Salutations, fellow Gaians.

I'm setting up this forum so that we can discuss our favorite authoress' latest novels--and those potentially upcoming.

According to her site, Tammy's next books look to be the following...

2011-1012: MASTIFF, book three of the Beka Cooper trilogy, the ultimate task set for Beka Cooper

2012 TBD: untitled Circle universe book, about Briar, Evvy and Rosethorn in Yanjing

2013 TBD: NUMAIR: THE EARLY YEARS 1 (very tentative title), in which we learn of Numair's last years at the university of Carthak, the beginning of his conflict with the newly-made Emperor Ozorne (Numair's best friend), his quick departure from Carthak, and how he survives afterward

2013 TBD: untitled Circle universe book, in which Tris enrolls at the mages' university in Lightsbridge under an assumed name, in an attempt to become an ordinary mage practicing normal academic magic (spells, charms, potions) with no one knowing her real name or power

2014 TBD: NUMAIR: THE EARLY YEARS 2, continuing the story of Numair's life as he comes to Tortall and is befriended by Alanna the Lioness and Baron George, and aids King Jonathan in creating a Tortallan university

2015 TBD: untitled Tortall universe book, about the coming-of-age of Maura of Dunlath, and how she finds her own unique place in the realm

So, my friends? What do you think Tamora has in store for us? What stories are you most excited about? This is the place to talk about your theories and speculations for the upcoming novels, or just proclamations of joy for their forthcoming.

Have at it!

*Jumps about in stupid excitement*

OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!

*Ok, I think that's enough mindless abandonment for now smile *

All of them sound brilliant (Yes, sadly I'm back to that tiring word!)

I'm especially excited about the Numair books. Those are going to be especially good, I think. His relationship with Orzone should prove interesting. And I've always wanted to know how he met up with George and Alanna, too.

ooooooh! It's going to be hard waiting for these to get published!
crying crying crying crying

Thanks for the info!

P.S. I like the title for this thread wink

Kisses!

I'm excited for any and all new Tamora Pierce books but I've been waiting to know about Numair for FOREVER!!!! Ever since I read "Wild Magic" I wondered about his origins. I think a book about Tris at Lightbridge would be interesting too, since she's my favorite from the "Circle" books.

I'm going to basically have to ditto what you've said, Krilana--I think I'm most excited about Tris' trip to Lightsbridge, but I've been curious about Numair's origins since the beginning of The Immortals quartet.

Anyone have any speculations for the new novels?

I'm actually less than hyped for the Circle's Yanjing episode--if it's anything like Melting Stones, I expect to be sadly disappointed. sad

I agree. It's been a while since I've read Melting Stones but I recall finding it less than stellar. I'm hoping it was just a one time thing.

Why do you think that book was so bad? I thought at first that Pierce had perhaps handed off the tale to some aspiring writer close to her and let them print it under her name, but the more I think on it, the more I come to believe that she was actually trying to return to her more simple roots in the SotL books, after writing the pair of Trickster novels which required so much more research and effort--or just pure laziness after all that hard work.

It may have even had something to do with editors and time. She may have had a deadline and not enough time/ideas so she just wrote whatever she had. Or the editors may have suggested cutting some things that would have made the story more interesting.

Oh, God!
You may be right!
Don't they realize that their digging their own grave with that?
I'd advise them to think about the time-honored saying:
You can't rush genius!!!!!

It's not that hard to understand, I'd think, but obviously not everyone thinks.....Poor T.P.!

But how could they have made such an egregious error, when in the past we've seen nothing but good from Pierce? A rushed deadline sounds plausible to me, but the only way the other would work is if she had somehow changed editors on us, at least to my way of thinking.

I actually thought Melting Stones was good. And I typically don't like first person narratives. I'm actually pretty excited about the Yanjing book. I've been wanting to know what happened there ever since I read Will of the Empress.

My goodness, Firekat! You're right! This is probably the book about the war that took place there, the one that was never properly addressed in Will of the Empress! Oh, now I'm more excited for this book!! biggrin

It is an odd occurrence. I'm quite sure about if she has a specific editor she works with or if it is a company. If it is a company, then they could have produced a dud editor that allowed this to happen. I'm going to put it down to random happenstance. All of her other works have been great and this is just a fluke. If I say it enough it will be true.

I can't decide!!! I sooo love all of the characters!!!

I feel like the proper label for all of us would be something along the lines of "TPA -Tamora Pierce Addicts"
