and I have reached my verdict. It's not bad if you're just looking for something to kill time. It was an easy read and I finished the book in one sitting. I will admit that it does have some flaws.

For example, I would never recommend it to somebody looking for something to read in a serious manner. If you're having the urge to read crappy love-based fan fiction, but don't feel like going to fanfiction.net, this is a good alternative. I will admit that Bella is a b***h, which is annoying considering I feel a Mary Sue ought to have a perfect personality to fit the role better. Edward isn't that bad if you block out the point that he is a vampire using a godmode cheat.

On the point of sexism, I didn't really notice it, though most of the stuff I end up reading is massively sexist.

I refuse to watch the movie due to my hatred of book related movies and the guy who played as Cedric in Harry Potter.

So my rating?

The book: Mediocre at best. The type of book you read when you're bored, like Captain Underpants.
The fans: Made of fecal matter.
The author: Writes with the same skill as somebody on a fan fiction site. That pretty much means that she doesn't have any writing skills, but she somehow gets a bunch of stupid people to give her a high rating.

Discuss:
You're own experiences with the book.
What bad points bugged you the most.
I suppose I will get some people who will rage that I wasn't hard enough with my verdict, but I have read books that were much worse.
Grapes.

To quote, uh, who was it?
I'm so sorry!
But point is someone else in this guild said, "Reading Twilight is like getting raped."
Please tell me who said that.
I feel so guilty.
I love grapes.

True, but you can't validly criticize something you've never taken the time to actually analyze. I skimmed over the boring parts anyways.

I read the first book just before the movie came out and it was OK until I got to the sparkeling bit. My best friend (who convinced me to read it in the first place) won't let that small fact go.

That part was annoying. The way she wrote it, it sounded like they were going to have sex.

Like you, I've read the book. Frankly, it sucks! You don't see much character development, both Bella and Edward are stereotypes, the book is sexist, the movie lacks anything good, need me say more?
PostPosted: Fri Aug 07, 2009 7:05 pm

I read it, too. All 4 of them.
I liked them for, maybe, a few weeks. Then the movie came out, (which I didn't see.) and I was like, "You know, this s**t sucks."

I read all four books, so I have ammo agaisnt the Twitards. Painful and I lost a good bit of my brain doing it, but ....no, not worth the sacrifice. emo

And captain underpants is way cooler than Twilight will ever be. and he doesn't even sparkle. xd

The first book made me mentally vomit.
Mentally.
Vomit.
I do not intend to further pain myself by continuing the series.

She writes like a 13 year old girl ( no offense to myself ) on FF.net, her characters are 2-D and mary-suish, the plot has been done to DEATH, and the vampires sparkle.

They ******** SPARKLE.

I agree with the "she writes like a 13 year old girl" part onwards. Vampires don't sparkle, but she did it. sad

And not only is Twilight bad, but a disgrace to humanity itself!! The SHEER ATROCITY!! gonk

And I had this sad, sad feeling like my soul had been... tainted... once I read it. I lost my literary virginity. emo
Still got the real one, though.

I started reading it for the 'good writing' and struggled to ignore the sexual undertones. I thought it was just extraneous... so I kept reading, and it took my about a week. Once the plot appeared, I remember having rants... before I was finished. I nearly refused to read the epilogue, but I did because I thought it would include the part where Bella died. What was I talking about? I talk too much. Oh yeah. I became anti before I was finished.

WHY DID I MAKE 3 POSTS?? I must be tired. 'Night.

User ImageI tried to... honestly. I could not do it sad

I'm one of those people that if I don't like I don't continue with it. Like my friend who tried to get me into Kingdom Hearts (No offense to any fans) but I found it boring as Hell and didn't want to play it anymore.
(Probably because I'm so in to God of War and that's epicness in a sandwich)User Image
