because I said vampires don't sparkle. She responded by asking how I knew that, and that they are fictional characters and that I need professional help. I told her if she knew it was just a flippin' book and that perhaps she needs professional help if she would tell someone that just because they don't care for Twilight. She then said nothing.

hmm, intresting you actually got one to shut up. besides if vampires are real or not isn't the issue, the idea that would sparkle is rediculious.

Would it be sad if I said this is not the first time I've heard of something being told they need 'mental help' for disliking Twilight? -_-

Ha, PWND.
I personally think the whole "It's fictional" remark does not work. Fictional creatures or not, Vampires do have guidelines that have been a part of our culture for generation upon generation. They are dark, unholy creatures and therefore burn in the sunlight, aka, the light of God. The light of God does not make them freakin' sparkle. That would actually suggest that they are holy creatures. To which Eddykins would sob and say, "Nuuu I'm a monster, BAAAH"
And then there's the hypocrisy of a Twitard even USING that excuse; if it's just fiction...why the hell do they go batshit over it and fly off the handle whenever someone would question whether a Vampire sparkles or not?
UGH, unintentional rant is unintentional.
Also, I find it very, VERY sad when I hear about English teachers who think Twilight is TEH s**t. Just...Augh. These are the people who are supposed to be hooking us up with GOOD literature. Not random a**-spewings from a Mormon hack who can't write romance worth a damn.

If it makes you feel better, I'll tell you a little story about yesterday.
I went to Borders looking for Richard Dawkins books. As I was entering my search into the computer a teenaged girl walked by, followed by an employee. She was looking for a Twilight movie and the employee was helping her. When he was free I turned around and said, "You shouldn't be encouraging that. Twilight is so unhealthy." He totally agreed, and was happy to know there are sensible teenaged girls like me.
The end!

These are the people who are supposed to be hooking us up with GOOD literature. Not random a**-spewings from a Mormon hack who can't write romance worth a damn. I know. Supposedly, a ton of the english teachers at my school love Twilight. Luckily, I've never had any of them. 'Course my school district has us read stuff involving rape most of the time. I'm all for reading classics, but at times it seems like whoever picks the curiculum, has a creepy rape fetish or something.
