The Gospel

A lot of people think you can get to heaven based on your good deeds, and this simply isn't true! God's standard is perfection. if you are below the standard, then you are under God's judgement. if you have ever broken any of the 10 commandments (lie, steal, etc), then you are guilty.

so what does this mean? now you have to work yourself to death trying to earn God's favor? no. don't even try, you've already failed at being perfect. so then how can you get to heaven?

by trusting in Jesus' sacrifice. God sent his son Jesus Christ to live a morally perfect life here on earth, something we could never do. when He died on the cross, He took the punishment that we deserved for our sins. He faced God's wrath. 3 days later He rose again, proving that He was both God and man. and all we need to do is repent (Turn to God) and trust in that sacrifice. No matter what you've done, how far you've gone away from him, turn to him, he is faithful to forgive and mighty to save, just trust in Christ, God commands all men to repent and believe, to flee from the wrath to come. So come to him so that you would have life.

Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (NASB)
