Name: Carter Martin Nicknames: N/A Age: 16 17 18 Birthday: January 27th Sign: Aquarius Blood Type: B+ Fav. Food: Alfredo Pasta Hated Food: Peaches and peach flavored anything. School: Meadowview Hobbies:Beneath the Big Top: Well, not really. Even though Carter's given up the idea of running away and joining the circus (who wants to clean up after an Elephant anyway?), he still likes the shows they do. From juggling to acrobatics, Carter likes to watch videos of these and try them out himself, just because they look cool and are fun to do. Except the tight-rope -- the neighbors keep screaming and calling 911 when he tries to practice that. Monkey See, Monkey Do: If someone does something that catches Carter's eye, they have his full attention. After observing, Carter can be seem trying to replicate the actions until he has it down perfectly. He's managed to pick up a couple tricks from street performers and dancers this way, which are often incorporated into his own skating tricks with little to some success. Skateboarding: Denied the option of getting a car, too cheap for the bus, and tired of having his bike stolen again and again has resulted in Carter investing in a skateboard. It’s eco-friendly, free, and it’s easy to pop out a few tricks to impress people! Besides, it makes him look cool. Sometimes. Striking a pose and showing off only to run into a mailbox that suddenly popped out in front of him isn’t as fun as seeing someone else suffer the same fate. Studying: The least favorite way for Carter to past the time, it's a necessary evil. Carter spends an extra one to two hours a day after school with a tutor (a teacher with extra time to kill or with another student wanting to get some extra credit) going over his notes for the day, organizing and compiling them in a way that makes sense to Carter. 'Just writing it down' doesn't help the boy. He needs examples, either from pictures or links to videos on YouTube. If possible, he'll even ask for his tutor to surprise him with pop quizzes and practice exams! Thankfully, he isn't dyslexic to the point of being unable to read. Reading is just fine and dandy -- it's all about understanding exactly WHAT he's reading that gives him trouble. I Wanna Be the Guy: No, not the painful indie video game. Rather, Carter works to perfect his street-side tricks and antics to get noticed. He knows that he's not good at math or reading, placing him at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to finding a job that can eventually lead into a career. Instead, Carter wants his actions to prove his worth rather than a resume with words that amount to nothing. He aspires to be an acrobat one day, performing live in front of hundreds, no, thousands of people on a stage! To do that, though, he needs to develop THE trick to get HIS name out there, to get noticed. So grab the skateboard and go out in public -- the world's a stage, and it's just a matter of time before Carter finds his spotlight! ...Also, keep in mind that the word "acrobat" here is used to describe a member of the Cirque du Soleil troupe, a sort of circus that doesn't include animals but instead really amazing feats of strength, bravery, and use of fishing wires. =D Gemstone: Amethyst (Zodiac Sign), Garnet (January Stone) Virtues: Adaptable: Is the sun shining? Awesome. Rain? Great. Raining meatballs? Give him a second to go find a bowl to put them in. Carter's lax attitude towards life allows him to shrug off life's little sudden surprises and move on as if nothing has happened. While he may still be shocked and startled by the unexpected, he recovers quickly. Determined: When in doubt, try and try again. Once a challenge is set before him, Carter refuses to yield or give up until he has accomplished what he intends to do. Even if he has to change his goal bit by bit to accomplish it, he likes to believe that "can't" is a word that doesn't exist. Getting His Hands Dirty: Carter learns best by going out and doing it, rather than reading about it. He can also pick up skills by watching someone else, but if and only if he too has an opportunity to mimic the actions. With this, he can re-enact movie scenes in a snap -- just be sure to give him some help with those pesky lines. In school, Carter is the first to volunteer in gym to show off how to jump (or fail) the high jump, mix this chemical with that, or even be the first one to peek into this hole here that looks into the girl's locker room. Flaws: Daredevil: "Push the limits!" just happens to be the motto Carter lives his life by. When a new physical challenge arises, he's among the first to check it out and consider taking it on. Just don't ask him to do something like a Monster Cookie Pinwheel. While Carter loves the thrill of challenges, he does have common sense. What's the point of doing an awesome trick only to end up getting killed or seriously injured? His idea of success is to complete a trick in a way that he can walk away from it. Getting injured is an automatic failure. You can't skateboard with a broken leg! Kinesthetic Learner: If asked to sit down and read a book, Carter will take his time, often flipping forward in the book and taking a look at the pictures before trying to tackle the walls of text. If asked to listen to an audio tape, Carter would either break the tape due to rewinding again and again to listen to it multiple times, or fall asleep. Carter learns best by hands-on, resulting in barely-passing grades and lots of after-school tutoring. Show off: Carter likes attention. Whizzing down the street on a skateboard isn’t anything new, but skateboarding down the street while doing a handstand? How about doing that AND trying to balance on one hand! YEEEEEAH! Sounds awesome, right? Well, that idiot that just tried doing exactly that just ended up crashing into that café table over there. Please excuse Carter while he goes to pick up his dignity and hide around the street corner. Physical Description: Hair: Metalic blue-green, spikey and seemingly out of control. Eyes: Olive green Face: Long, no blemishes. Wears a small golden hoop on each ear. Body: Lean with two scars on his right side. He has muscle and can successfully perform a hand-stand with little strain. Fashion: He likes to wear two shirts at once – a long-sleeved shirt of a solid color beneath a colorful t-shirt with a slogan or popular band on it. Add in some baggy jeans, a wallet chain, and some worn sneakers with traction, and top if off with a knit beanie cap and that’s Carter’s outfit. His clothes are usually dusty and dirty from repeated tumbles into the dirt after some attempt or another at trying to perform a trick. While wearing his school uniform, Carter does not wear his knitted beanie. His spikey hair is bright enough to place him in the back of the classroom in order to let the students behind him see, and to prevent the rest of the class from staring at it (unfortunately for Carter, who needs all the help from the teacher he can get!). Carter's legs also have at least one band-aid present at all times, either to cover up an injury or just for show.

Challenge: You're about to wipeout! Attack #1: Wave Fist! A short-ranged attack that summons a wave. The crest of the wave is at his fist, and the wave itself "fans out" from that point like a shield. The idea of this is to give him a short-ranged powerful punch that doubles as a shield -- not to absorb, but to knock away/diffuse attacks. Unless it's an electric attack -- then it'd absorbed and powered up to be painful! Of course, it also leaves Sailor Merope soaked with salt water... as well as whatever he punches. Technical Details: One shout, one punch. Leaves him soaked and each thing he punches is also wet. HORRAY! Attack #1a: Crashing Wave Fist! A powered-up version of the previous attack. The fist-punch hits harder and the wave moves faster. Attacks are more diffused with this, though electricity-based attacks hurt more. Still leaves things soaked, except this time the water's colder, more powerful, and much more salty. Arrr. Attack #2: Return of the Rogue! Carter draws his arm back like a punch, but doesn't deliver. Instead, the hand is raised up in a beckoning motion. From behind him, semi-transparent water forms. The water rises up nine stories and crashes down, becoming physical upon impact with the ground. This attack floods the entire area, causing everyone not behind a barrier of some sort to be caught in the resulting current and moved "downstream" as it were. The water disappears a minute after it appears, leaving behind salt. It also leaves everyone caught up in the attack soaked and smelling as if they just took a dip in the sea.

When the seas are rolling in...Merope:Merope is the youngest of the Pleiades of Greek mythology -- daughters of Atlas (a Titan) and Pleione (an Oceanid nymph). There are seven of them altogether. The Pleiades were considered to be Artemis' companions. There are several myths regarding Merope, many of which say that Orion's pursuit of them resulted in them being turned into stars for their safety. Of the sisters, however, Merope is the faintest. Many believe this is because she married a mortal, and because of that lost some of her power. Rogue Waves:Rogue Waves are monstrous waves that can reach to heights of 8-9 stories tall (roughly 100ft!) -- think of them as a sort of lesser tsunami that occurs only out at sea, in deep water. You've probably seen these sorts of waves in movies, namely the gigantic wave that hits the boat during the middle of the storm that manages to turn said boat over. Unlike the movies, however, rogue waves themselves are localized phenomena that don't last very long. Recent studies suggest that rogue waves are made up of smaller, tinier waves brought together by wind and water currents, or even the lunar pull of the tides. Much about them still remains a mystery. It is known, however, that a deep "trench" or "dip" on the ocean's surface occurs before a rogue wave hits. OLD PERSONALITY TRAITS ARE OLD but I'm keeping them here for the heck of it.
Chivalric: Once upon a time, Carter wanted to be a knight when he grew up. As he grew up, he realized that armor is pretty heavy and, well, not exactly as fun as he imagined it. Thank you, History Channel. He really liked the code of chivalry, though. It may not be as epic as the Bro Code, but it's just a way he acts in order to try and separate himself from the rest of the crowd -- as well as to try and stay away from becoming a transfer to Hillworth! Carter doesn't remember the exact nitty-gritty details of the chivalric code, so he follows his own variation based off of the seven virtues: - Courage: Take on and attempt all challenges presented! Just don't kill yourself in the process. - Justice: What comes around goes around. Stick to the rules and you can avoid karma's retribution. - Mercy: There's no victory in a 'final' battle. You need your opponents to constantly push you to your limits -- break their limits again and again, and never quit because it's over. You never know when it'll start up again! - Generosity: Don't be a greedy pig, man. Glory hounding is fine once in awhile, but you'll lose rivals if you hog too much of the limelight. Hog too much, then... well, where's the sense in victory if there's no one to witness it? - Faith: Keep your word. It impresses the ladies. - Nobility: DON'T DO DRUGS KIDS! STAY IN SCHOOL even though it bites. - Hope: Get knocked down? Pick yo'self up again. Bruises and scrapes build character.
Chivalric: As much as his code guides him, it also hinders him. - Courage: Taking on and attempting all challenges presented often lead to taking on more than he can handle. - Justice: Follow the rules, even if skateboarding in that old construction site -would- lead to some kickass moves... but if you get dared, do you back off and wimp out or do you man up and do it? The latter would happen, since the rules he follows happen to be the ones that apply to the current situation, ie use a crosswalk when there's cars and other people, but jaywalk if there's no cars or witnesses. It's faster! - Mercy: As tempting as it is to land the final blow, too many kung-fu movies made Carter believe that real strength is in restraint and letting your opponent live, rather than finishing them off. As impressive to some, it's infuriating to others and Carter has often been attacked from behind after trying to walk away from a scuffle. - Generosity: Carter will not share his money with bums on the street. He got jumped by a mob of them once, and lost his entire allowance and lunch to them. - Faith: The promises he has had to keep... Carter has lost some of his friends due to keeping secrets and promises he shouldn't have kept. Like telling his friend that those cookies contained peanuts when he promised another to never ever EVER tell someone else the secret ingredient. He lost his allowance in apology balloons in that particular incident. - Nobility: Putting on airs means that the other skaters make fun of him for being too good to spray paint with the rest of them. - Hope: When in doubt, fake optimism helps!

Putting these here ala back-up~~ Marushii He didn't know where he was going. Right, left, right – he could barely see in the dark. He barely noticed the paths change colors under his feet as he fled. Leaves slapped at his arms, and he stumbled more than once as he ran into the walls of the maze. Where was everyone? Where was he?He didn't know. Left, left, right – he had to keep moving. He had – something caught his foot, causing him to pitch forward and fall through a corn-wall. He couldn't stop. He continued to run, clenching his plastic axe tightly. But now he was out of breath. He took one, two steps and bent over, hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath. Carter then sank to his knees, his fingers digging into the colored astro turf. What... what was he doing? He ran. He fled from what? From someone dressed up in a costume. The boy scrubbed his burning cheek. He was Sailor Merope, and what did he do? He didn't stand and fight. He fled. He was a coward. He sat back and stared upwards at the sky. He wasn't much of a senshi, to turn and flee at the first sight of trouble. “I was just surprised,” he whispered. It didn't sound very convincing. Carter slid back, bringing his legs forward and up. The axe was dropped in favor of hugging his legs, propping his chin on his knees in the same motion. It helped to sit here and think, to listen to the various shrieks and cries in the maze as people had their own shares. He... Carter closed his eyes. He really, really wanted his teammates. He didn't like being alone, he didn't want to be alone. He – He didn't have time for this!It felt as if someone had struck him; a quick, dark jolt that made his feet ache with impact after jumping off a high ledge, followed by the soft trembling of the skateboard underfoot. Was it the last trick your board would perform? No, not yet – he could sense the youma nearby, stopping to sniff before shuffling on. Then there was silence. The boy slowly reached forward and grabbed his plastic axe, swiping his face for a final time. Now wasn't the time or place to cower. There were still dangerous things out there, things that wouldn't solve themselves. Carter ran forward, following markers at random: red, blue, white, blue again, scarecrow, turn – what was that ahead? The end? He stared as there was a flash a light. Was the night suddenly brighter? Why did it become louder? Carter stared before approaching the bale of hay. It didn't matter that someone had beaten him to whatever it was – right now, he was tired. He wanted to go home. Marushii It was gone. It wasn't like someone turning a light off. There's always a moment in the movement, the twilight pause between half-on and half-off that makes a soft nearly inaudible click that you can't hear, but you can feel. It isn't much, but it is enough of a warning to prepare yourself, to blink at the right moment and shield one's self from the sudden contrast. Now? Now it was simply gone. Sailor Merope stood on the table, frozen as someone dressed in dark clothing simply vanished, taking with them... What was it? His olive eyes slid from the empty place to the cake, which seemed in itself to slump in defeat. Someone yelled. Someone began laughing. Someone kicked the table, nearly knocking him off if he didn't crouch down to grab onto it in time. He was too tired to cry out against her or spare her any sort of Look. No, he really wished he had a table he could kick too. He dropped the piece of cake and began coughing, slowly getting off the table (on the opposite side of Sailor Tablekicker) and leaned into it, shoulders slumped. He could hear the other senshi call out for their teammates. Atlas? Alcyone? He saw them earlier. Orion had disappeared – was he okay? The boy didn't know. He had failed for the second time in a row. First in the maze, now here... He wanted to run, to hide. He wanted – Do not despair. Sailor Merope, Senshi of Rogue Waves looked up. Was it moonlight? No – moonlight didn't make his heart skip a beat, nor did it ease his forming bruises and stings. Nor did it ever make him feel like someone had an arm around his shoulder, telling him chin up, it's okay to fall once in awhile – you're learning, after all. The more you practice, the less you'll fall."You have not been defeated yet. The Negaverse may have taken this one light away from you, but the presence of this one means there are others. So do not despair. Stand tall and be proud, Sailor Senshi from across the galaxy... stand tall, and let your light shine."
Find the lights that wait for you...
Find them, and find hope. Was... was it even possible, after all that they went through? The boy closed his eyes and took a slow, shuddering breath. He curled his hands into fists. His lips trembled before he took another slow breath, pushing his lips into a firm line. I can't... I can't give up! He thought, letting the breath out sharply. He was Sailor Merope, Senshi of Rogue Waves from the Pleiades Cluster, leader of Team Pleiades! “Next time,” he whispered, looking to where their Moon Princess stood. “Next time, I...” He trailed off. He couldn't promise that he'd do it. Promising to do better wasn't enough. Nor was it enough to try. He swallowed, looking down before jerking his chin up again. No! He would not cower. Even if he was scared, he will stand his ground. He will be Sailor Merope. No, he is Sailor Merope! Fear be damned! “Next time I'll show them! I'll be brave and prove it!”
