History:
Once upon a time, he might have gone down the path of the engineer... but with the touch of AIVAS considered synonymous with the unpredictability of Thread, a young J'iura took himself and his tinkering ways off to the Smiths for training. He wasn't exactly well suited for it, given his slight stature, but the journeymen and masters who assigned him his tasks had plenty of work to give a nimble fingered apprentice. All told, his few years spent in the smithcraft were uneventful and uninspiring... a bit like J'iura himself. He doesn't come from a particularly interesting family, in fact, he doesn't even know them. Rumors swirl around his unexpected birth to a married woman who's husband has brown eyes and who herself has brown eyes, but he has never felt neglected. He was turned over to one of the headwomen of the Hold for raising, and grew up running amok with a gang of boys his age. No fuss, no muss. He has fond memories of his childhood friends, even if the lack of any true parental figures tends to weigh on him at times.

Life only really got interesting when he was searched for a clutch at Trine Weyr, where he Impressed Dannath at the age of 16 and went through the trials and tribulations of bringing a black dragon to maturity. Between them, J'iura and Dannath have accumulated enough bumps, bruises, scars, and scrapes to be shared amongst a clan of barbarian marauders. Neither regret their life up to this point, however, and they look forward to the future with something akin to avid curiosity and anticipation.

Description:
Of relatively slight stature and build, J'iura suits the role of a dragonrider the same way a fish suits walking on land. He hasn't had an easy time with his profession, but both he and his dragon have succeeded, and he has great pride in his dragons' success. He has a fine network of scars and burn marks from his weyrlinghood, but most are not visible unless he's topless and has gotten his summer tan. His hair is usually a mix between a very dark auburn and a lighter rusty brown, with the variation depending on how much time his head has spent out from beneath his helmet. Due to his slight frame, he has a habit of wearing clothing that makes him appear bigger. He tans easily enough, like most Pernese, but due to spending most of his days inside or beneath layers of clothing, his skin tone is a creamy sort of gold. His eyes are a stormy gray-blue, which doesn't do much for his face, but he wouldn't have himself any other way. He is quite comfortable with himself (barring having to call for help whenever something heavy needs to be moved) and generally approaches the inadequacies of his build with a glib remark about being able to out-dance just about anyone.



Personality:
Lackadaisical, free-spirited, sometimes a bit of an anit-hero, and not overly impressed with himself or with others. He's got a set of morals somewhere beneath his lazy grin and bored eyes, but you'd have to be his dragon or his wingmate to see them. He's a tinkerer by birth, and loves to mess with just about anything he can get his hands on... be it mechanical or emotional. While he is by no means a master manipulator, J'iura does have a little bit of a sadistic side that lends itself to him having a bit of fun pranking those he knows from time to time.

He works surprisingly well with others when he has too, and is quite happy to sit back and let the more ambitious ones work themselves into a lather for the approval of their superiors. He is a big fan of working smarter, not harder, and is (surprisingly) one of the first ones done when assigned a task. Although that wouldn't be as surprising if one takes into consideration that J'iura is not so lazy that he wants to be reprimanded for it. Dragging ones' self to the Wingleader (or Weyrleader, should the situation call for it) is far more work then simply doing the task the first time around. So he rides well enough, and asks only what he knows both himself and his dragon are capable of.

When it comes to socializing, he considers most everyone he's met once an acquaintance, and anyone he's met more then three times and will continue to run into a friend. Not that that means he'll trust everyone he meets with the deep dark secrets of his deeply mysterious past, (as if he has one) that just means he doesn't put a whole lot of stock in the word 'friend.' He's got a remarkable memory for faces, though sometimes names elude him, and will shamelessly call on just about anyone for a favor. He doesn't need a reason behind this, and he has been known to ask for something only to change his mind at the end. Vexing, but that is just how J'iura rolls. He goes with the current, and is not above messing with over-exuberant candidates and weyrlings who are out to impress an older dragonrider.

Other: Will have a bronze flit named Paako once approved. Unlike Dannath and J'iura, Paako is probably the only being in this triage with a genuine work ethic. The little bronze is a positively charged energizer bunny, and has enough charisma to fuel a political campaign.

Where J'iura is slight and fragile, the fully fledged Dannath is anything but. He is built heavily for his color, with larger bones and an overall huskier look. Few would find him 'pretty,' not that he cares, his patterns (while dizzying to some who watch him from below) suit his personality rather well. "Burly" is perhaps the best word to describe him, and those bands on his wings and legs certainly don't help to hide that fact!

Personality:

Dannath is a tough character to pin down in a conversation. He's evasive to a fault, preferring solitude over companionship, and is just as elusive on the wing. He appears to enjoy wrapping an aura of mystery about himself, though it is often his rider who spoils the mood with a well aimed tease at his expense. All told, the black dragon is a stoic sort. He's got a sense of humor (or else he wouldn't be able to deal with J'iura!) but he doesn't go out of his way to comment on things that are not directly related to him. He hates to be bullied around, and given his burly build, few would bother trying to get him to budge anyway. He's easy enough to persuade though, usually a fat wherry or two will do the trick.

He grows bored with others' company easily, and has a perpetually exhausted look on his face when dealing with any dragon outside of his wing. Not that he cares overly much about what his wingmates think of him either, but J'iura's opinion matters... and Dannath will never do anything to disappoint his rider. He's trained hard with his rider to be able to fly well when the time comes, and he will do anything to make sure he meets J'iura's expectations.


The Pair:

Together, most might consider J'iura and Dannath to be 'that lazy pair' but they are surprisingly well suited. Dannath is not one for having anyone order him around, and J'iura is more then happy to let Dannath do the flying. Their respective strengths suit one another, and while they don't always make up for each others weaknesses, they make a good run of it and usually end up somewhere near the top.

Personality:

Paako is a worrywart. Be it Dannath, J'iura, or just about anything he's grown attached too, he will constantly worry and fawn over it until he is satisfied all is well. Of course, figuring out when Paako is satisfied is something of an on-going mystery to his human... but J'iura tends to keep his humor and usually refers to the bronze as 'a gold lizard with male parts.' Thankfully, Paako doesn't understand the visual that usually accompanies the joke.

History:

Impressed to J'iura mostly on accident ( the blackrider wasn't supposed to be on that particular beach that day.) He emerged from his egg amidst a pile of siblings without a care in the world besides his hunger, and though he was fed by his golden mother and her entourage, he managed to wander too far off from the nest in the confusion. Resting nearby, Dannath picked up the distressed images from the young firelizard and woke his rider. J'iura found Paako not too far from his nest, though the queen had already taken off with those youngsters that survived, and after feeding and Impressing the little bronze, tried to save the rest of the abandoned hatchlings to no avail.

Since then, Paako has been glued to J'iura like a second head, and has served as the de facto cheering squad for the dragonrider pair in the mornings when neither want to wake up.

G'an runs a tight ship. He expects perfection and devotion and has an intelligence to match. He believes rivalry is a healthy incentive in developing abilities but also values the comraderie of the wing. As such, the member of the wing can bicker and love as they like but it all better culminate in some sharding good flying or he'll have your hide - and he's not afraid to pull rank on you if you get too out of line, and that's a place you definitely don't want to be. Your loyalty is to your Weyr and then your Wing, end of story. It's been said he's got a fairly militant attitude but there's no denying the riders he shapes are both capable and well rounded - after all, you can't completely trust or respect someone if you don't know their good and bad sides, right?
