Yeah. I smoke.

Trying to quit though.

And I don't really want to admit that weaning yourself off of em doesn't work. Been trying it.

And then there's those times when s**t happens, and you just reallllllly need to smoke. D:

But amidst it all I am trying to quit. Just, by my own actions as of late I just reaaaaaaaaally need that nicotine to get through the day sometimes.

Anyways. Anybody have any helpful advice?

If you have the cash, go for one o' them "e cigarettes"
You still get the nicotine, but you don't get all the rest of the crap that's in cigarettes. Plus, you can get cool flavors, and you won't spend as much in he long run.

But i'm not condoning smoking them. D:<

Kids, don't smoke.

As an OCD so-and-so with a highly addictive personality, sometimes the best way is to distract yourself with a more positive addiction.

I don't smoke, so my only applicable analogy would be biting my nails. I decided to pick up the habit of constantly filing them instead, and it worked for a while. Then I got sick of it and now I have mysteriously natural nails of iron. eek

Of course the first answer for smokers is to eat, and then complain that they gain weight. Maybe getting addicted to tea would be helpful. 3nodding

I've heard the gum itself is addictive and nasty, and patches just sound like an awful idea. D:

Looks like I'll be doing this cold turkey when I do.

My mom quit. Why?

She cleaned the house ALL day. Not one cig. Just clean up your place to perfection for a day, then tell yourself, "Hey, I didn't smoke today!". Then eat. A lot.

Well... I'm kind a social smoker, but that's about it.

I hit up hookah bars every few weeks with friends, have a good cigar once in a blue moon and have a cig when I'm un-sober while raving, and occasionally a "morning after menthol"

but I'm not really not much of a smoker... It's easy for me though cause I've been a hardcore athlete since I was hella little

Well, good luck. I quit drinking caffenaited beverages in early December. I quit cold turkey. It was really hard. I used to drink about five cans of Cola a day. Now, all I drink is water. I feel much better than I used to. I am less irritable and the like. If you do use nicotine patches/gum you need to talk to a doctor. I heard that you were only supposed to use them for x amount of months. You really will feel like you have achieved something when you no longer crave it. Trust me, it was a worthwhile decision.

It's all about willpower.
Happened to my dad. Smoked a lot before he met my mom, then a day after they got together, he quit.
Hasn't smoked since.
