Well I'm not very good at helping people with anything but I'm going to try. Well I'm catholic but I noticed some things about my religion not to long ago(last week xd ) that I don't like, for instance we pray to saints but I find that to be wrong because the bible says God wants us to pray to him and no one else because all the glory belongs to God and no one else which is true and I want to make God happy.

You can switch over to any religion as long as you only believe on one God and that is God himself. I'm not catholic so I won't say you can or can't. You just_have to pray for God to forgive and accept you (Which he 99.9% would) then give your life back to God. That's all he wants. Besides, it doesn't matter about what kind of religion you are as long as you're a Christian and you give your life back to God. Good luck to you too cause it ain't easy. God bless you.

Esperanza Cielo Gonzales I was raised evangelist, but over the years I have grown closer to my Mexican side of the family, which are Catholic. Can I change from evangelist to catholic? As long as you remain under the banner of Christianity, I believe you should remain in good graces with the Mexican side of your family. You should always keep the happiness of God [and not the happiness of human beings] as your first priority. Please God, not man. Besides, there are numerous false practices in Catholicism: http://www.gotquestions.org/catholicism.html http://www.gotquestions.org/Catholic-Biblical.html http://www.gotquestions.org/Catholic-Christian.html Hope these help. I recommend you remain Evangelical. To be an Evangelist is God's highest calling to you, for you undertake the duty to spread the Gospel to the unbeliveving and deliver the sinners to our truthful religion. Stay the course and do God's work my friend! smile

I must admit that I know little about Catholics and its beliefs, but I want to encourage you to stay true to the Savior and continue to walk with God. That is what I believe true Christianity is all about. I don't think Christianity is a religion, but more of a faith and a relationship with the Father. If you allow me, I would like to post some of my thoughts about Christianity and how the Bible describes it.
First, where did religion come from? I will give a little example of what I mean that Christianity is not a religion. I like to call this. "The Story of the Lamb."
A few thousand years ago, right after Adam and Eve, Cain made a sacrifice unto God by giving fruits and vegetables while Able sacrifice a young lamb unto the Lord. Why wasn't Cain's sacrifice acceptable unto the Lord while Able's was? I believe that because Cain has to work for the fruits and vegetables, while Able offered up the most perfect lamb of his flock.
That is how religion is compared to Chrstianity. Religion is what I call, "Work-out Salvation", while Christianity is that the lamb that was sacrificed for our sins already. We cannot work our way to Heaven. We cannot please the Lord with works unless we accept His Son as a living sacrifice and a living testament in our lives. It says, "We are saved, by faith"
By faith? Faith in who or what? By putting our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that He has died in our place, and was raised from the dead. Let me rephrased that a little differently. He died for our sins. He bought and paid for us by dying on the cross because a sacrifice was needed to set mankind free from sin. And if we put our faith in the One who died for us, we can overcome the wicked one.
I believe it doesn't matter too much of what religion we are. I believe there are born-again Catholics, born-again Muslims, and so forth. I believe the Lord will not judge us by the religion that we are in. I do not think He will even see us as "Christians." I believe that He will look for the lamb that whose blood that blotted out our sins.
In the final judgement day, it says that whosoever is not found in the book of life shall be cast into the everlasting fire. He will judge us by works, because in Revelation said that the books will open and will judge the wicked ones. Noticed that the books are plural, meaning more than one.
I believe that there are 2 types of books. 1 type is many and many books, recording our sinful deed, and the other kind will have the names of His people in there. And here is the most impressing thing, when we are covered by the Blood of the Lamb, the Lord will forget all of our sins.
So my belief is that it doesn't matter if you are in a different religion. Religion, I believe, is separation of the Church. Yes, we may have some small doctrines that we may differ on, but if we are truly been washed in the Blood of Jesus and we have the assurance of Salvation, why would we change our "Religion" if we are apart of the family of God?

evangelical and catholic aren't two different religions, they are both denominations of Christinity, so you wouldn't really be changing your religion. you would still have the same basic belief: that Jesus died to save us from our sins. you would just have different doctrinal beliefs; different beliefs on how to show your faith and worship and all that. but what you need to consider is not just what your heritage says to believe. you need to pray a lot and look inside your heart and figure out what denomination enables you personal to glorify God to the best of your ability, and which denomination strengthens your relationship with God.

Catholics do not pray to saints. We pray with them because we believe that they are in heaven and are closer to god so that they can help us out by praying with us.

The main difference between Catholicism and Christianity is that the Catholic Bible has books that Jesus never stated were canon and over the years all the bishops and cardinals and popes have adjusted biblical doctrine. I would say that Catholicism is a religion that is separate from Christianity because Catholicism has a ton of rules and regulations (which makes it similar to Judaism) while Christianity only has one rule, Love God and Love People.

But the Gospels of Mathew Mark Luke and John were written by eye witnesses or confirmed by eye witnesses of Jesus' resurrection. Also they were written before AD 62, more 30 years after the event. The Gospels of Peter was written more than 100 years after Christ's resurrection making it a legend and not historical document.
Also the Catholic Bible New Testament is the same, its the Old testament that has documents added to it.
