Name: Samuel Smith
Nicknames: Sam
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Fav. Food: Peanut butter anything. Peanut butter cups, peanut butter cookies, peanut butter fudge, peanut butter out of the jar with a spoon; you name it, he loves it.
Hated Food: Liver, or anything involving some poor animal's innards being flung onto his plate. He's got no problem with meat itself, just... he doesn't get the appeal of wolfing down intestines, and he doesn't want to find out.
Gift: Photography - If there's one thing Sam's good at, it's taking amazing pictures. People, places, cityscapes, he's got a natural knack for scoping out the best possible shot. Sometimes he's even been known to put himself out on the limb (literally; he's scaled trees before) to capture the image he desires. He just wishes he had a better camera to do it with.
Virtues:
Easy-going - Sam's ridiculously easy to get along with. He doesn't pick fights, and while he's capable of taking charge in a situation, he's more than content to go with the flow. He's also not the type to judge people one way or the other, no matter what their hang-ups might be.
Barrel of Laughs - Likewise, he's also a great person to laugh with. He's got a great sense of humor, absolutely loves making people smile, and never minds poking fun at himself. He can handle friendly teasing no problem. Just be prepared; he does it right back.
Generous - Even though Sam's always working towards getting a shiny new camera to work with, he's had a hard time reaching his goals because he's too busy helping everyone else. It almost sounds like a negative thing, and it can be. But the truth is he doesn't mind his own wants being pushed back a little. He really does geniuenly enjoy helping out his friends, that's all. He's the kind of the guy that would the shirt off his back to help a friend in need, and doesn't expect anything in return from them.
Trivia - Through random books and too much time in front of a computer and the television, Sam's got a rather fascinating list of facts he's compiled in his own head. Doesn't matter what the subject's on. Even if it's only half related to the topic people are going on about, odds are he's got some interesting little tidbit floating around to spur on some good conversation. It makes is surprisingly easy to strike up a conversation with the guy.
Flaws:
"Uhh... can I help you?" - Always hunting for the best shot, over time, Sam's developed the sometimes awkward habit of staring off into space. Or at people. The latter has been known to cause problems before, but that doesn't mean it's going to stop any time soon. He doesn't even realize he does it.
Confidence (or lack thereof) - He doesn't really think he's anything spectacular. Great, he can take some pictures. So can any kid with a camera; not a hard thing nowadays when there's one built into every phone. His grades aren't amazing, his gift isn't anything someone else couldn't do better at, and he really doesn't get why a school like this took him in the first place. Even if no one would guess it to know him, Sam in constantly second-guessing himself and everything he does.
Liar - You could almost call this one his 'gift', honestly. Sam's the kind of kid that lies within even thinking about it - and the big problem is, he's good at it. It's ridiculously hard to tell where the lies end and the truth begins, if anyone even realizes they're being lied to in the first place. It's not something he does to be malicious. He just does it to avoid conflict, the same way he used to back home. White lies are so much easier to swallow, even if they're the biggest mess of all when they're found out. Maybe the big reason they're so believable is Sam convinces himself along with the others that they're the truth.
Slob - No matter where he does, somehow he always manages to leave a mess behind him. Whether it's forgetting to take his dishes to the sink, tossing his jacket someplace it shouldn't, a misplaced candy wrapped; he kind of tries to keep it in check when he's in other people's space. But his own room, forget it. It's a wonder anyone can see any floor through all that mess. He keeps swearing he'll clean it. That's one lie everyone can see through.

Alease - Sam thinks she's nice, and likes how easy it is to talk to her. He feels a little defensive each time he hears somebody snickering about her height; what's so wrong with having a few inches on everyone else anyway? He wishes he could spend more time with her. Now it looks like he never will; it's more than depressing to think she might be among the undead. Ohgodohgodohgod--
Sébastien - Neighbor! And an ally in the on-going war against the demon librarian. Kind of obsessed with anything and everything French, but hey. Not like it's hurting anybody, so Sam doesn't mind. If anything he almost admires the pride the other boy totes so freely. One thing's for sure, it's easy to strike up a conversation with him. Like the others, Sam can't help but wonder now where he ended up. A zombie, just like the rest of them.
Malory - Kind of hard to talk to, but in his eyes, she's not as bad as people make her out to be. She's smart and devoted, and he's got to respect someone for that. ... plus that thing on her head is kind of awesome. Sam kind of hopes that she was smart enough to get out of the fire in one piece. Maybe she's still alive out there somewhere?
Remmington - Never even got his name... but he's the reason Sam made it out of that room. He feels immense guilt over his death and can't help thinking what he should have done differently. Finding some sort of peace with him, finally.
Sue - So long as he doesn't punch him in the face, they're square, so far. Still kind of wary of getting sucker punched in the face. But he's oddly grateful to the guy for everything he's done for him.
Yahya - What a nice guy! And what an adorable kitty! D'awww! Sam's sort of sad he didn't get to know him before all the s**t went down. But at least he got to know him now; better late than never.
