. I need to know who's kunai that is so I can begin to unravel where this boy comes from and learn more about him." Listening carefully, Hikari looked at the number carefully, but then looked somewhat surprised once he saw it. "Very strange... this must have been one of the first kunai I ever issued. Intriguing. give me just a second, I'll be back with more information for you." Hikari then left, disappearing around a corner, leaving Kye in wait.

After a few moments of waiting, Kye heard footsteps once again as Hikari rounded the corner holding a single piece of parchment paper and a small pair of reading glasses in his hand. "It is as I thought Elise. This is one of the very first items I ever requisitioned for this village. The serial number dates all the way back to the start of the village, and it was given to a fairly obscure agent, one who has since retired. Her name was only ever listed as Shina, but she was noted as being of a strange bloodline." ..."Let me guess," Kye interjected quickly... "Pale skin, somewhat slender, fangs and animal-like eyes..." Looking up from his parchment, Hikari smiled, knowing that of course, Elise would already know the description...

"Precisely. Sounds like your boy is a relative. I guess the question is now, why does the boy have her kunai. A question I'm sure you'll find an answer to in the Western fields, on the outermost boundaries, close to the ocean."... "That's pretty remote... I guess the perfect place for a retired member of the Otogakure to live and work, even I don't get out that far very often. Well then, it seems I have a bit of a journey ahead of me tonight. Your assistance and service to the village is appreciated as always Hikari, Thank You." Hikari politely bowed and smiled at the praise, but offered no response, simply turning the corner once more to re-file his paperwork, allowing Elise to show herself out. What she would do with the information was not his business, and as a seasoned member of the Otogakure, he knew to stay out of things that were not his business. Instead of exiting the house however, Kye simply disappeared into a side room where her actions could not be seen just before a bright flash of light blue and yellow energy lit up the room and disappeared, leaving no trace of Kye behind. Normally, Kye would never have done such a thing, but Hikari was one of the few in the village who knew her identity, so there was no threat of revealing any part of herself here.

Rather than returning directly to the bar after leaving Kye, Yasashii made his way instead into the village, maneuvering quickly through shadows and alleys that few even knew existed, making his way to a certain house, a house of a friend, and a house of a supplier. After a sharp knock on the door, he was welcomed in and the door closed behind him. No words were exchanged between him and his friend, only nods of greeting and recognition as the man pulled a package from storage, and ushered Yasashii into a side room. Two minutes later, he opened the door again, finding Yasashii gone, despite there being no other doors nor windows in the room, and a small pile of clothing neatly folded on the room's single chair. Yasashii's ninja outfit.

In another house several blocks away, Yasashii emerged from the front door, dressed once more in his normal suit. With a friendly farewell to the woman who lived there, he turned and began to walk away, finally headed back the the bar. he had work to do before the day was done. Hopefully he could finish it before Kye arrived.

A small lake glistened brightly in the waning rays of sunlight as they great yellow star fell away from view, covered by distant hills. A lonely wagon pulled by a pair of young horses rolled at a brisk pace as the wizened driver chatted over his shoulder to a single occupant. The old man, after dropping off his cargo at the hospital, found Tensai exhausted and struggling to maintain an even stride on the side of the rome. After realizing the youth was none other than the young Ushio who resided in a cute little home only a few houses down the street, the old man brought his horses to a stop and caught Tensai's eye.

Haru remembered the day when he first met the boy, lurking coyly behind his mother as the small community excitedly welcomed them to the village. The father, somewhat famous in the region for his frequent travels, astounded the comunity by remembering them even though his last visit was almost half a decade ago. The mother struggled to free the boy from her skirts before leaving by carriage, only staying for a few minutes to eat. The father apologized for his wife but nobody took offense. She was a diplomat and was most likely running late to a meeting. Instead of crying the boy simply wandered into the fields, oblivious to the stares of other children eager to meet him. His father left within three days, leaving instructions for the boy to live with an elderly couple he was familiar with. Tensai's birth-parents only returned to Kariko Village on special occassions though their visit became les common as the years passed on.

In the years Haru knew the young Ushio he had never seen him cry nor complain about anything. The elderly couple never shed light on the families background only shaking their heads and patting Tensai's head affectionately as he poured over some newly aqquired history text. Haru brought his horses to a stop before the house but declined the boy's insistence to pay.

"It's on the house. Besides, I was already on my home for the night," smiled the old man and left the silent Ushio standing in front of the house. The Tengoku House was one of the oldest structures in Kariko Village, presumably dating back before even the first 'Otokages' reign. Originally it was surrounded by tall stone walls but after the new Otokage brought order to the Rice Country large portions of the walls were taken down and used to pave the walk-way to the door. The front lawn was neat; evenly cut grass, a small koi pond beneath a small bridge, and a small shrine. The House itself was large and possessed a seperate structure used for ritual purposes. The Tengoku had strong Shinto beliefs, the same beliefs instilled on a less severe scale onto Tensai.

Exhausted Tensai mounted the wooden patio, avoiding patches of the floor before sliding the door open and closng it behind him. His guardians weren't home so Tensai instantly retired for a nap. Though sore he could already feel a familiar throbbing within his veins, only tempered by the soothing touch of mother Tengoku.
