· SOCOM · The Special Operations Command (SOCOM) is the Unified Combatant Command charged with overseeing the various Special Operations Commands (SOC or SOCOM) of the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps. The command is part of the Department of Defense.
SOCOM conducts several covert and clandestine missions, such as unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, special reconnaissance, psychological operations, Civil Affairs, direct action, counter-terrorism and War on Drugs operations. SOCOM's global performance in combat and noncombat areas has proven the value of a mature, culturally attuned, properly equipped, and adaptive Special Operations Force (SOF). Each branch has a Special Operations Command that is unique and capable of running its own operations, but when the different Special Operations Forces need to work together for an operation, SOCOM becomes the joint component command of the operation, instead of a SOC of a specific branch.
Green Operations- Two kinds of missions are required to be learned by these units; the first one is Green Operations. Green operations are fundamentally pure reconnaissance. This includes gathering information on enemy strength, enemy number, a direct assessment of what kind of weapons and materials the enemy has, providing landscape and geographical layouts, references and landmarks, if not entire maps, and generally providing information on areas so that a plan may be designed as when to attack the area. Green operations can lead to direct target acquisition, and although the Marine them self doesn't engage in direction confrontation, information gathered will be essential to direct action in the future.
Black Operations- The second kind of mission the marines will be partaking in is called Black Operations. Black operations are operations were direct action is taken by the Marine. This may include engaging the enemy in fire fight, taking out troops through use of sophisticated or long range technology, planting explosives, mines, or other kinds of devices, and to directly engage the enemy in full out war confrontation. As a standard, the Special Forces units must undergo severe and heavy training, as to increase the missions success capability, and to avoid causalities.
Different Branches
SOCOM is merely the command center and organizational unit for Special Operations specific units. While it's apparent that the Special Operations Units are all centered in the same area, the branches they correspond to are not. The SOCOM incorporates the capabilities and specific expertise of all branches in order to achieve a desired goal. While a soldier in Special Operations reports to SOCOM, they report to their individual Branch Leaders first, or of course the leader of the guild.
In addition to this, a member of the SOCOM units is not removed from their original branch. The soldiers of SOCOM still participate in regular Branch duties still preform their specific role in their branch. However, when called upon to enact in Special Forces combat, or when permitted to use their expertise and to exploit their access to high class weaponry in combat, they may do so.

Although the training and officers are nearly identical for the both the Green Berets and the Army Rangers, the kinds of actions each individual preforms is ideally different and more specific than the other. While both encompass a majority of guerrilla warfare tactics, special operations tactics, and special issued weapons, their over-all jobs are quite different.
The Green Berets are essentially the Special Forces unit in coordination with the Airborne Infantry Group. Trained to be implemented wherever necessary, the Green Berets are often the First, and Only special forces unit to be sent in distant locations. Being a Green Beret essentially allows highly trained paratroopers to be located anywhere in the world that is necessary. Requiring a vast array of weaponry, the Green Berets are given option to large amount of special issue weaponry and specific devices.
The Army Ranges are essentially the Special Forces unit in coordination with the Regular Infantry Group. The Army Rangers are a mass coordinated highly trained Army Division capable of achieving extraordinarily hard tasks. Forming the Backbone of the Special Forces Groups, they contain the most highly trained individuals out of nearly any force. Ideally, the Army Rangers are to be implemented during wartime, and serve as any other Regular Ground Force would, except with better training, more intelligence, higher standards of performance, better equipment, and better understanding of military strategies. Requiring a vast array of weaponry, the Army Rangers are given option to large amount of special issue weaponry and specific devices.

The MARSOC Special Forces unit is essentially a collection of the best Marines; in other words, the best of the best. To even begin attempting to participate in MARSOC, the soldier must first pass two series of tests, if not three, and then report back after the basic control of the military structure has been achieved. After this, the Unit must then pass yet another test, even harder than the Marksmen test, and then must continue to train to become better and stronger than he ever was before. It is quite a feet becoming a MARSOC soldier, but the advantage is gaining the strength to defeat almost any enemy, and the weaponry awarded to achieve such tasks.
An extreme emphasis will also be placed physical confrontations. The Marines as a whole are prone to both long-range and extremely close up fighting, so in order to become a MARSOC soldier, exceptional skills over the human body, hand to hand combat, and other various types of weaponry and fighting styles will be necessary. This of course can be learned, and will be expected and instilled into the member of MARSOC.

In recognition of a need for a Special Forces Unit, the Navy Formed the special forces unit code named "Jörmungandr". Jörmungandr's purpose as Special Forces Unit was intended to provide amphibious warfare capable of delivering mine clearing abilities, pre-established reconnaissance information in an area, and even special target elimination if necessary. Because of the maneuverability and quality achieved by personnel instead of machinery, Jörmungandr is primarily a personnel established group, and has less to do with the power of a ship and more so of the power of independent soldier groups. Despite this, Jörmungandr does exploit the sophisticated, expensive, and complex devices which the NAVY has to offer. WeaponryThe Jörmungandr can use any kind of weaponry known to date. Like most Special Forces units, Jörmungandr is capable of garnishing special Issue weapons, meaning that most kind of weapons needed for any mission can be specially purchased.
The Jörmungandr personal armory has close to unlimited funds in it's category. Although the military does not have unlimited funds, for a small well trained group, a weapon that is even ten times the price is not as expensive in a small group as a large group would be.

Stealth aircraft are aircraft that use stealth technology to interfere with radar detection as well as means other than conventional aircraft by employing a combination of features to reduce visibility in the visual, audio, infrared and radio frequency (RF) spectrum. Well-known modern examples of stealth aircraft include the F-117 Nighthawk (1981-200 cool , the B-2 Spirit "Stealth Bomber", the F-22 Raptor, and the F-35 Lightning II. While no aircraft is totally invisible to radar, stealth aircraft prevent conventional radar from detecting or tracking the aircraft effectively, reducing the odds of an attack. Stealth is accomplished by using a complex design philosophy to reduce the ability of an opponent's sensors to detect, track, or attack the stealth aircraft. This philosophy also takes into account the heat, sound, and other emissions of the aircraft as these can also be used to locate it. Stealth is the combination of passive low observable (LO) features and active emitters such as Low Probability of Intercept Radars, radios and laser designators. These are usually combined with active defenses such as Chaff, Flares, and ECM.
