Welcome everyone!
I do hope anyone and everyone who is a fan of "Yami no Matsuei" will have fun being a part of this RP, or even reading it on the side!
This is my third multi-player YnM RP that I've designed to date, and I'm hoping to be able to attract even more RPers than ever before!
For this, I've placed the RP in a rather odd setting (which you can read about further down the page).
This is also in an effort to get past the events of the haitus manga as well.
PLEASE make sure you always check this first page for any News & Updates that may come about!

Two Years After The Kyoto Arc... 2000 A.D.
After failing to acquire a shikigami of his own, Kurosaki Hisoka returns from GensouKai (The Imaginary World) empty handed. Not only does he come back to Meifu, but Tsuzuki Asato is with him as well. A war began to brew in the GensouKai, a war that only the shikigami themselves can decide. Because of this, the gateway which Wakaba opens has been sealed shut for the time being... and no shikigami can be summoned to the Real World.
Meanwhile, Watari Yutaka and Tatsumi Seiichirou somehow managed to exorcise Yatonokami, who was possessing Kurosaki Nagare in Kamakura. Since that time, they have returned to Meifu... only to find themselves in deep trouble. Having attempted to hack Mother (the Meifu computer system that Watari helped to create), Watari is put on probation by Enma Daiou-sama, regarding the Meifu network. As such, Watari is not allowed to access ANY files from the Meifu system and has been ordered to disconnect his own computers and systems from the Meifu network at this time. Tatsumi however, was somehow able to talk his way out of any punishment for the offense.
In the Real World, Mibu Oriya is still trying to find some lead as to the whereabouts of Muraki Kazutaka. The yearly visit from Sakuraiji Ukyou is due soon, and he was hoping to be able to give the woman news about the doctor.
As for Muraki himself... his fate is perhaps the most troubling aspect of all...

Personality: Hisoka is very stubborn, and often doesn't get along with the other team mates. He always speaks his mind.
Background: Hisoka Kurosaki is Shinigami in a sixteen year-old's body. He possesses strong empathy, which allows him to feel the emotions of others, read thoughts, see memories, and pick up imprints of clairvoyance off inanimate objects.
He came from a traditional family, and was trained in traditional Japanese martial arts. His parents were afraid of his spiritual powers, which they considered freakish and unfit for their heir as well as something that could unfurl the familiar secret; so as a child, whenever he was caught using his abilities and during special days, he was locked in a cellar.
One spring night when he was thirteen, unable to sleep, he went out under the sakura trees, and stumbled across a murder as it was taking place. The murderer, Muraki Kazutaka, caught him, raped him, and cursed him to a slow death that gradually drained his life over three years, with the logic that "a beautiful boy deserves a beautiful death". Muraki later explains to Tsuzuki that he did have the option of making the single murder a double murder done by a madman, but instead decided to draw out Hisoka's death painfully; this was done by the curse, taking the form of an incurable illness. This curse is still visible in the form of red marks and symbols all over Hisoka's body, which seems to only appear when Muraki is nearby or active. It has been implied, though not explicitly stated, that the curse will only disappear after Muraki's actual death. After Hisoka died, he became a Shinigami to investigate about his own death, since he had no memories of the event. It is only later we learn that Muraki had since sealed off Hisoka's memories in order to keep his crimes safe from discovery.
In Meifu, Hisoka was assigned as Tsuzuki's partner. Hisoka enjoys reading, and spends much of his time at the library by himself. His health even in the afterlife does not seem to be particularly good, as he has a tendency to faint from heat, lack of sleep; and from drinking alcohol. Also, he is not very strong, as he doesn't build muscle well. However, he is a capable detective, and clever in subterfuge.
Although extremely reserved to the point of coldness, Hisoka deeply cares about other people. When Tsuzuki regains his suicidal tendencies, Hisoka comforts him and ends up saving him from himself. Hisoka also has a strong urge to take care of Tsuzuki, even though Tsuzuki drives him crazy sometimes. He maintains comfortable relationships with the rest of his coworkers, with the noticeable exception of Saya and Yuma, who constantly try to play with him like a doll.
Besides his empathy, Hisoka has also been trained in basic ofuda and defensive magic by Chief Konoe. Later in the series, he goes to seek out a Shikigami for himself in order to increase his power. Hisoka's first Shikigami is a Spanish-speaking potted cactus named Riko, a defensive and water-type Shiki. Hisoka is also adept in traditional martial arts, particularly archery, and kendo.
Odd Quirks or Anything Else: Hisoka is covered in a tattoo-like curse, therefore always is wearing long sleeves and long pants to hide them.

Personality: Muraki is cold and calculating. He enjoys watching the pain of others, and playing a part in said pain. However, Muraki is also strangely calm and friendly when in the presence of Mibu Oriya.
Background: Kazutaka Muraki is the primary antagonist in Yami no Matsuei. His angelic appearance and characteristics serve to contrast with his brutal nature. Muraki's psychological troubles appear to have begun in childhood with his mother and his half-brother Saki. Muraki's mother collected dolls, and she is shown as treating him as though he were a doll too. Muraki's love of dolls and his collecting of dolls is a motif throughout the manga and anime, paralleling what he does with real people. In the anime, it is suggested that Saki killed Muraki's parents when they were still children and also decided to kill him. However, in the manga, it is not clear what Saki's role was other than disrupting Muraki's childhood, and Muraki describes himself as his mother's murderer.
Whatever the circumstances, Saki was shot by one of the family's guards, and Muraki became obsessed with bringing back Saki in order to kill him himself. Thus, Muraki hopes to use Tsuzuki's body to bring back Saki. This subplot features prominently in the last 3 episodes of the anime and volumes 7 and 8 of the manga.
Muraki is an expert manipulator, fronting as a good doctor who laments over his inability to save lives, while hiding his private life as a serial killer. Muraki discredits his good "Dr. Jekyll" persona, contrasting himself to Pr. Satomi in the Kyoto Arc, episode 12.
Being a serial killer, Muraki has numerous victims, the most significant of which is Kurosaki Hisoka. After stripping the thirteen year old Hisoka naked and raping him, Muraki placed a curse on him. The curse, which was untraceable—partially due to Muraki's having wiped Hisoka's memory of the event—resembled a terminal illness, and Hisoka languished in a hospital for three years before eventually dying. Later, when Hisoka is a shinigami, Muraki forces the boy to recall the night that he cursed him.
Throughout the story, Muraki manipulates souls of the dead, often killing the people himself, in hopes of drawing the attention of the Shinigami, in particular, Tsuzuki. He is obsessed with Tsuzuki's body; both carnally and scientifically. In the manga it is clear what Muraki desires, but the anime had to censor such extremes, and so Muraki's advances toward Tsuzuki were shown as hints of sexual harassment. Later in the anime it is shown that Muraki desires Tsuzuki's body to revive his half-brother.
A respected physician, Muraki has many connections throughout Japan among powerful patrons, but in the anime and manga, he is mostly seen in the company of his close friend Oriya and his old teacher, Professor Satomi. Muraki also has a childhood sweetheart by the name of Ukyou, but very little is known about her, other than that she appears to draw evil spirits to her and that her health is poor.
Some readers believed that because of his different colored eyes, he may be a guardian of one of the four gates of GenSouKai (see Wakaba Kannuki). However, in the King of Swords arc (volume three in the manga), a scene where Tsuzuki knocks out the fake eye reveals that Muraki's right eye is not real and that it is mechanical. The origin and nature of Muraki's supernatural abilities remain an enigma: he is human, he is alive (not a Shinigami), yet he raises a dead girl to be a zombie, seals and opens Hisoka's memory by mere touch, controls creature spirits similar to Shikigami, enters Meifu by himself and teleports Tsuzuki to another location. His eye may have come from Tsuzuki, since one of his eyes was covered with a bandage in the anime, though if that is the case,it is unclear how he has two eyes later as a Shinigami.
At the end of the Kyoto Arc, Muraki was thought to have been utterly destroyed by the flames of Touda, a powerful shikigami which Tsuzuki had summoned in an attempt to end everything. However, it is later revealed that Hisoka noticed a bright light that "was wrapping itself around Muraki's body." and is thought to be the person or being who "dragged him out of that sea of flames.".
As of now, two years later, Muraki's whereabouts are still a mystery...

Background: Tsuzuki had a horrible childhood, always hated because he was different, some would say a monster. He tried for years to end his life, but he could not die, try as he might. Finally, while under the care of one Dr. Muraki, he finally succeeded in passing on, though after his death he was brought over to be a Shinigami. Despite his issues with self esteem, Tsuzuki managed to gain the greatest power among all Shinigami, taking control of twelve shikigami, a never before seen feat. He has also managed to cause more destruction than has ever been on record in Meifu. With his partner, Kurosaki Hisoka, things have seemed to get a bit brighter for him though.

Personality: Happy and bubbly, Watari's motto is "Smiles are Free"... which says a lot about him. He's always getting into trouble at the office for spiking the coffee with his latest attempt to create a gender switching potion...
Background: Yutaka Watari is a close friend of Tsuzuki's who works in research and development. Though technically a mechanical engineer, he is basically a scientist who invents whatever comes to mind. He's also in charge of computer maintenance & repair. He's very bouncy and happy, like Tsuzuki, but doesn't seem to hold the inner angst that Tsuzuki does. However, he will occasionally become very and suddenly angry, usually because of something befalling one of his friends.
His companion that is almost always with him is an owl, "003". (001 is a toucan and 002 is a penguin, they stay in Watari's lab) Watari's dream is to create a sex change potion, although his motives are not clear; he definitely has an unusual interest in women and all the facets of being female, although whether or not this interest is sexual or purely scientific is still a matter of opinion (Tatsumi, for example, is quite certain of the former). Watari once claimed that he wants to know how a woman's mind works, therefore his wanting to become female to understand it. He tests out all his potions and the like on both himself and Tsuzuki, relying on Tsuzuki's weakness for sweets for persuasion. Watari's special power is bringing his drawings to life by animating the inanimate. Unfortunately, his skill at drawing is very poor, but this does not seem to stop him from successfully drawing Tsuzuki out of the Count's self-written novel in Volume 5.
Watari is the shinigami for the sixth sector, Henjoucho, which includes Osaka and Kyoto. As obvious, he possesses a distinctive Kansai accent! He usually does not work with a partner, though he does sometimes work with Tatsumi.
Later volumes of the manga, specifically the Kamakura arc, reveal a few pieces of Watari's past life. Most intriguingly it is revealed that Watari once worked for the Five Generals. These employees of Juohcho are infamous for their involvement in the Mother Project, the supercomputer of Meifu.
Most recently, he and Tatsumi were able to successfully free Kurosaki Nagare (Hisoka's own father) from possession by the demonic Yatonokami. However, in doing so, he was caught hacking into the Mother program... and has since been suspended from any access to the Meifu computer network or the files therein... making his job, quite a pain.
Odd Quirks or Anything Else: Watari has a fondness for Italian Pasta, Birds, and Coffee. He sleeps late and works into the early morning hours, which usually means he ends up crashing on a cot in his lab at work.

Personality: Micheal is quick to anger, even the simplest things can set him off. He is unusually soft spoken considering that he is a demon. Overall he is rather lazy, preferring to pretend to doze off rather than work on his goal.
Background: He is a rather strange demon, as he has always preferred to look mostly human. He is more of a villain by necessity more than anything else. Long ago he had a relationship with an angel and although it took him centuries to recover from his wounds, he is still looking for the angel. Not for revenge but because he wants to be with him. As a result, he is searching for a way to be human, even if he has posses someone to do so.
Odd Quirks or Anything Else: Micheal dislikes dogs as much as they hate him. He also hates cats but they seem to regard him like he's catnip. He likes almost anything that is orange or strawberry and hates pineapple. Holy water causes burns and he shies away from those of any religious order.

"Ich....ni...san..." Tsuzuki sat at his desk, counting coins. "...shi...go...roku..." he really hoped he would have enough to go buy some sweets after work. "...shichi...hachi...kyu..." almost. "Ju! Yatta!!!!"
He shot up from his chair, a tail wagging behind him, eyes all aglow.
"Apple pie, apple pie!!!! Wai! Wai! Wai!!!!"

He was a ninja when he wanted to be... though most of the time the man was usually found out before he could strike, by the likes of Tatsumi and Terazuma.
Sometimes even Bon.
But not this time...
Far from it.
As Tsuzuki sat counting his yen and seemingly praying that he would have enough for an apple pie... the ninja struck.
"Donai deshita?" came a cheerful voice from right behind Asato.
There stood Watari Yutaka, HenJouChou sector six's very own mad scientist, in a swirl of long blond curls and sweeping lab coat tails. The smile on his face could only mean one of two things...
Either Watari had already found some unsuspecting poor soul to test his latest experiment on.
Or he was about to seek out Tsuzuki as said unsuspecting poor soul...
Upon seeing that the amethyst-eyed shinigami had NOT visited the bakery yet, a slight frown appeared on the blond's face.
"Iyo iyo... you haven't even left on your lunch break?!" Watari spoke, obviously a bit disappointed. "And here I had hoped to see just what desert you dragged back to the office today."
The scientist sighed before half sitting and half leaning on Tsuzuki's desk, literally shoulder to shoulder with the older shinigami.
"It's boring enough around here at the moment... and now you've gone and spoiled my elaborately concocted plan."
There was a dangerous gleam in the engineer's amber gaze... a twinkle that usually warned of an oncoming disaster.
However, that glimmer was gone and Watari sighed again, shrugging his shoulders. "I had hoped to slip a little of my newest experiment into your desert. Foiled again!"
A moment of silence... and then the blond began to laugh. "Jodan. Jodan." he replied.
However... most people would have realized... Watari's jokes could easily become very real threats...

Still in full on puppy-mode, Tsuzuki perked up even more at his friend's arrival.
"Watari-saaaaaan!" he wagged his tail, oblivious to the blond's threats, joking or otherwise. "I...am going to have APPLE PIE!" he stated proudly.
This, apparently, had become the high point of his day and was his main focus, despite the massive piles of paperwork scattered about his desk. Leaning further into the scientist's shoulder, the amethyst eyed shinigami whispered, "Do you want to go with me, Wa-ta-ri-chan?!"

"Metcha oishi pan-ya shitten nen..." Watari smirked, actually really happy that Tsuzuki had asked if he wanted to come with him.
Not only did the scientist have enough money to buy the amethyst-eyed shinigami anything he wanted... but he could also, more than likely, convince Tsuzuki to eat it WITH his newest experiment.

He pushed off the desk with a smile. "Besides, Tatsumi put a nice long list of files that he needs me to look up..." that smile turned to a pouting frown. "And to be honest, the Gushoushin aren't very happy with me at the moment... so I'd rather avoid the library right now."
It sucked.
It really really sucked.
And that predominant thought was in Watari's head every time he had to go to the library. It wasn't that he didn't like the place, he absolutely loved it! Vast amounts of knowledge with no end in sight! But... he missed being able to access the files which Tatsumi and the Chief needed... from the network.
Being on probation... really... really... really... sucked...
As to why the Gushoushin were unhappy with the scientist... well... he had a few overdue books.
Again.
"So!" turning, Watari's smile was back in place as he walked backward through the bullpen and toward the door out of the offices. "What have you been up to lately, Tsu-zu-ki-chan?"
Translations:
Metcha oishi pan-ya shitten nen... = I know a really tasty bakery, you know...
Ikii ka? = Shall we go? (very informal, akin to Ikou ka?)
(((OOC: On a side note... is it bad when Kansai-ben verb conjugations... make more sense then the Standard Kanto verb conjugations from the Tokyo-ben? Aka... the ones I actually had to learn?!)))

Shuddering at the thought of the library, which he had managed to destroy so many times that they had a temporary ban on him for it, Tsuzuki tried to push any idea of work out of his mind.
"Ah....I haven't really been up to much lately. I think Hisoka-kun might be mad at me...again. I was supposed to help him with a presentation, but I fell asleep." The shinigami scratched the back of his head, laughing a bit in embarrassment.
Being polite, Tsuzuki reached forward and pulled open the door for his co-worker, allowing him to go first.

Which... sometimes... he was...
He sighed, amber eyes focused on the elder shinigami at his side. "Aho wa aho ya..." Watari smiled however. "Cheer up! Just think, Bon's not ALWAYS going to be mad at you for falling asleep... though you really should try and think about what you do BEFORE you do it, Tsuzuki-chan... Yare yare..."
They were heading out of the building, and not long later found themselves transitioning from Meifu to the world of the living. As usual they appeared on the grounds of a shrine, rather close to the torii, and Watari made sure that he was viewable to the mortal eye.
No flying today. No invisibility either.
Took longer this way, after all...
Translation:
Nande ya nya! = You gotta be kidding!
Aho wa aho ya... = An idiot is an idiot (Aho however is a more endearing term than idiot really... it's not like being called 'baka')
Yare yare... = Good grief (or something of like nature)
