I always wondered what the outer senshi would look like if Naoko stuck with the original designs.

I remember seeing the firs design for Saturn. Naoko planned her color to be yellow ocher instead of indigo/purple, and she holds a druid staff that performs magic. Overall, the fuku design is similar to the final design, but the only difference is, that she has a Saturn shaped planet for her brooch, and she wears a ring.

Hmmm, I think it would be interesting, but to be honest, I really like the fuku's she decided with. I like how thye are different from each other, but at the same time the same. Its like they have their own personalities but one common purpose.

Then my fanfic is more accurate than I thought...

Those were the original designs for the anime, not the manga, I believe.

HououMinamino Those were the original designs for the anime, not the manga, I believe. Nope, for the manga. It'd be a little hard to animate action scenes, with those outfits than the official ones, in my opinion. :/ Drachea Rannak, drew art based on the original concept. :3 X

It says explicitly in volume 2 that they were the outfits thought of when the anime series "got a greenlight." And she also said, "When I showed these to the anime company, they must have flipped." Unless that has been translated wrong, I took that to mean that they were designs for the anime.

Yeah, but I seen some earlier artbook images of Sailor Moon wearing her original design then it keep changing until Naoko finally decided to keep the design as we see. Vol 2 of what? I know that Mixx/Tokyo Pop translation was off in their manga.

Volume 2 of the manga, of the original series. English version. Sadly, the reprints don't have the notes, so I wouldn't know if they were wrong. Speaking of wrong translations, I've read some of the original Japanese, and found that, for the most part, Mixx's/Tokyopop's translations are correct.

I wouldn't know since I can't read Japanese ^^; This is what I heard, so wheather its true or not. Here is a quote from mangastyle.net about the original designs.
Quote: Ever wonder why no one recognizes the senshi? *referring to the original design image* Well, some people do, but originally all the soldiers were intended to wear masks just like Sailor V. These must have been deemed too difficult to animate, along with the very detailed costumes Naoko originally designed for the five-senshi team. Yet even with the more streamlined anime uniforms, the manga costumes were still detailed and individualistic. I rather like Sailor Mercury's costume but I must confess to being glad that Jupiter did not end up wearing the skimpy costume shown here wink
