So I've noticed that in the forums, the Twilight fangirling has decreased a bit, and there are a significantly increased quantity of Percy Jackson and the Olympians fangirls. If this trend continues, I think PJ and the Olympians may replace Twilight as the teen craze of choice. Thank God. here's why I think this is a good thing: 1) I don't know a ton about PJ and the Olympians, but I do know it has a legit, cool storyline. Compare to Twilight. 'Nuff said. 2) The dude who plays Percy (Logan Lerman, I think it is) is kind of cute, and I can see why people are fangirling about him xD. Compare to Edward (Pattinson) and Jacob (Lautner). Again, 'nuff said. 3) Almost anything would be better than Twilight. It's about time Meyer faced reality and understood her silly series of books is just a fad. (Not that PJ won't be a fad xD but I think it may have more staying power than Twilight.)
Your opinions are welcome. 3nodding

Yeah, I've noticed those books are getting popular in my school. I liked the movie, and now I can't wait to read the book. So, yeah, definitely better than Twilight. :3

That series looks good and I want to read it. But you know twitards are still going to be around...the ones that think Twilight is the only literature worth reading at least.
But maybe this Percy Jackson thing won't be so bad...

Oh, don't even talk to me about the movie. It's a wonderfully written book, I tore through them at 100 pages a day. (VERY out of my book reading self to read that much each day.) But the movie? No, just no. It barely followed the story of the book and was cast horribly for most of them. But yes I can see from my school it's getting popular I see about 2/3 copies a day. It's good to see my student body reading something good for a change. It probably won't get as popular as Twilight was though. If you can't tell I'm a big fan.
tl:dr Great book, horrible movie. It is gaining popularity, but it won't be as big as Twilight was/is.

They fad will return when Eclipse come close to it's release date unfortunately. Fads move in waves. Haven't you noticed that whenever Harry Potter comes out you get the same Twilighters morphing into gushing Rowling fans?

Ugh. That Olympians thing? Mythology is just FINE how it is, and now they have to slather it in tween appeal? I hate children's books. So. Much.

Love the books. Was excited when I heard about the movie. Saw the movie. The movie was nothing like the book. They added things that had pretty much nothing to do with the book, and took out things that were very important to the book's plot. I'd hate to see Percy Jackson turned into a fangirl thing.

Meh if it's better than hazardous twitards, I am cool with it.
Imagine if Morganville Vampires became that popular. Now THAT is a good series.

Sauce Control Ugh. That Olympians thing? Mythology is just FINE how it is, and now they have to slather it in tween appeal? I hate children's books. So. Much. Thank God a like minded person here. I agree with Sauce. Hollywood really doesn't need to ******** with Greek Mythology by adding tweens. Seriously, wtf was with that line from the trailor, "The Gods are angry"? Really? So am I to assume that every time it rains that the Greek Gods are pissed? Because that's pretty much what was going on in the trailor. There was a news update about "This is the worst storm to hit New York in years" which is what news anchors all across the country say each rain season but some how it translates into Gods being angry this one time. And really, the son of Poseidon is going to save us? Really, how? By drowning everyone that comes his way? Thanks son of Poseidon! You just made the Global Warming issue worse! It's the equivalent of Aquaman coming to save the world when Superman and Batman are nowhere to be found. The only reason why it's gaining popularity is because the guy that directed Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone directed Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It's just a poor man's Harry Potter but Hollywood was smart enough to figure this out and pander it to the uber HP fans that have nothing to clamor around since Twilight made it's debut. Argue all you want, you're not going to sway me from this thinking.

I'm more offended by the fact that the token 'super gurl' of that Tween tale (for now at least) is the daughter of Athena, one of the sworn VIRGIN, ******** Goddesses of Olympus alongside Artemis and Heista. Way to go man, way to go.... -_- Athena was such a bad assed in Greek Mythology too.

While the book series is quite good, the movie is nothing compared to it. The movie made up too much bull, it misses characters who are really important in later books/possible movies if it doesn't bust, and gets too many characterizations wrong for me to actually like.
In other words, for those who have not gotten into the series, read the books, avoid the movies at all costs.

Oh, yes! I hope it becomes the new fad. I'm not very interested, but from what I know it's much better than Twifail. My friend Laura (she's such a cute little intellectual! ^_^) read the series and tells me it's pretty interesting. I know it's super Gary Stu, but Gary Stu is better than anti-feminist!
I do hope it gathers a lot of fans, though, to detract from the Twitarditude. Imagine, Twilight: a thing of the past!! Maybe I could be happy again. biggrin
