Suikoden VI at TGS?
  Awright! It's about time!
I'm cautiously optimistic about this rumor.
I'm on the fence - let's wait and see, shall we?

Suikoden VI at TGS?

Japanese gaming magazine Game Lab has recently stated in their Industry Rumors section that another installment of Suikoden is being developed for PS3 and set to premiere at the 2010 Tokyo Game Show! Big news, guys- this is not only the first news we've heard in what seems like ages from a credible source (and not just some dude on GameFAQs), but more importantly if true then this would be the first ever Suikoden to PREMIERE at TGS! Perhaps this means Konami is taking a more aggressive marketing strategy?

If true, what could it be? Suikoden VI? Tierkreis II? Another remake of 1 and/or 2? We'll have to wait until mid-September to see for sure, but I'm hopeful this year!

Some of the games have been revealed, but there's still a mystery slot open for Konami's TGS lineup. Kojima's new game? Or, dare I hope, Suikoden?!

The rumor mill seems to be breaking down. Famitsu hasn't said anything about a new Suikoden installment - VI, Tierkreis, or otherwise - and the mystery slot seems to have gone to another Valkyria Chronicles.

I do believe reading on a Suikoden site (suikosource) that Murayama has "received an offer from a certain company" as he put it in his own blog.

I'm thinking that the certain company might be Konami, as do so many others, and that they are trying to get him back!

Also, if anyone doesn't know who Murayama is, then shame on you! He was the Senior Designer for Suikoden 1 and 2. So yeah.

And also for 3. He left Konami after the game was completed but before it was released.

And yeah, Murayama's blog post was huge news back in January. Unfortunately, he later posted that he rejected the offer and is still going freelance. Which has been very successful for him, in that it hasn't at all. :/

Oh ok, well, I haven't been following much Suikoden news until about a month ago, when I got the 1+2 on the psp so yeah.

Damn, he so should have taken the offer. I'm just hoping some new guy or someone else or whatever doesn't take up the offer, reveal something big like either Harmonia, Sindar etc and ruin the great mystery of it all. Hopefully if they do it, they can pull it off.

Well, Konami's TGS slot has come and gone, and no new Suikoden :/ I guess that's it for this year.

Wait! What happened? What was it? I'm too lazy for genuine research into this!!!

But I'm assuming that Konami has shown that the upcoming game we were all hoping to be Suikoden VI is infact not Suikoden VI.

Tokyo Game Show was this past weekend. Konami had a few mystery games for their slot, and we kept hoping that it would be a new Suikoden installment. Unfortunately, they all ended up being, IIRC, Valkyria Chronicles 3, a new Dynasty Warriors, and Arms' Heart or something along those lines. Either way, no new Suiko.

Which makes me wonder just what Konami's plan is for the series? They recently (i.e., last year and approved June 15th) filed a North American Trademark for "Genso Suikoden," after apparently letting the "Suikoden" trademark expire. Konami has until December 15th (ironically, the 15th Anniversary of Genso Suikoden's Japanese release) to publish something under the "Genso Suikoden" trademark or else they lose that one, too. I am thoroughly unsure what to make of this, and any ideas I have are NOT positive.

Are they trying to kill Suikoden, at least in North America? Are they going to release an encyclopedia, an artbook, or something that's not a game? Are they going to release ANYTHING?

They would have to have been trying to produce something, I mean, it is almost too obvious that they contacted Marayama, so what would that be about?

So help me, if they don't start making the games, I'll be getting a cheap RPG Maker, and this guild here can be a base of ideas for a Suikoden game. I'm sure we can use Suikoden as the trademark for that expired. Who's in then? I'm thinking of going either Sindar or Harmonian. xd

Anyway....
It's a shame that they aren't doing anything game wise.
As an aussie, I always feel SO unique to say "I'm a Suikoden playing Aussie". I know of only ONE person who has played Suikoden, and that is only cause I recommended it to him!(Didn't introduce, just told him about it).

Cheers,
Relfy.

PS: I was not serious about making a game, although it would be interesting to hear ideas and if I ever get bored. And also, my IRL nickname is Relfy, so that is why a signed off so.

dude if u had started working on it i was say, go back to the toran republic, but like 50 years down the line, with sheena as president and not a horny a hole (you know eventually he'll grow up). lepant is dead, so are most of the others(including apple) and now the hero character is some lame low level guard (kinda like the first one but this time he's not a new member to the army also no ties to the upper management) then the villains be a branch of the old empire that survived and has acuired enough power to start there war to conquer the world... what you all think?

TBH, it sounds... implausible. Scarlet Moon and the Rugner regime wasn't very popular by the end, and fifty years is far too long a nesting time for loyalist uprisings. The Higheast Rebellion took 12 years, and that needed outside Harmonian instigation to start.

If I were doing a fanmade gaiden game, I'd personally want to focus on (A) the Sindar-hunting exploits of Zweig, Lorelai, and Killey, or (B) a Tactics-type game and experience either the Scarlet Moon Succession War or the First Fire Bringer War. But that's just me.

i could get behind a story of killey and the sindar, wouldnt be a bad game to have it all just about those three or three different stories of them, with different things going on, that of course intertwine between the rest
