Just a survey-ish Question:
who thinks that retrogame sidescrollers beat their modern editions?
Metroid
Kid icarus
Mario 1,2,and3
Castlevania
or the new stuff?

Side scrolling castlevanias are better than the 3D ones, but they are still making those.
I really never played a 3d Kid Icarus though, what modern edition is it beating.

It's easier for me to relate to the game, and you can't really have epic storytelling on a sidescroller as much as you would a full 3d world for me. I like being immersed.

Hmm... I prefer the old Sonic games to the new ones, but otherwise, I enjoy new games more. Sure, I love retro games, but you have to admit Super Mario Galaxy is better than Super Mario Bros.

I do really want to see a new 2d metroid. But that doesn't neccesarily mean i like them better, but they are probably just as good.
there is also Sonic, 3D sonic has been going downhill lately, so most 2D games are better then the new 3D, but sonic adventure 2 is still the best sonic ever for me. Sonic adventure 1 close behind.
Other then that, 3d is better most of the time for me. But there are lots of great side scrollers, like vewtiful Joe, They must make viewtiful joe 3! scream
