Do you guys have any 'jobs' in marching band? because me and my best friend Trey hold doors open for when the band peoples come in. [our band hall has double doors] thats kinda the 'job' i've given ourselves. does anyone else have a 'job' similar to this? [but not like drill instructor/ captain/ or section leader]

I've become a door holder...which is lame because I'm the one who needs the door held open for...
I've also become the set collector: I have second hour with my BD so i stay behind and pick up anything left on the field.

I take in and take apart the sousaphones. Both of our sousaphone players are big guys so they're needed to take like chimes and stuff in for front ensemble. So me and someone else take in sousaphones, and I take them both apart. (Usually because our field commander takes in the other one, and she played flute.)

I'm one of the many door-holders. Whoever doesn't hold doors helps bring the larger instruments inside.

Our freshmen have freshmen duties. Two bring out the podium, two bring it in, one is in charge of yard line markers, etc. I was the person with the yard line markers last year...it was annoying. I was better at it than this year's freshman is, though. :] I always ran around to set them up! =D

Honestly, no. We have a staff of about 15+ who do all the work needed to run he band. Staff get a full tuition ride, but there not part of any section(although sometimes they will fill spots in shows). They are mostly music majors.

DM's deal with their own podiums, DMis in training take out the loudspeaker and the yard markers and we have two sets of three people that take water in and out every other day.

We have 2 side double doors, one front double door, and a side single door.
But no door holders. All of the doors prop open by a magnet in the back of the door, i think.
The only band jobs we have are given to the managers.
Which is to answer the phone, set up the speaker & Dr. Beat on the field, and to put the yard line markers down.

Our band is student-run, so many people in the band have jobs. Our only paid staff is the director. I don't have a job at the moment, but I want to write for director's assistant next year (basically section leader, but you also get to conduct on ladders during rehearsal and other fun stuff).
