Battling With Chakra
Last Updated: February 19th, 2010 (by Cobra_X) (...with a lot of help from Deil Grist)
Update Log: 1. February 17th, Adopted the new system. 2. February 18th, Added Curse Mark and Bijuu modifiers. 3. February 19th, Added Bloodline modifiers. 4. February 19th, Added Bloodline modifiers - (Uchiha and Hyuuga). 5. February 21st, Added Bloodline Modifiers - (Kurama)
Rules:
1) After reading this sign name in a post stating you read the battle system.
2) In general, ninja of lower rank and young age cannot beat those who are older or of higher ranks. Older ninja have more Chakra as they have trained more, unless certain circumstances are in place. Higher ranked ninja have more, or slightly more chakra since they have trained more (which is why they are of higher rank and stronger than the lower ranks in the first place).
Basically, this system is being set in place to provide realism to the number of jutsu a ninja can used based off of what we know from the Naruto series. A Genin, in general, simply does not have the same chakra capacity of a Chuunin, and is at a FRACTION of the power of a Kage. If a Genin has more experienced role playing skill, he or she can still beat a Kage, but for realism within the genre, we are limiting the number of techniques a Genin can use before they deplete their chakra reserves, as well as doing the same for all the ranks.
3) Our system is points based. Every rank will have a certain number of 'Chakra Points' available to them at their rank per day. Every technique will have a set cost, and when your RPC uses a technique, the cost of the technique will be subtracted from your total 'Chakra Points' for the day, limiting the number of jutsu you can use for the rest of the day.
4) Certain aspects of a person's Strengths/Weaknesses will determine how much chakra they have to use, so the position of your Strengths and Weaknesses within your RPC's profile do matter. The same varying effects apply to certain Bloodlines, Curse Marks, and of course, Bijuu Hosts as well. The tables below will show a normal shinobi's total, and modifiers will be outlined and explained in the .
Jutsu - Point Costs: ( *refer to 'Modifiers' sections for added detail)
Academy Level (E-ranked Techniques) - 2 points
Genin Level (D-ranked Techniques) - 3 points
Chuunin Level (C-ranked Techniques) - 5 points
Low Jounin Level (B-ranked Techniques) - 7 points
Upper Jounin Level (A-ranked Techniques) - 9 points
Sannin/Kage Level (S-ranked Techniques) - 20 points
Ninja Ranks - Total Chakra Points /per day): ( *refer to 'Modifiers' sections for added detail)
Genin: 25 ...(refer to chart below to see how many jutsu of each level this is.)
E Ranked Techniques: 12 D Ranked Techniques: 8 C Ranked Techniques: 5 B Ranked Techniques: 3 A Ranked Techniques: 1 S Ranked Techniques: 0
...these numbers are based off of the maximum number of jutsu of one rank that a Genin could use if they used nothing but that type of technique. Naturally, if a Genin used a B-rank technique, it would reduce the total number of jutsu he can use for the rest of the day. (If the number at the end looks funny, it should. No Genin would realistically have enough chakra to utilize an S-ranked technique. Saying they could use an A-rank technique is pushing it, so I reduced the numbers for realism.)
[Example: A Genin uses a C-rank technique, followed by 2 D-rank techniques. The total cost of those techniques together is 11 points. This leaves the Genin with only 14 more points to spend for the rest of the day.]
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chuunin: 40 ...(refer to chart below to see how many jutsu of each level this is.)
E Ranked Techniques: 20 D Ranked Techniques: 13 C Ranked Techniques: 8 B Ranked Techniques: 5 A Ranked Techniques: 4 S Ranked Techniques: 1
...these numbers are based off of the maximum number of jutsu of one rank that a Chuunin could use if they used nothing but that type of technique. Naturally, if a Chuunin used an A-rank technique, it would reduce the total number of jutsu he can use for the rest of the day. (If the number at the end looks funny, it should. No Chuunin would realistically have enough chakra to utilize 2 S-ranked technique. Saying they could use even one is pushing it, so I reduced the numbers for realism.)
[Example: A Chuunin uses a A-rank technique, followed by 2 C-rank techniques. The total cost of those techniques together is 19 points. This leaves the Chuunin with only 21 more points to spend for the rest of the day.]
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Special Jounin: 60 ...(refer to chart below to see how many jutsu of each level this is.)
E Ranked Techniques: 30 D Ranked Techniques: 20 C Ranked Techniques: 12 B Ranked Techniques: 8 A Ranked Techniques: 6 S Ranked Techniques: 2
These numbers are based off of the maximum number of jutsu of one rank that a Special Jounin could use if they used nothing but that type of technique. Naturally, if a Special Jounin used an S-rank technique, it would reduce the total number of jutsu he can use for the rest of the day. (If the number at the end looks funny, it should. The number of S-ranked jutsu allowed per day for a Special Jounin was reduced for realism.)
[Example: A Special Jounin uses an S-rank technique, followed by 2 B-rank techniques. The total cost of those techniques together is 34 points. This leaves the Chuunin with only 26 more points to spend for the rest of the day.]
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Jounin: 85 ...(refer to chart below to see how many jutsu of each level this is.)
E Ranked Techniques: 42 D Ranked Techniques: 28 C Ranked Techniques: 17 B Ranked Techniques: 12 A Ranked Techniques: 9 S Ranked Techniques: 3
These numbers are based off of the maximum number of jutsu of one rank that a Jounin could use if they used nothing but that type of technique. Naturally, if a Jounin used an S-rank technique, it would reduce the total number of jutsu he can use for the rest of the day. (If the number at the end looks funny, it should. The number of S-ranked jutsu allowed per day for a Jounin was reduced for realism.)
[Example: A Jounin uses 2 S-rank technique, followed by 2 A-rank techniques. The total cost of those techniques together is 58 points. This leaves the Chuunin with only 27 more points to spend for the rest of the day.]
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sannin/Kage: 120 ...(refer to chart below to see how many jutsu of each level this is.)
E Ranked Techniques: 60 D Ranked Techniques: 40 C Ranked Techniques: 24 B Ranked Techniques: 17 A Ranked Techniques: 13 S Ranked Techniques: 5
These numbers are based off of the maximum number of jutsu of one rank that a Sannin/Kage could use if they used nothing but that type of technique. Naturally, if a Sannin/Kage used an S-rank technique, it would reduce the total number of jutsu he can use for the rest of the day. (If the number at the end looks funny, it should. Even for a Kage, using multiple S-ranked techniques in a day would be an incredible drain on their chakra considering the immensity of such techniques, so the number was slightly reduced for purposes of realism.)
[Example: A Sannin/Kage uses 3 S-rank technique, followed by 4 B-rank techniques. The total cost of those techniques together is 96 points. This leaves the Sannin/Kage with only 24 more points to spend for the rest of the day.]

Modifiers: Strengths and Weaknesses There are many aspects of a Shinobi including aspects of training, natural talent, genetic advantages, and even unnatural, or supernatural means by which a ninja's abilities are enhanced or affected. Naturally, such differences create varying levels of ability and augment or hinder a ninja's chakra levels. The modifiers mentioned below explain how certain aspects of a character's traits will affect a user's total chakra points, or even how many chakra points are spent when using a technique.
Strength/Weakness: High Chakra Reserves
Certain Ninja Classes within the guild allow for the option of giving your character particularly high chakra reserves to help augment your character's ability to use jutsu. Depending on whether this trait is your Primary, Secondary, or Tertiary strength, you will receive a modified bonus to your total chakra point allotment for the day. Conversely, if you have a Weakness which denotes low chakra reserves, your total chakra point allotment for the day will be decreased.
Primary Strength : +5 chakra points/10 max chakra points
Secondary Strength : +3 chakra points/10 max chakra points
Tertiary Strength : +1 chakra points/10 max chakra points
Primary Weakness : -4 chakra points/10 max chakra points
Secondary weakness : -2 chakra points/10 max chakra points
[Example: If a Chuunin has the 'High Chakra Reserves' strength as his Secondary strength, we calculate his new chakra points total like so...
A normal Chuunin has a maximum of 40 chakra points a day. If we apply the secondary strength, we get: +3 chakra points/10 max chakra points, and since he has 40 max chakra points, that adds 12 chakra points to his total, which means he has 52 chakra points/day. This equates to...
E Ranked Techniques: 26 (as opposed to the 'normal' of 20 ) D Ranked Techniques: 17 (as opposed to the 'normal' of 13 ) C Ranked Techniques: 10 (as opposed to the 'normal' of 8 ) B Ranked Techniques: 6 (as opposed to the 'normal' of 5 ) A Ranked Techniques: 5 (as opposed to the 'normal' of 4 ) S Ranked Techniques: (stays the same)
...if the math confuses you, just ask Cobra, Deil, or some other math-qualified person for help, but it shouldn't be that difficult.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Strength/Weakness: Great Chakra Control
As was described in one of the earliest episodes of Naruto, a ninja's ability to control their chakra flow is directly dependant on how taxing a jutsu's effect is on a user. As such, if a user has chosen the 'Great Chakra Control' strength, they are able to more efficiently use the chakra they have and thus reduce the total chakra cost of a jutsu. Conversely, if you have Poor Chakra Control, it takes more chakra then normal to produce the same effect of a jutsu that a normal ninja would require.
Primary Strength : -1 chakra point cost of all Genin techniques, -2 for all Chuunin techniques, -3 for all Jounin, and -5 for all Kage.
Secondary Strength : -1 chakra point cost of all Genin techniques, -2 for all Chuunin, Jounin, and Kage techniques.
Tertiary Strength : -1 chakra point cost of all Genin, Chuunin, Jounin, and Kage techniques.
Primary Weakness : +2 chakra point cost for all Genin and Chuunin techniques, and +3 for all Jounin and Kage techniques.
Secondary Weakness : +1 chakra points for all Genin and Chuunin techniques, and +2 for all Jounin and Kage techniques.
[Example: If a Jounin has the 'Great Chakra control' strength as his Secondary strength, we calculate the cost of her jutsu like so...
Let's say the Jounin uses 3 B-rank techniques and 2 D-rank techniques... Normally, this would cost 27 chakra points (3x7 + 2x3).
After applying the chakra control reductions however, each B-rank technique is 2 points cheaper, and each D-rank is 1 point cheaper, which gives us, (3x5 + 2x2) ...which equals 19 points.
...if the math confuses you, just ask Cobra, Deil, or some other math-qualified person for help, but it shouldn't be that difficult.

Naturally, such differences create varying levels of ability and augment or hinder a ninja's chakra levels. The modifiers mentioned below explain how certain aspects of a character's traits will affect a user's total chakra points, or even how many chakra points are spent when using a technique.
---------------------------------------------------------
Uchiha Clan - [Link to Bloodline]
Uchiha Clan members are innately tied to the Katon element and tend to favor it highly. Whether or not they choose to accept it, their bloodline is tied to the Katon element and as such, have an innate ability to utilize the techniques more easily then others.
Bonus: -1 chakra point cost on all Fire-type (Katon) jutsu.
---------------------------------------------------------
Hyuuga Clan - [Link to Bloodline]
Due to their specialized taijutsu training and their ability to sense and understand chakra through the Byakugan, Hyuuga Clan members have developed a great ability to control their own chakra and use it more efficiently. As such, they are able to reduce the cost of all chakra based techniques due to their innate and trained control. This bonus comes in addition to any other chakra control reduction they may already have, but cannot reduce the cost of a jutsu below 1 chakra point.
Bonus: -2 chakra point cost on all jutsu.
---------------------------------------------------------
Mind's Eye of the Kagura - [Link to Bloodline]
Due to their excellent chakra control, members of this bloodline are able to utilize all jutsu more efficiently then others, reducing their chakra point cost. This bonus comes in addition to any other chakra control reduction they may already have, but cannot reduce the cost of a jutsu below 1 chakra point.
Bonus: -1 chakra point cost on all jutsu.
---------------------------------------------------------
Kurama Clan - [Link to Bloodline]
Due to their natural affinity for Genjutsu and their highly specialized dependence on it, the Kurama clan has become especially efficient in their use of chakra when utilizing genjutsu. This bonus comes in addition to any other chakra control reduction they may already have, but cannot reduce the cost of a jutsu below 1 chakra point.
Bonus: -2 chakra point cost on all Genjutsu techniques.
---------------------------------------------------------
Ukyohan Clan - [Link to Bloodline]
Due to their ultimate control over chakra, members of this bloodline are able to utilize all jutsu much more efficiently then others, reducing their chakra point cost. This bonus comes in addition to any other chakra control reduction they may already have, but cannot reduce the cost of a jutsu below 1 chakra point.
Bonus: -2 chakra point cost on all jutsu.
---------------------------------------------------------
Supekutoru Annaiyaku - [Link to Bloodline]
Due to their ghost's continuous growth with them, members of this clan receive a chakra point boost at every rank, giving them a total chakra point bonus equal to that of the next level above it. The extra chakra points are gained as soon as the new rank comes into effect.
Bonus: +X total chakra points per promotion (as shown below)
On achieving Genin --> User's Total Chakra Points = 40
On achieving Chuunin --> User's Total Chakra Points = 60
On achieving Special Jounin --> User's Total Chakra Points = 85
On achieving Jounin --> User's Total Chakra Points = 120
On achieving Sannin/Kage --> User's Total Chakra Points = 160
---------------------------------------------------------
Konaga Clan - [Link to Bloodline]
Due to the sheer immensity of chakra which flows through their bodies, saturating ever cell, a Konaga clan member essentially has double the amount of total chakra points of the average shinobi at their rank. However, despite having excellent chakra control, the pain associated with utilizing their chakra negates any chakra point reduction, as it is focused more so on not tearing their bodies apart as they utilize their incredibly pure, yet destructive chakra.
Bonus: +X total chakra points per promotion (as shown below)
On achieving Genin --> User's Total Chakra Points = 50
On achieving Chuunin --> User's Total Chakra Points = 80
On achieving Special Jounin --> User's Total Chakra Points = 120
On achieving Jounin --> User's Total Chakra Points = 170
On achieving Sannin/Kage --> User's Total Chakra Points = 240
